How about a whole generation that LOVES LeVar Burton from Reading Rainbow? I have such a deep emotional attachment to that show.
Same here brotha!
reading rainbow introduced me to star trek, and i fell in love with the series from then on
I still love hearing Levar read stories. He has a podcast where he reads all sorts of novels and short stories, Levar Burton reads I think. His voice and storytelling is so good. Maybe it's just nostalgia but he made reading cool and had such a positive influence on me. love em
Hell yeah!!!
The funny thing is that this interview aired January 1997, a couple months after "Star Trek: First Contact" premiered where Geordi actually loses the visor and wears contacts instead.
LeVar is an amazing guy, he's positively influenced so many people in so many ways.
Childhood nostalgia
It's lucky enough to do one thing iconic. This man has Roots, Star Trek, Reading Rainbow, and directing Smart House.
He directed Smart House? I love Smart House!!
Levar was fantastic on Reading Rainbow.
But you don't have to take my word for it. ;)
Take a look, it's in a book, a reading rainbow
LeVar Burton has fascinating eyes 🤩
Also: Conan did not know how much he would hang out at ComicCon many years later 😅
His eyes grew big cuz he used to look hard thru those hard-to-see visor
@@kasunlee7489 I was wondering about that. I know he's not blind like Geordi obviously, but the way he stares wide here, and in the 'Word Up' music video, etc. made me wonder if he had mild vision issues
2 words for ya.. Reading Rainbow. One of my all time favs growing up as a kid.
Watching him host Jeopardy , he's been killing it
i wish i was levar burton!!!!!
Yep was waiting for this...
i wish i was lance reddick
Conan is the G.O.A.T of late night
Very true
The only fella thats real..
@@BAZZAROU812 What about Letterman?
Letterman is a LEGEND
@@dgafffxp8263 "...but when i say legend i mean a myth...like....the loch ness monster...or bigfoot. like...we all believe they exist, but....who ever really saw it?" - Patrice O'neal
I am older and know him from Roots, Next Generation, and Reading Rainbow, now Picard. He is great every time.
I grew up in the 90s with tng and reading rainbow. Geordi la forge was and still is one of my favorite characters. Im an engineer today thanks in no small part to characters and people like that. That stuff has an impact on people
I wish I was LeVar Burton.
Conan needs to come back asap
Happy he just got the Jeopardy gig. Well deserved!
I wish I were Levar Burton
Remember when Data voiced Conan on South Park?
Such a nice guy, super aware.. wants to be decent and liked
Love this! Love Levar! Love Conan! Yes he is GOAT!
Boa noite, uma maravilhosa entrevista. Adorei o vídeo.
6 sessions and a movie!
7??? Seasons??? Not 6...
SET PHASERS TO LOVE ME
@@cloudkitt YOU CAN'T DISAPPOINT A PICTURE
I read aftermath when it came out. Good story.
I don't care,I was a reading rainbow fan, which kept me out of trouble. Then, as a Treky, he definitely became one of my favorites 😊
Got into Star Trek becuase of him, not from Roots though. But from the highlights of my "Its school-time on a friday, so lets roll out the tv and watch Reading Rainbow" years. ^_^
His book probably wasn’t featured on Reading Rainbow.
Take a look, It's in a book, The Reading Rainbow.... Iii caan go anywhere....
Perfect videos
oof that prison section was kinda rough
R.I.P he was a fine lad....
Reading Rainbow with DMX is comedy platinum. Why LeVar is not the host of Jeopardy is because of DMX and RUclips. But we'll get there one day... Blossom is fine.
Reading Rainbow!
🥰

conans ad libs ,as always, are just unbearable. can't even watch this whole thing.
"I told pierce a thousand times I didn't want to meet levar I only wanted a picture, you can't disappoint a picture"
Take a look🎶….🥲. In a book
“Set phasers to love me!” 😩
For people that grew up in the 80's and 90's Levar is a legend.
Just his voice alone put me at ease
I know him from big bang
I didn't grow up in the 80s or 90s... Does that make him any less of a legend?
...Ugh, not really... You do know that the vast majority of people over the age of 3 would have never heard of "Reading Rainbow" other then by being fans of TNG, right? It's literally a PBS show... how moronic do you have to be to be watching PBS last age 7? Like, Nickelodeon existed. And, you know, CBS. By the time you're 8 you are just a "little" to old to have some man reading books to you?? Especially children's books when you are already reading Goosebumps and Narnia and BFG???
I was a kid during Roots and didn’t understand but it was beautiful- I watched it every night and takes me to a place of respect for history
Absolutely.
"crazy that Roots aired 20 years ago" - yeah, even crazier this clip aired 24 years ago and Mica Burton (his daughter) who used to host the video game news show "the know" was two years old according to LeVar. Time flies 😅
I didn't even know Mica was his daughter. My understanding of the lore grows further.
LeVar Burton is doing a GREAT job hosting Jeopardy! I watched his all the time when I was younger; both on Reading Rainbow, and Star Trek. He's awesome. I hope he gets the hosting job on Jeopardy.
Sadly he didn't, the producer of the show got the job and Mayim Bialik is hosting another version of Jeopardy. He should've gotten the hosting job, he was perfect.
I love LeVar. LOL is funny seeing him geeked up tho.
Three of my favorite people on earth here!! Lavar read to me when I was a kid, and Conan and Andy cracked me up in high school
I wish I was LeVar Burton
The man has always had class
I knew LeVar when we were both kids growing up in Sacramento. He was full of energy and very driven at 9.
Old Conan = Better Conan.
The Boomers have LeVar for Roots
The Gen Xers have him for Star Trek
And the Millennials have him for Reading Rainbow.
That’s what we call a multi-generational role model.
"I wish I was LeVar Burton."
-Lance Reddick
If this is 1997, they had already made Generations and First Contact. Geordi didn't wear the visor anymore in First Contact.
The best candidate for the new Jeopardy host.
Did his book happen to include a global pandemic?
This must have been 20 years ago
@@user-otzlixr haHA
he's a very serious guy, I didn't expect that.
Cameo - Word Up (RUclips video). LeVar Burton's finest moment.
Very interesting
Oooo I hope they go all the way with it
That last one wasn’t bad for the first one I seen but if they went 10x with the cgi it would be phenomenal
Oh so LeVar Burton can also predict the future.
Reading Rainbow anyone?
Wasn't he the reading rainbow guy?
Levar Burton From Jeopardy
Levar Burton from Star Trek Next Gen first...... then jeopardy.
Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow
Levar Burton, the guy Troy only wants a picture of.
He is my favorite choice as the new host. He has just the right balance of calm and warmth.
@@Dulcimerist True it was first but star trek had a more cultural impact lol
Man i hope laforge is in picard.
LeVar is so ahead of his time. I will be sharing his book and suggesting it to everyone
Wow, he has successfully predicted what will likely happen if Trump gets voted back in as president.
i was in 8th grade when Roots came out. It was this huge, cultural thing in our very white school. We had discussions about it with teachers the next day after every episode. It was eye opening for an ignorant white boy in the suburbs of NYC.
What episode of reading rainbow did LeVar Burton's head get shaved?
If Tim Allen was the guest he could talk longer about the time he was in prison. Working of course.
Conebone69
Uh... sounds like reality is on track to LeVar's predictions in his book.
I'm forever attached to him from Reading Rainbow
lol he was on the show to promote a book he wrote about a RACE WAR!
Books stores😶🌫️😶🌫️
I like his name. And I love Star Trek.
Nothing compares to the original cast. My favourite is Captain Picard though. 😍
We are all the same people we are all the same race. Any argument against that fact is false
Even more accurate would be to say that race doesn't even scientifically exist. It's a bad hangover from Victorian era "white" racist pseudoscience that tried to pigeonhole different people into artificial, hierarchical taxonomies.
@@dHolbach77 Race exists only as much as someone might have more genetics from the original ~10 extant ancient 'family' lines. Which 23&Me and the DNA sites are revealing. But there are definitely racial populations in homogenous regions (e.g. Japan, Korea), where the social constructs around ethnicity discourage interracial marriage. None of this means that we should ignore how intermarried we all are, or ever revisit the terrible Victorian scientific racism around racial intelligence. But its silly to dismiss things like Sickle cell, celiac, aldehyde alcohol intolerance, malaria resistance, etc. which obviously have racial genetic components. Not just socioeconomic ones.
I never bring this up to rl racists tho, because I dont want to give them any broad ideas to somehow justify their hate.
Did his children do well in college?
I just wanted a picture!
Ha ha ha🖖🚀
God I miss the 90s
I reading rainbow, I can go anywhere, take a look it's in a book, a reading rainbow (a reading rainbow), a reading rainbow (a reading rainbow..rainbow ..rainbow)
I actually read that book soon after it came out (sometime in 1997). Was a good book. Almost like a horror movie, and what made it so horrific was it's plausibility
Fun fact: 2 models of the U.S.S. Enterprise were used in Star Trek (1966-1969). One is 3 feet long and the other is 11 feet long. The 11ft studio model of the U.S.S. Enterprise is on display in the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC

they shoulda explained away his visor earlier than the films, it was really cool when he got his augmented eyes, made sense to ... it should have been an episode to free the actor from that horrible prop
respect to Jordie bringing us a great character, complete with his vulnerabilities, he wasn't a woodern actor at all a very belivable character
Islam
I always wondered about that visor... sounds very unpleasant
There were actually many versions of the visor that were used depending on the angle of the shot, so not only was it a very tight fit he was endlessly having to detach and reattach them.
I watched this when I was one years old.
