This is brilliant, an inspired witness to an eternal truth. That chorus of Hallelujahs before the final verse is lament, a beautiful expression of the glory of the Cross. God bless all involved in this gift!
i remember seeing this performance when i was a little girl. it completely changed my life. Heather is absolutely incredible, and John Colado is too. my mom was in the choir, and it was so beautiful, everything
This is the most gorgeous and beautiful performance of this song I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. It’s so emotional and heart-wrenching. I cry every time I see it.
The original lyrics had nothing to do with this theme/story. You could literally re-write any song by keeping the melody and change the lyrics to religious-themed. That doesn't mean it would be more "right".
Yes, but it fits the original just as well. That's why it's the title and chorus. You really think Jeff Buckley made "wrong" lryics on purpose just to piss people off? The original had a completely different, but still powerful story. It compared the love between man and the love between man and god (hallelujah = praise/love to god)- showing how it can never be as perfect or loving, but we try anyway. A song can have a religious-themed title and not be gospel. No song is more "right" if you completely change the author's intent.
Incredible singers, and a heart felt spiritual musical for all ears to hear, and all hearts that are open to receive the words of Jesus. A friend and I have the pleasure and hope of going to see and hear this woman of God perform in North Carolina in February 2022. We are praying for a safe journey, and a great vacation time in North Carolina.
I found this amazing song and video in 2018. I have watched it hundreds of times. It is the most beautiful song I have ever heard, it brings me to tears almost every time I watch it. I am dumbfounded that it has less than 200k views. Thank you for this blessing.
My favorite part of this entire song came at 4:54: "And as I watched you hanging there, Your swollen face and bloody hair, Your lips were barely moving But I heard you. You begged the Father to forgive And in your wounds I saw my sin. And as You died my ears could finally hear you. Hallelujah." Absolutely beautiful lyrics executed by a fantastically skilled Broadway veteran! (Heather Headley is one of my favorite Broadway actresses!) The man who did the duet with her did a great job, too. Love from New York! :)
W O W!!! This was EPIC, what an astounding and brilliant performance by my trini sister Heather Headley! 👏👏👏😍😍😍 And the male vocalist was on point too 💪🙏👌👍💖🎉🔥🔥🔥
Jelynda Simpson IT WAS AMAZING! my teenage son was brought to tears, & my other teenage son prayed after the performance.(MY SONS NEVER DO THIS) It was truly amazing. I'm getting the same chills watching the video, as i did sitting in the audience.
Michelle Diaz How amazing is our God?! I love to hear this about your family. Have you been attending Harvest long? Were you saved through this ministry? I first learned about Harvest/ Vertical by listening to Pastor James on the radio here in Arizona. It's a powerful ministry! 🙏🏼😃
Jelynda Simpson oh my goodness! God is great! I came to faith by listening to Klove radio. Then, a friend mentioned Moody Radio, I've been listening to Walk in the Word on Moody Radio since 2011. I live in Chicago & never thought I'd be able to make it Rolling Meadows by myself, but again a friend mentioned going to Harvest & my husband became interested. I'm pretty sure Harvest has churches in Arizona, if you haven't checked it out, please do. 😊
I cried so hard listening to this haha I've been crying for the Lord for the past few mins and my goodness I just I want to feel his presence I need discernment Lord please help us I need you Lord please don't let it be too late for me
the Most Beautiful rendition I have ever heard. As I listen it stirs my heart once again filling it with great love for the Love Christ poured out for me... Thank You My King My Savior ...
This is a lovely rendition of the song. I couldn't say that it is better then the original but it is still a beautiful version. She has a truly wonderful voice.
I disagree the original lyrics were beautiful and very powerful. They talked of a man who loved a woman and allowed her to hurt him because he loved her so much which is kind of a metaphor for when Jesus died on the cross for our sins because of how much he loved us he let us hurt him. I understand you enjoy this version more but please be respectful of the original lyrics and the original writer of this masterpiece. God bless you.
Ray Carmichael So true; I loved the tune, but the words did not match the hallelujah. Now with this version of the song, they match and the result is powerful and moving.
Heather is not just an extraordinary sinner and one of the best ever...she has a thing for communicating music in such a way that epitomizes the deepest depth of meaning. Others are focused on sounding great but miss out on the communication aspect where they could switch things up a bit for effective meaning-making. Thing is, besides Whitney (that I know of), very few have this natural ability and the passion that goes hand in hand with it. And no, I do not mean performance...too often this conveys theatrics and barely there clothing and twerking. What I am talking about is the use of one's voice to touch the very soul and lift people to another place of being, of understanding...
Hi Amelia 1967- This video has become my go-to when fear, frustration, emotional or physical pain threatens to overwhelm me. It's a blessed reminder from God of the love He has for me. May you feel His Love wrap around you in tough times and may He bless you. Know that you are loved by God!
Definitely my favorite version of Hallelujah. This should have been the original, it really draws you into the whole sacrifice of Jesus! I would love if I could have the lyrics for this version 😇
I’ve heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord You know it well before he sang it to You It goes like this, the fourth the fifth The minor fall the major lift The shepherd boy composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah The storm had raged, the ocean spoke While You were sleeping in the boat Angry and afraid I came and woke You Three words before the winds would cease Peace be still then You turned to me My child have faith to hear the Hallelujah At dinner on that final night You broke the bread You poured the wine You said Your blood was spilling for forgiveness Well, like a slave You washed my feet And said my child I’ve made you clean Yet somehow still I’ve missed Your Hallelujah I tried to stay awake and pray As bloody sweat ran down Your face They came and with a kiss they would betray You Then Pilate and his government They mocked You beat You crowned Your head They led You up the hill of Hallelujah And as I watched You hanging there Your swollen face and bloody hair Your lips were barely moving, but I heard You You begged the Father to forgive And in Your wounds I saw my sin And as you died my ears could finally hear You Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I disagree. The original had a completely different, but still powerful story. It compared the love between man and the love between man and god (hallelujah = praise/love to god)- showing how it can never be as perfect or loving, but we try anyway. I actually think the original is a sadder song. I never quite believed the historical accuracy of Jesus's death personally and that's where I can't quite get behind this version. But it's still pretty.
Oh wow! Is this Heather Headley from Sweet Magnolias?!?!? I was looking for church service times and this video popped up! What a blessing to find this 🥰🥰🥰
Heather has been touched by God. Her voice gives us a tiny glimpse of what the perfection of Heaven may be like!
Thanks for the name of the male singer
I don't think I've ever heard a better rendition of this song
This is the most gorgeous and beautiful performance of this song I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. It’s so emotional and heart-wrenching. I cry every time I see it.
Glad you loved it. I did also however there are so many more renditions of this song. Such a wonderful song, they're so many great ones. Look them up
I was there in person, but this NEVER GETS OLD. Thankful to God for a right understanding of worship in its many forms from my time with this church.
I caould sing it all day ! Its like a lullaby song
The song was always beautiful but this is the first time I understood it. The lyrics are EVERYTHING. 🙋🏾♀️ Hallelujah
The most beautiful song I have ever heard. I can't stop watching this.
What a tribute to Jesus this is. The lyrics are perfect, and she sang her heart out for the Lord...just beautiful!
I think I've watched this music vid a dozen times, and I still love it. Powerful. Thank you.
It is truly beautiful..
This is one of my go to worship songs! Spirit filled!!
I love the new lyrics. I love this song more, It deserves the right lyrics. God bless those people who rewrote the songs.
The original lyrics had nothing to do with this theme/story. You could literally re-write any song by keeping the melody and change the lyrics to religious-themed. That doesn't mean it would be more "right".
it is more right, as the title itself "Hallelujah" which means "praise the Lord".
Yes, but it fits the original just as well. That's why it's the title and chorus. You really think Jeff Buckley made "wrong" lryics on purpose just to piss people off? The original had a completely different, but still powerful story. A song can have a religious-themed title and not be gospel. No song is more "right" if you completely change the author's intent.
That's an insult to Cohen. The lyrics don't to be rewritten to be more "religious"
@@saori8605 leonard cohen wrote the song, not Buckley
This is truly amazing! Both vocal performances were absolutely stunning! God has blessed this performance!

I could.
Beautiful! Oh, the sacrifices the Lord made for us.
Finally - great and faith-based words set to an incredible tune instead of the really terrible original words! I think this song is finally redeemed!

I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
You know it well before he sang it to You
It goes like this, the fourth the fifth
The minor fall the major lift
The shepherd boy composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
The storm had raged, the ocean spoke
While You were sleeping in the boat
Angry and afraid I came and woke You
Three words before the winds would cease
Peace be still then You turned to me
My child have faith to hear the Hallelujah
At dinner on that final night
You broke the bread You poured the wine
You said Your blood was spilling for forgiveness
Well, like a slave You washed my feet
And said my child I’ve made you clean
Yet somehow still I’ve missed Your Hallelujah
I tried to stay awake and pray
As bloody sweat ran down Your face
They came and with a kiss they would betray You
Then Pilate and his government
They mocked You beat You crowned Your head
They led You up the hill of Hallelujah
And as I watched You hanging there
Your swollen face and bloody hair
Your lips were barely moving, but I heard You
You begged the Father to forgive
And in Your wounds I saw my sin
And as you died my ears could finally hear You
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
