Such an excellent presentation with so many great takeaways for beekeepers and enthusiasts. Why it is not more widely viewed I'll never understand. Very happy that this series of lectures is on RUclips. If you learn one new thing about bees, it's time well spent. Thumbs UP all the way!
the tidbits about things like the royal jelly, and the drone with the phermones was rich. Who cares what the snow flakes think about politics, although the metaphor should be we are like wasps and yellow jackets, predators and thieves and a pox upon the planet. The Welshman once again proves they are the best at weaving a yarn, the one about the 50 pence honey machine was bloody hysterical. Thank You for this presentation, it was informative and well received here.
The speaker made some comment about "only allowing the fittest humans to breed". That's called Evolutionary Humanism. Nazis are the most well known example of Evolutionary Humanists...fyi
There seems to be a recurring theme among these speakers at this conference which shove « evolution » down our throats. Anyone who really studies the premises on which that science developed, one sees that the premises are just an arbitrary choice without any rational basis...it is a false science!
ShinRaPresident no that is not what is sad, sad to say. What is really sad is that those who denounce others of believing in myths and fairy tales are themselves doing so by believing in the grand fairy tale of evolution. Never forget, that when someone points a figure at something there are always three pointing back at you! I would suggest the debate on evolution in the documentary « The Principal » which you can view on Vimeo, I think.
Hi, I'm from Srilanka, These lectures are so helpful, I have a doubt, I have felt that the weight and size of worker bee increase with the age of the queen! does this become true?
The use of bee society as a model or excuse for political agendas from all the academics is getting old...Worker bees can leave. Even drones can fly away. The queen is their slave. -Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club
If you are still interested. The ones I was shown contained a section with wax, surrounded by wood around the edges and 2 pieces of acrylic glass on the front and back, underneath there was a hole for the entrance, link below. www.thorne.co.uk/frames-and-foundations/sections/wooden-section?product_id=2093 Look at page 14 the mini cassette on the right is similar in the link below. The cassette would fit into a box which was attached to a pole at the mating station. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=bibba.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/BIM13-Winter-2002.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjK5crP5_nwAhXFsKQKHTuvD6sQFjAAegQIBRAC&usg=AOvVaw1eKFFpnNrqkf-9nQiaeD3Y&cshid=1622667132999
He's actually wrong about the brain, it can also use ketone substances as fuel. For example, the medium-chain triglycerides in coconut oil are converted into ketones by the liver. This can be very useful for people with (recent) brain damage, where the normal ways of sugar delivery to some parts has been disrupted.
While it is true that the brain can use ketones as a fuel, I believe it is not known how long the brain can sustain this and none of this means that the KETO diet is good. In fact, the KETO diet is horrible and dangerous , in case that's where you're going with this.
you could fit all the population of the world in Texas or Alaska with space to live. Don't believe this notion that there are too many people in the world.

Thank you, Frederick. It's great to see a response from someone who is rational.
This proves to be one of the most informative lectures I've yet to experience. Simply wonderful.
Wonderful. Thank you very much.

Thank you for the science based lecture. I am amazed by some of the comments.
Brilliant, thank you for the multiple layers of insght! What an ah ha experience.
Absolutely brilliant!
Learned a lot thank you!
A great lecture.
Very talented
There are people thinking that human society could be like bee society... They must be very insane...
Either insane or ignorant.

ShinRaPresident not really. It documents the debate. It’s true though that today words have changed meanings.
Amazing stuff here.
Anybody know where I can get one of those slide rules? There's probably an app by this point!? Either will do.

What a waste of a lecture, should be about bees and not human society and how we should be like a colony. i'm outta here
jkprops skip the politics and you'll get a great lecture
You're a moron. You think the world of the insects is absolutely, without even a passing resemblance, different from that of the Humans.
Stupid start. Could not continue
Keep your topic on bees, not bs darwinism
They are completely inextricably linked, as is all life. This is about facts, not histrionic cultism.
