This is not what Dave was talking about, Dave Said It Himself, it’s not about transsexuals, it’s about how much power the LGBT community has and dissecting how they have this mysterious power where they have been making more progress then people who are of color and are being oppressed. This Stand Up Segment He Did Was Deeper Then The Surface.
@@ndadzo06 Right, we have to understand these people are not here to break down the truth, these people are here to spread rumors and misinformation to keep people distracted and lost from the truth. Channels Like These are such a deep rabbit 🐇 whole that lead us far away from the truth of reality and what life really is.
@Michael Johnson 1. Nobody is saying that- because they are not the same. 2. Why are you coming after me? I'm just highlighting a statement made in the special regarding empathy. 3. You seem to be struggling to understand what Dave is saying in the special- especially regarding the bathroom bit.
@Michael Johnson If someone is making jokes that are clearly not intended to cause harm, I wouldn't take offense. Because groups have been teased with humor since the inception of comedy. This isn't new. Every other group- especially white men recently- have jokes made about them.. and most people can just deal with a joke or watch something else... What is new is the idea that a small group of people believe that I'm creating harm because I don't agree with their definition of what is funny. Seems pretty intellectually shallow to me.
@Michael Johnson whatever, you see exactly what you want to see. Unfortunately, we live in a world where everyone thinks that all opinions are equally valid, and all criticism is productive, regardless of the subject. I also notice how you didn't acknowledge my primary concern of classes being exempt of humourous banter and criticism from people who don't identify as members of that group. That exemption is immature and speaks volumes about the resiliency of that group. If a white comedian who made jokes about black people (Bill Burr) - as he does often- even if I found his jokes wildly distasteful- it wouldn't be grounds for me to request his removal from a diverse content pool- unless he was specifically and intentionally advocating harm.
I love the trap that Dave set. I saw it coming early and when it hit, I just clapped. If you cancel Dave, then Trans culture is canceling a black man. Dave wins. If you can’t cancel him, he wins. His point was, if equality is the goal, then everyone can equally get it. I personally thought, while it wasn’t his most lol set, it was truly genius.
I agree, basically, but it's much more nuanced and almost a dis service to what he actually did to put it that way. He's highlighting the inequality in the fight for equality. The trans people have very little to do with this. He's targeting the cancel culture/sjwism and philosophy and point out their bias. They are the butt of the joke of they mad and don't even know what he actually said 98% of the time.
@@dustinb1070 I think it has always existed, but in this day and age, it’s become something soft and fueled by weak people. I’m perfectly fine when that Jarad from Subway guy got removed years ago. I’m not gonna support canceling someone for saying something myself or anyone else doesn’t like. That’s some pussy shit.
The thing that stuck to me was when Dave said what he's gonna say to Daphne's daughter when he hands over the fund.. "I knew your father, He was a helluva woman"...👌👌
Dave Chappelle's comedy special has shown up one thing: Comedians that aren't Dave Chappelle have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to talk about other than "Cancel Culture" and Dave Chappelle.
*This is such a first world problem. I’ve heard crazier s*****t on Haitian radio stations and people just laugh about it. People in the US have way more time on their hands- and not enough real problems to give a s****t about*
I think we should stop calling it a "comedy special" yes Dave is a comic but he wasn't up there telling jokes.. He broke down a whole perspective.. Theres some laughs in it but thats just because Dave is funny but if you listen to the story, it points out how counterintuitive that community is
Andrew: "I think Dave is creating his beliefs based on his feelings" Meanwhile, trans people: "I feel like I'm the opposite sex, therefore I believe that I am" 🤔🤦
Why the fuck is this not the top comment?? But also, I love Andrew but I think he got butt hurt after Dave was on Joe’s podcast and said what he said lol
@bobby sternlicht 1. Just because Andrew is not trans does not mean that he is incapable of understanding trans people or what's going on with them (same goes for me). You don't have to be something in order to fully understand it. 2. There's no confusion here. We understand that trans people believe (based on their feelings) that they are actually a different gender and/or sex than what they are physically (when, in reality, they are not). That's all their is too it... It's not complicated or difficult to understand, whatsoever. Sorry if this hurts your feelings! We're more interested in truth than catering to some people's (a hostile group of people at that) delusions. 😆
@bobby sternlicht basically the trans community didn’t like Dave’s jokes, and Andrew stated it’s probably his belief on the way he feels. It’s funny Andrew would say that, because trans claim that they “feel” a certain way about their sex based on their beliefs. They are both saying the same thing, they feel a certain way about certain things based on both of their beliefs. It’s another agree to disagree and that’s about it. It’s not that difficult to understand.
Honestly. This was a great segment and real convo. And it speaks to Dave's greatness because a lot of this has never been touched on in particular. He's forcing hard honest conversations. We can always use honesty. Honesty is always progressive.
This trans issue is coming into every day life and most people think like Dave. Non Trans people are allowed an opinion and he voices the ambiguity and the blurred lines created so well.
Notice of all the white trans people involved with the Netflix walk out only the black trans woman got fired. In the words of Paul Mooney " she got her n#### wake up call" black trans people are making the same mistake biracials made. They think because they share commonality with certain white people that makes them exempt from racism. Unfortunately like my grandfather used to say some people need to burn to learn
Dave literally started his special by saying that he was retiring his trans bits and he won't talk about them again because they can't take a joke. And they're still upset and keep trying to cancel him to shut him up, but he already shut himself up by retiring the bits.
Everyone deserves the chance to live the way they want to live. My whole issue with this conversation is; the trans community wants us to understand and respect their beliefs but the want to cancel persons who don't have the same beliefs as them.
The whole problem with the current generation is this focus on the importance of feelings. I am super compassionate to the plight of trans people. That being said, I'm not going to say or believe things that are false in the name of compassion because I don't see the benefit of denying the nature of reality. Men can't have babies. Pretending otherwise is helpful to no one.
Well no one is saying that trans woman is going to have a baby either. 🤦🏻♂️ see this is exactly what andrew is talking about. People are just so dense that they dont even understand what being trans is. No trans person is going i cant have a baby but you have to tell me i can!
@@suvamkharel541 I have seen many trans activists claiming: " Trans women are real women." "There is no scientific difference between men and women." "Sex is assigned at birth." All 3 of these claims are the literal definition of false. Sex is not "assigned" at birth. (Except in the extremely rare case of intersex) Differences between sexes are readily apparent even to children. I'm all for treating everyone with compassion and fairness, it's the demand to dispense with reality that bothers me. That being said, I have also seen trans activists who are super level headed and admit the absurdity of their more militant/delusional brothers and sisters. Anyway, it's really the idea that now we have large numbers of people willing to say publicly statements they know to be false that scares me more than anything. This extends to conversations around racism as well. The idea that somehow America is as racist now as it was in the 1960's is one good example. It's clearly false by any measurement but lot's of folks are quite happy to pretend that it's true and demand we all agree or be labeled and cancelled. Nuance, and diversity of thought are under attack, along with free speech, which is the very cornerstone of any free society. These days even slight differences of opinion are seen as heresy in some quarters. It's not a positive direction for us to go in. IMHO.

@Michael Johnson So because one wing is possibly more racist it excuses the racism within the other realm? If your case is "at least we're not as racist as those guys" then you should definitely rest it.
It was Dave's final attempt for people to actually listen to him and I find it amazing how many people missed his points. If you are mad at Chappelle, then you did not listen to the him...

What I got from Dave’s special was his frustration with the LGBTQ+ community’s extreme sensitivity when it comes to their OWN and lack of sensitivity or fight for other minority groups. They tend to be quick to cancel and say “you don’t understand me” and slow to come to the table and have a civilized conversation and say “how can we both support each other.”
"I don't make the rules for heaven" This one statement hints that we don't decide the things about our world. Something I think most people forget when trying to figure life out.
I love how people intentionally conflate this issue. Religion is belief. No one cares if a person believes or feels they are a man or woman. No one is going to bully you because of that. The issue is that the trans community wants to bully (cancel) others who don’t believe them to be a different gender. Be what the hell you want to be, just don’t get mad if I don’t agree with a man dressed as a woman walking into a bathroom with my daughter.
It's funny, shows how it went over your head. He highlighted the holes in their ideology. He said you can believe it, but here are the faults in your thought process and here are one of your people I learnt with, we both co existed but it was her own that tore her apart. He did it with comedy in story format and very poignant end. It's a very specific art that ONLY he has the ability to do which makes him the GOAT. Even when he references himself and his lifestyle he doesn't take it seriously. Ironically he stood up for women, as a woman I felt it.
See even when you make comments like that it’s as if you’re saying there are no black homosexual’s And to say oh we’re treated poorly so who gives a shit about how you’re treated is a pretty stupid defense

I love stand up comedy and its true that philosophers can be funny and comedians can be insightful, but to say that comedians evolve into philosophers is an insult against philosophers lol I'm studying philosophy, theology, epistemology, ontology, etc, that simply isn't the same as jokes with social commentary.
@@Soulful96QC sounds like you won’t be a good philosopher if you can’t decipher his simple statement. Good luck making money after you finish studying someone else’s philosophy.
Diogenes was the only REAL philosopher, putting his ideas to the test. He's been framed in a certain light because he pissed off the others so much. And only a few comedians evolved into a sort of philosopher. Carlin and Chappelle among those few.
@ws 2019 lol I still don’t get that perspective tho like a lot of the jokes are about white people and it’s specifically about the lgbtq community but I just kinda wanted him to move on
The fact that Charlemagne is trying to defend trans people instead of speaking on Daves point about blacks, and Charlemagne himself being black, lets you know what side he's on.
Comedy is an art form. What everyone including him forgets about arts is that it’s ambiguous by nature but expected to be interpreted how the artist intended. That’s why you think about why and what influenced it. Some are is abstract intentionally and some art is directional and intentional. David’s art is lost in translation
Andrew explained Dave's stand up very well. He's more of a philosopher at this point and yes he can make us laugh at any point .. however, I didn't find it funny but I didn't find it problematic.
Cancel culture is there because of the politicians who support progressive stances but sometimes relentlessly, more people who didn't at once are feeling empowered.
I would say Carlin wasn’t as story heavy as he was philosophy heavy. Carlin was more about concepts, more about analyzing language/politics/reality. Prior was big on telling stories. Picture when he accidentally lit himself on fire
Don't act like Charlamagne don't look like he wear eyeliner, with his brows on point.... that's why Dave made that joke about him. Man's got a feminine face.
I wouldn’t consider Chappelle’s special as 100% the conventional comedy as we are used to seeing. Mixes both comedy and social commentary. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t powerful. I think it is. He takes comedy to the next level.
Just curious but am I the only one that watched the special and noticed the 2 white women in the middle looking all angry when everyone else around them was laughing and having a good time?
@@manjb7097 It's an observation of something that stood out to me and was curious if it stood out to anyone else. To go to a comedy show and not have a sense of humor is odd to "me".

@Michael Johnson i very much agree with the first part, but the second part exemplifies the problem: who defines the line? Aside obvious hate speech, who determines what is aceptable or not, and in what context? is an honest question
I've been conflicted on how I feel about the special. Love Dave and all his specials but don't think this one deserves all the attention its getting (positive or negative). Don't think it is controversial enough to be "cancellable" or get the hate that it got but my problem with it is just that it wasn't funny. Like not funny at all. It was good story telling and I always enjoy Dave's wisdom but I didn't find myself laughing much at all. There was a few sharp exhales through the nose and "that's a good point" but we can't say a stand up special was good just because its Dave. At this point I think he could walk up to the stage, fart in the mic, walk off and everyone would be like, "Oh my god Dave is a genius"
I remember watching one of his specials where he said , and i'm paraphrasing here; "i'm so fucking famous that i can say whatever i want and you'll pay me lots of money for it'

Like music, comedy is subjective. I found it pretty funny and equally thought provoking. Dave along with people like George Carlin were great at telling stories or speaking truth power well also making it funny at the same time. All part of their genius, in my opinion.
This is what I was trying to explain to my friend lol. he actually thought that Dave Chappelle was somehow struggling with jokes lol. Dave Chappelle had already mastered comedy as a teenager, to think he would struggle with jokes is laughable (no pun intended). But yes Dave has become more preoccupied with the message than the laugh. Carlin-esque. One interesting though, is that while he didn't match the hilarity of his younger years, he matched the energy. It was a different energy from the other Netflix specials. This felt like the original Dave. He even looked less buff and use some of his old vocals.

@Michael Johnson you've replied, but you've failed to elaborate anything you are saying. You call transphobia, but don't explain why is transphobic. You have not said anything about my arguments nor have you answered any of my questions. I know the reason you have not os because you can't. I ask again, in context, what is the homophobic part in any of his last 6 specials? What makes that part homophobic?
@Michael Johnson "Misgendering transwomen is transphobic", ok, fair enough. When did Dave do this though? Please provide me with an example, because he has done exactly the opposite. He says multiple times that trans women are women. Your problem is that you are so stuck in your hate and misunderstandings that you can't understand what is being said. When dave Chappelle made the terf comment, first of all, it wasn't unironacally said, thank you for letting me know you really can't understand the context of what is being said. He was referring to the fact that he is a feminist by definition, and he believes that gender is a fact, which 100% is a fact and if you say otherwise wise you are delusional. This is enough to be called a terf by people like you, just pointing out that people are born from a natural born woman, and are a girl or a boy at birth is enough to be transphobic. Immediately after that bit, he says verbatim, "I am not saying that to say trans women aren't women", but you don't listen. Dave entire point is that we are humans, having a human experience, and we can respect eachother as humans. He is saying that if you feel like a woman, you are a woman, but that is not to say you are the exact same as a woman, there are still differences that are important, otherwise it would be OK for transwomen to compete against born women in sports. If you think it's OK for transwomen to compete against born women, again, you are delusional, and your opinion automatically becomes irrelevant to me. Just because Dave is poking fun at the differences between a trans woman and a natural born woman, IN A STAND UP, yall get mad, and start pulling the transphobic card. And then yall have the nerve to say yall are not too sensitive. BItch please, you are trying to cancel a stand up comic for telling jokes you didn't even understand. You keep saying that the bathroom joke is like saying trans women are crossdressinf, but you've failed to explain why every time. I love when people keep repeating how obvious something is but can't articulate that very obvious thing they are talking about.
I am lost. Dave said, and I quote "I am NOT saying transwoman aren't womem". He said that he agrees w/the author of the harry potter books. Woman do exist. There are 2 genders. Now I am saying that is if a man transitions and is addressed / recognized as a woman it makes sense to me that she is now a woman. Anyone is open to comment. I respect and ask to be respected as well.
Daves argument is that they were originally a man and than transitioned into a woman. But that still means they were originally a man. Transwomen people are trying to say they were always women even before the transition which hes saying is false. And it is. You cannot remove biology to make you feel better. That difference is why transwoman should not be allowed to compete in physical events with other women. Thats not phobic its just science. Because a trans woman will have denser bone structure she got from being male which will give her an unfair advantage in competitions with other females .. They call it exclusionary where it isn't. Its a fact they have an advantage and some of the lbgtq community can't handle facts
So what you're saying is, since it's about feelings, you would have no problem with white people calling blacks the N-word again? After all, they need to get over themselves don't they? Now this is the part where you try make excuses and/or use the trope of "that's different"; except it's not. Don't shit on other minorities and then be shocked if they decide to shit on you back. On another note, there's nothing more disgusting and filthy than a member of one minority punching down on another minority. Don't demand respect if you're not willing to give or earn it.

I personally didn't find it that funny. Not that I didn't like it, but it took a serious tone. I giggled a few times and almost cried at the end. I thought it was close to being a PSA about not hating on people because they might kill themselves. And how much dave cared about Daphne.
This is not what Dave was talking about, Dave Said It Himself, it’s not about transsexuals, it’s about how much power the LGBT community has and dissecting how they have this mysterious power where they have been making more progress then people who are of color and are being oppressed.

"I don't need you to understand me.... I just need you to know that I'm having a human experience" .... it's literaly in his special.
@Michael Johnson yes he should be allowed to say whatever he wants, as long as he’s being funny what’s the problem?
@Michael Johnson criticizing someone is different from trying to harm them or attempting to make them lose their job.

"I feel like I'm the opposite sex, therefore I believe that I am"

Why the fuck is this not the top comment??
But also, I love Andrew but I think he got butt hurt after Dave was on Joe’s podcast and said what he said lol
@bobby sternlicht You obviously do not understand what point he’s trying to make. God bless your soul
@bobby sternlicht 🤙🏽
He is literally just talking about how he doesn't like the privilege of white LGBTQ+ people, that was it.

No trans person is going i cant have a baby but you have to tell me i can!
agreed. This is what happens when women want softer men. It translates into everyone being emotional with women tendencies
@@suvamkharel541 I have seen many trans activists claiming:
" Trans women are real women."
"There is no scientific difference between men and women."
"Sex is assigned at birth."
All 3 of these claims are the literal definition of false.
IMHO.

At this point I think he could walk up to the stage, fart in the mic, walk off and everyone would be like, "Oh my god Dave is a genius"
i feel you
I remember watching one of his specials where he said , and i'm paraphrasing here; "i'm so fucking famous that i can say whatever i want and you'll pay me lots of money for it'
Yes it was funny, brutally funny.
You sound jealous
@@tilabryant5591 I mean aren’t we all a bit jealous of Dave 😂 he’s a goat. The tone of my comment was more so disappointed and confused though at why the special is getting so much attention. I wish he would’ve made his jokes more offensive tbh atleast then it would’ve been funny. Instead of just going up and making a bunch of valid points about the trans community and getting backlash he might as well have just gone up and actually told some savage jokes. It just felt like I was listening to my drunk uncle at the cookout complain about trans people for over an hour without even telling a joke.
Like music, comedy is subjective. I found it pretty funny and equally thought provoking. Dave along with people like George Carlin were great at telling stories or speaking truth power well also making it funny at the same time. All part of their genius, in my opinion.
Challamagne always trying to be careful himself, trying to play safe and not offend people...
Kwame reminded him, lol.
Charlemagne being a werewolf is amazing 🤣
This is what I was trying to explain to my friend lol. he actually thought that Dave Chappelle was somehow struggling with jokes lol. Dave Chappelle had already mastered comedy as a teenager, to think he would struggle with jokes is laughable (no pun intended). But yes Dave has become more preoccupied with the message than the laugh. Carlin-esque. One interesting though, is that while he didn't match the hilarity of his younger years, he matched the energy. It was a different energy from the other Netflix specials. This felt like the original Dave. He even looked less buff and use some of his old vocals.
Good point
@Michael Johnson Did you understand why he said "Im team Terf"? Also your analogy about Bill burr talking about a black guy coming in the bathroom is not perfect as you call it, far from it. Dave was talking about a person that looks like a woman, dresses like a woman and behaves like a woman comes into the men's restroom, goes to the urinal next to him and pulls their dick out. How is that even close to a white guy seeing a black guy come in the bathroom? Now please tell me, in context, what did Dave chappelle say in any of his last 6 specials that was transphobic in your eyes?
@Michael Johnson you've replied, but you've failed to elaborate anything you are saying. You call transphobia, but don't explain why is transphobic. You have not said anything about my arguments nor have you answered any of my questions. I know the reason you have not os because you can't. Just saying, "the joke about the bathroom" and "I am team terf" comment is not nearly enough to come to the conclusion that Dave chappelle is homophobic.
@Michael Johnson and stop liking your own comments, it's sad

He's just paying for his insurance policy for his whole Spanish Fly admittance thing. I don't think he really means anything he says.
16:31 lol brilliant
People need to get over themselves. Feelings are subjective and shouldn’t translate into the real world in any meaningful way
So what you're saying is, since it's about feelings, you would have no problem with white people calling blacks the N-word again? After all, they need to get over themselves don't they? Now this is the part where you try make excuses and/or use the trope of "that's different"; except it's not. Don't shit on other minorities and then be shocked if they decide to shit on you back.
On another note, there's nothing more disgusting and filthy than a member of one minority punching down on another minority. Don't demand respect if you're not willing to give or earn it.
@@JonInCanada1 minstrel shows were the #1 form of comedy in the USA for over 100 years.
@@JonInCanada1 lol thanks for assuming what I said. You might have to many chromosomes
@@Pexodus11 Except I'm not wrong am I? You proffered an excuse for Chapelle regarding words not doing any real world harm. I'm merely using that standard and applying it to a different word. That you can't see the principle at work would seem to indicate that it is you who is not quite up to speed.
Also, interesting use of a chromosome joke, as if to imply people with Downs Syndrome are somehow less than. Speaks volumes that.
Dave is headed into that George Carlin lane where instead of just telling jokes, his specials are social commentaries.
Dave Chappelle will never, in his lifetime, ever rise to the brilliance of Carlin. In fact (and yes, watch some of his interviews), George was an LGBTQ ally until the day he died. He would rip the black off Chappelle's ass.

He meant no one can convince him he wasn't. Based on the experience he had. If I have an experience that's abnormal, you can't convince me it didn't happen. I remember it. Now my memory could be false...but unless you have evidence, I'm not believing it didn't happen.

The part about the white, gay guy who was filming him and when Dave called him on it, he pulled out his cell phone and called the cops. To quote Dave "Gay people are gay, until they need to be white again. And THAT'S what I have a problem with!". Oh, Catlin Jenner being named "Women of the Year and she's only been a woman for 1 year" was a good point too. Funny how nobody is upset that he talked about white Hollywood feminist who thought dressing up in black gowns at an award show was a "protest", but didn't protest against Harvey Weinstein. I thin he's looking at YOU MERYL STREEP!
Its not a lack of understand. I fully understand the trans gender perspective, I just don't agree with their premise. Saying I lack understanding is implying that I have to agree with their perspective. I wish them all the best, and I dont think people should harrass them, and I will probably call them by their preferred pronouns because I not looking to just intentially offend people.
I will however refuse to call them by their pronouns if we are in a debate setting where they claim that sex and gender have no connection, or I will speak out and disagree when they want to give hormone blockers to children, and i will disagree with them if they try to put trans woman in womans sports.
“ my years were round like your Schulz”
I personally didn't find it that funny. Not that I didn't like it, but it took a serious tone. I giggled a few times and almost cried at the end. I thought it was close to being a PSA about not hating on people because they might kill themselves. And how much dave cared about Daphne.
Yea it felt more like a monologue with comedy in it than a standup special
It’s almost narcissistic to assume you have the right to not be offended, if you don’t like don’t watch it
