We had a really cold snap in December here in the UK and I'm gonna have to cut a few back. Really sad to see all the progress and time they've spent to grow just go in a bad winter.
I had to prune lots of grasshopper damage on the red cordyline today in a greenhouse where I volunteer. We pulled them out of their old azalea pots, root pruned them and repotted. How far should I have pruned back the chewed leaves? Should I have taken them to the central stem?
Hi there! Before suggesting anything, we would ask what specifically is happening with your cordyline that you think it's not healthy right now? If you prefer to keep this more private, you can email us the specifics and we can do our best to help you. seanandallison@spokengarden.com
That looks like what happened my cordyline australis green leaves speckled yellow and then brown. I cut them all off and leaves start to yellow again, any ideas plant on raised bed with 50% john innes no.2 and natural soil 🙄
Leave them they will either send shoots out the stems or it will send out shoots from the bottom called pups ,don't throw them out ,only the top or crown is dead not the whole plant ! !
as amanda says cut the top off . most of them also send out new plants from the roots . so dont throw them out
Thanks for sharing. You make a good team.
Thanks for the tips
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
If you cut of the rotten tops of the plant will they not push out new growth like other varieties?

Is there something I can give my cordyline to boost its chance of becoming healthy again? Such as household items like soda for example.
