No quest markers, no fast Travel , Weight limit, 1 save file , failable quests if you wait too long , no basic dodge roll for all classes this game is for fans and everyone else will be divisive about it and either love it or hate it, hand holding has been a stable for many years now, I cant wait to play this my self, am a huge dd 1 fan
Some of the classes with no dodge, even the fighter/warrior have the shield or can block...Its not quite like Dark souls, you can Jump at the right time to "dodge" enemies. Also no stamina for normal attacks, only spells/special attacks. It appears you will have some movement options that can be used as dodges for quite a few of the classes....in the footage. Still, I loved the first game, although I was not sure how I would like the pawns. For a Improvement over Something like Eldin ring, only thing you GOTTA lockon for is some spells, and its way more intuitive and you actually get to aim ur bow. Controls are also much better. In total Id play Dragons Dogma dark arisen the first game over ANY souls game or Elden ring or any CLONE of dark souls.
Thing is, I do like my hand held at times....and the only one save thing, not really sure what that's about. But still it looks good enough to give it a go. Sadly, it's already been confirmed that there is only 10 vocations, which have all been revealed already. However, based off of the way things were worded, as well as some implications, it seems likely we'll get more vocations in DLC.
@theunhappygamer1744 You can switch between all classes in the same playthrough. What do you mean? Also, people were expecting more vocations, because the first game had 9, and considering that 2 of DD2's 10 are just one of the DD1's 9 vocations split in 2, it feels like we're basically getting the same amount. Plus one of the 10 vocations is a jack-of-all-trades that doesn't really provide anything new, besides being all at once. Which makes it then feel like even less. Not to mention that there was so many options for vocations that were available in DD Online, yet they didn't take anything from that. (Really wish we got DDOnline's Strider & Alchemist..) Don't get me wrong though, I'm still incredibly hyped, but I hope that it turned out to be a mistranslation or something.
Warfarer is basically the "free hybrid" builder. I imagine people will have mystic knight builds and sorcery theifs before the second moth post release.
@@DevinOfBacon They said you can switch vocations with out starting a new game? Well thats good. I think 10 vocations is enough, its looks like they put a lot of work into making each one play completely different. Honestly even if I play through the game more than once I seriously doubt I will ever play all 10 longer than it takes to check out the class and how it plays.
A lot of the lore (like monsters) inspired by mythologies. For example, Medusa and Talos are both from Greek myths. I know, I am geeking out - but FUN STUFF!
@Falcon will you be playing on your PC or console for dragons dogma 2? I'm super stoked for this and incredibly excited. Dragons dogma and it's expansion are held in the highest levels of my all time favorites even going as far as being my favorite game ever created(next to remnant and remnant 2). Stoked to see you just as excited! Just a few more weeks 🤣
I got this info from another playthrough, so a bit of grain of salt to be taken with it, but during your Races section, at the moment your Arisen cannot be an elf. You can give them pointed ears and make a half elf kinda thing though. Apparently your pawn is the one though who can full on be someone of the elf race. And its one of their skills that translates Elvish into something your character can understand.
What? Have you not been keeping up? This has already been regarded as a reimagining to what Hideaki wanted to do with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, so it's effectively already a remaster.
Dragon's Dogma 1 and DLC Dark Arisen were already one of the best rpg games of all time in my opinion. The amount of detail and difference between each class is really breathtaking. It's launch was overshadowed by other games from 2012 and 2013, respectively. This is the most hype than I've ever seen for the game and I'm all for it. Let's go!
Their going away from the min max lvl system according to an interview. With each vocation having its own lvl stat distribution multiple saves arent really needed. The game will also likely have a new game + like the first one allowing you to get missed items/quest lines.
I hope that's true about the stats I hated the fact that in the first game you had to play assassin of all things to get your magic damage up for the lvl 100 to 200 it sucked I would also be good with being given stat points to place as you like
I've never played DD1 but seeing how in depth character creation is really got me interested in DD2, I really like how rpg games really fully create a character unlike other rpg games where you're only create a face and that's it
@@Willup69Controls were a little clunkdy in DD1, there's no quest markers, no fast travel, et cetera. While I know it's a good game it certainly has it quirks designed around its gameplay loop

I'm probably literally nuts - But I swear all of this footage to me looks just like I remember the original - especially with character battle animations (BUT The mega scan asset open world and the sweeping long distance vistas do look freaking amazing)
Maybe I will be proven wrong in the long run, but I think there will be no assassin or mystic knight ever, not with these names at least. It seems to me that they designed the vocations around a gameplay with just one weapon and all the Identity of the vocation must be around that one weapon, that must be as unique as possible. But knowing that mystic knight and assassin were very popular vocations before they decided to create the warfarer, which I think is what they meant to cover the multiple weapon vocations that people wish from before. So you will not be able to create a mystic knight or assassin, but you would be to create a warfarer that you can personalize to have at least almost the same feel as these vocations had before
Yes and if you take another players pawn that has experience in a quest or region of the map that pawn will tell you about it and give advice as you journey. Pawns have different knowledge of all the games monsters and quests. So a pawn that has encountered more monsters will be able to tell you more weaknesses organically
I just hope they are good directions so I don’t need to open a guide all the time like a few games that try contextual directions and fail. However I’m convinced they will be good cause capcom
@@RyuLightorb that can be tricky to pull off. This reminds me of Outward. I loved that game too. It didn't have fast travel, it didn't have map markers, hell it didn't show where you were on the map. Everything was based off landmarks and you figuring out where you were. I hope this is the same!
Dragons Dogma on the PS3 pieced together my life when I was 8-10, which I recently realized is impressive, as my friend who is also very active in the souls-like genre struggled to do anything 😭
No one talks about story, quests, loot (Armor/weapons and so on) in and RPG. Its so strange for me. Everybody only talks about the "insane" combat and graphics... I have doubts.
I like fast travel in video games. Sometimes I don't feel like driving to the location or walking to it. I just want to get my location fast and in hurry. Enough said.
Same, especially because you can choose to not use it. Sometimes you want to fully simulate going somewhere (even if it's just walking back out of some remote location), but other times you may be short on time, or staying up later than you intended, lol.
@@LanceUppercut I play video games 🎮 for the stories, so if the quest marker is on the other side of the map, and I don’t feel like walking or driving, and fast travel is an option, I’m taking fast travel. Enough said.
If travel is actually interesting, then it's great that fast travel is limited. But, if we're talking about a game where traversing the open world is basically a chore, then yeah.
The original is so underrated, especially at release for years. I will never forget the first time I came up against some enemies after the first town and was wiped out in spite of doing pretty ok fighting. Then I was like oh wow ok game on
Yes, but IMO its way more fair than say dark souls or elden ring, you don't get just Cheap shotted left and right. Its way more tactical and intentional and doesn't piss me off like souls games or ER.
A friend of mine showed concern for the capped frame rate but, same as you, I trust Capcom and their latest releases have performed well on consoles but I am glad to learn it won't be capped, for sure.
Playing games at 60-120 FPS was one of the major selling points to investing in a PS5 plus monitor/ tv that could handle it, so charging 70 dollars for a game locked at 30 is a deal breaker. So the "uncapped" framerate is nice to hear, hopefully things are smooth
From what CapCom has said previously, the single save file is necessary due to the pawn system. If you had multiple save files with basically multiple differently leveled and equipped pawns, the game wouldn’t know which version to choose to be shared on the global network.
On PC, you can just switch your Steam Account, (if you have family library enabled, anyone can play a game connected to that family on the Steam Profile), and you'll be able to make another character. That's how it works currently with DDDA
i mean you should be able to in a single playtrough, you can change class to a guy in the city and stats get reallocated to fitness it best, so if you don't like a class you picked, you can just change it, you can recasomize you pg too if you want
You can change your vocation/build any time you want. There is no stat system, the only build is based on your gear choice and skill selection, both of which can be changed however you want.
I get it but I'm pretty certain the reason they dont allow for more than one active character at a time is because if they allowed more, the pawn rift would be flooded with inactive and useless pawns that are abandoned, so they never get better or level up etc. its the only reason I can think of for why they'd keep it like it was before
@@KrisOnBassalso having two characters would allow weird game breaking stuff I’m sure like gifting a one of a kind item to a pawn from another one of your characters allowing that character to have more than one of that item.
Framerate unlocked is good news for future console generation or pro upgrades, because locked framerate is still locked after more power is available and it’s up to the devs to patch it
I am skeptical. DRM has me thinking nah at the moment, so it is certainly something I will wait to hear reviews about. Usually DRM tends to negatively affect games, not always, but more often than not in my experience so it has me weary. It looks interesting over all, but I've just run into too many DRM issues in the past that caused slow down in really dumb ways.
The 10 vocations are all there is in the game. It has been mentioned in a dev interview. Although it is not clear if more would be added in the future.
I cannot wait to play this game, played the original but kinda got lost and never came back to it. But with how amazing it looks I am gonna give all my time to this game !!!
Recent previews have shown it runs at 30 FPS on PS5. Just because you might be able to get 60 fps when you're by yourself, so there's no AI or physics running, doesn't change the fact it's a 30 FPS game. They would've announced a performance mode if there was going to be one and the lack of that means it's CPU limited... meaning it'll be 30 FPS on the PS5 Pro too.
Well, the reason they only need one save slot is because you can change your vocation whenever you want. You can level all the vocations with a single character and change your pawns vocation as well. There is no reason to have more than one, you can do everything on a single character with a single pawn.
I think many folks got annoyed at the save file was due to fear of doing what Like A Dragon infinite wealth did, where they initially wanted to monetize save slots. But the creator did say it's because he wanted the player to experience a single, complete and immersive playthrough or something to that effect
i was going to play Dragons Dogma 2 on ps5 wether it was going to be locked at 30 fps or not because i had already accepted it and it really wasnt a dealbreaker after weighing in all the other awesome things about this game but hearing that it has been officially confirmed that dragon's dogma will not be capped at 30 fps still makes me extremely happy and relieved
I've never played Dragons Dogma. But this looks fun with great character customization and combat. Is it chronological to the first game or a standalone? Should I watch a playthrough or a recap of the first game?
"wolves hunt in packs" Me, wearing a wolf pelt helm and shoulders having killed three quarters of the wolves in Gransys after already killing a dragon, daemon, and god.
wait how is warfarer bad? able equip all skills and arguments already carry over? So a class where you choose your fav weps and skills from essentially all over classes? sounds pretty cool to use for fun min maxing
vocations don't define you as much as in dd1. content creators, who tested earlier builds of the game, confirmed that leveling acts like the original with you getting stats based on your current vocation but every time you switch vocations those stats change to suit the vocation you swapped to. gone are the days of wanting a magic damage build for a hybrid class so you would want to level to 200 as sorcerer from as early as you can get it. you are 100% free to swap to whatever you want at any time, to try things out, with no penalties what so ever. apart from finding weapons, maybe new armor for the vocation, and having to acquire its skills, i guess. those are minor steps to reach a whole new fun play style so it's well worth it. this makes the 1 save file matter a bit less but still, i'm a bit worried about bugs with 1 save file. modern gaming and all that. quest scripting bugs being the main issue for me. yes, new game plus will likely exist but quest bugging out and losing them for a playthrough would still suck.
The original Dragon's Dogma is one of the best action RPGs ever made, despite the so called jank. The story was a little difficult to get into, and the Role Playing elements were a little shallow in terms of NPC interaction, but the action itself and the myriad playstyles were top tier, better than just about any other game in the genre. It is a true cult classic, and damn near a masterpiece, at least considering how well everything came together despite there being so many unique systems at play. If DD2 is only a rehash with a new world map, new monster's and much better graphics, that alone will justify the purchasing price. But if they substantially improve the story and NPC interactions, it will be a masterpiece.
Will buy it on day one, for sure. HOWEVER! My past traumas with this Game seem to have returned: Ox cart One save Out-of-Breath animation Pawns Sigh. That character editor is just too awesome, so what can I do...
In this video it's mentioned that you can play as an elf. As far as I know though, you can't. Anyone has proof of either ? Also about the classes, Itsuno said there would only be those 10 at launch. Maybe more will come later.
This is my pick on the 22nd I think it’s looking pretty awesome and I’m excited when I see the big monsters R of R looks good but i think this will give me more fun and more hours to grind
i'm actually wondering if the dragon's plague could be turned in to a grief bomb, like if your pawn gets to a high level of infection and other people hire your pawn it could have a devastating effect that could really screw other people over
i just hope there are more vocations. i'ma be really sad if a mystic knight type isnt a thing (being basically a brick wall to enemies with a cannons attahed was awesome)
All I need to know is, was Sweet Baby Inc or some other consultant group working with the writing team, or were they free to make the game they wanted?
Fans of the original do you think they will have still have jt where Weapons and armor can be enhanced above the 3-Star level from killing dragons or drakes
I absolutely love the genre (I can't say how many hours I spent playing Skyrim/Mass Effect/Dragon Age/Etc), but I don't know if I'm feeling this. I didn't play DD1, so I know nothing about it. For someone who may be on the fence, and from anyone who's played DD1 and the others I mentioned, how would this compare?
You can snag the first game for like 10 bucks, and despite the graphics aging, it still plays fine imo. Its one of my favorite games and I don't recommend too many single player games. You could also see some reviews maybe like on steam? Some people complained about running everywhere with the stamina draining for sprinting, but u can eat stuff to refill it sooo yea...i dunno. I played WAY more games with boring ass everything in the world and this was always fun to wander around even the same areas as you could encounter different enemies. I am pretty sure its the same here, and then...it appears they have perhaps added time/special quests?
I'm looking forward to the Before you Buy. This game seems pretty overwhelming to get into as I never played the 1st one. I just hope that it doesn't end up like Baulders Gate for me where I got very lost and confused and eventually stuck on an enemy I can't beat with no way to escape.
TIME IS CRUSHING MEEEEEE INTO A PINK CIGARETTE, AND THAT IS ALL THAT YOU'LL GET MY MIND WON'T BE FREE UNTIL I SEE YOU DESU, AND THEN I KNOW YOU'RE DESU
What I'd love with this sort of game is multiplayer. Very deep mechanics but with friends jumping in (as pawns) would be cool. Thought this ever since DD1
This game needs to alter pawn behaviours through some kind of menu instead of learning through battle. This will allow for more strategy and control. Instead of all the pawns copying what you used to do. If i make a pawn able to carry a lot i expect him to carry. Not learn the habbit of climing a giant or somthing bc my rogue keeps doing it.
I understand already why there is no Co-Op or multiplayer in this game. Could you imagine a 2h berserker type with a trickster working and communicating in real time to best utilize the berserkers insane damage? Trickster could just setup attacks for 2h smashing like its nothing, it would trivialize the combat. Or if there are three people?!? A caster, Warfarer and trickster? Or warfarer, trickster, zerker? If Warfarer is a Jack of All Trades type, it can heal, dps and offtank just not as good as a dedicated of anything. The combos for an all player cast would just be silly.
I was already excited for this when i thought it might just be a prettier version. Now I'm even more hyped for it! The original is one of my favorite games.
sheesh.. that game looks good.. and a "pawn" partner npc ai that is customizable that learns progressively same as the player?? they literally made a " LIVING AI " holy!!!!
I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced, but the recent news about 30fps on console has me concerned. Gonna have to wait for release and proper reviews.
When you hire pawns they can lead you to quests or loot, but if your pawn is hired when you play will they know information about the game from the other players that used your main pawn? Does your main pawn learn if used by another player?

@@therandomfuc that's basically what I did, though most of them were after I was level 180+ problem is, to min max required you to be a certain vocation during certain levels
F hand holding. I agree. Have you played Outward? A really good no-hand-holding title
@@jessemiller3108 outward had good ideas but i didnt enjoy it , abit too Indie to me in terms of jank
Thing is, I do like my hand held at times....and the only one save thing, not really sure what that's about. But still it looks good enough to give it a go. At the end of the day, it's a $70 investment, so if I don't like, I can always tell myself that I have spent more on worse and move on with life.
@@jacobyrassilon Really still one of the biggest downs for many apparently in DD1 was just having to run everywhere and no fast travel. Its not a hand holding game, but its not super complicated. There are No annoying puzzles in the first game, so id imagine this is similar. Honestly in the first game i thought the map was huge, and yet it was not. I hope they filled it with great things to explore, the first game did fine, but it could be improved.
the director came out and said he only wants one save file so people take their time on each play through and enjoy the world/experience they have created instead of loading back and forth just to get things done.

If the save file manage to get corrupted, potentially hundreds of hours of gameplay is lost. That is a red flag for me...
Inject this game into my veins, the perfect game to play until Shadow of the Erdtree
4:58 I had to go back and hear that part again. I could swear the first time i heard it as Re Jizz.
Sadly, it's already been confirmed that there is only 10 vocations, which have all been revealed already.
However, based off of the way things were worded, as well as some implications, it seems likely we'll get more vocations in DLC.
I could totally see them being DLC it’s too easy lol
Why is that sad? Being that you have to erase your old game to start a new character 10 vocations seem like more than enough.
(Really wish we got DDOnline's Strider & Alchemist..)
Don't get me wrong though, I'm still incredibly hyped, but I hope that it turned out to be a mistranslation or something.
One might even say you are... Greeking out?
Hopefully this sells well. So we get a remaster of Dragons Dogma 1.
It's gonna sell more than 20 milllion copies like MHW (MHW 24 mil copies as for now)
@greatrug427 Uhmmm. well. THIS is basically a dd1 remake lol
What? Have you not been keeping up? This has already been regarded as a reimagining to what Hideaki wanted to do with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, so it's effectively already a remaster.
Why tf would you want a remaster when this looks to be better in every single way?
Dragon's Dogma 1 and DLC Dark Arisen were already one of the best rpg games of all time in my opinion. The amount of detail and difference between each class is really breathtaking. It's launch was overshadowed by other games from 2012 and 2013, respectively. This is the most hype than I've ever seen for the game and I'm all for it. Let's go!
The inventory was really off putting :(
Their going away from the min max lvl system according to an interview. With each vocation having its own lvl stat distribution multiple saves arent really needed. The game will also likely have a new game + like the first one allowing you to get missed items/quest lines.
I hope that's true about the stats I hated the fact that in the first game you had to play assassin of all things to get your magic damage up for the lvl 100 to 200 it sucked I would also be good with being given stat points to place as you like
I've never played DD1 but seeing how in depth character creation is really got me interested in DD2, I really like how rpg games really fully create a character unlike other rpg games where you're only create a face and that's it
Its not for everyone, be forewarned lol
@@rundown132can you expand on why it’s not for everyone? I didn’t play the first one, but this one looks so fun!
@@Willup69Controls were a little clunkdy in DD1, there's no quest markers, no fast travel, et cetera. While I know it's a good game it certainly has it quirks designed around its gameplay loop
@@Willup69the pace is a lot slower, you’re walking everywhere and quests could take 10 minutes just to reach not accounting for encounters and things in between
@@Willup69 Additionally as you wander around and take damage your max HP decreases, so you actually have to plan around that and go back to town and rest instead of just wandering around killing everything. Higher level and/or big enemies absolutely _will_ stomp your butt if you are not ready. Fast travel is extremely limited and expensive.
So you will not be able to create a mystic knight or assassin, but you would be to create a warfarer that you can personalize to have at least almost the same feel as these vocations had before
Yea it appears you basically get free reign to mix and match anything so like mystic knight/archer combo?
No following the glowy icon from point a to point b? Actual contextual directions and info? I think I'm in love!

There’s fast travel in the game, but if you don’t like traveling this won’t be for you.
@@LanceUppercut I play video games 🎮 for the stories, so if the quest marker is on the other side of the map, and I don’t feel like walking or driving, and fast travel is an option, I’m taking fast travel. Enough said.
@@thebigenchilada678 It’s not the same Fast Travel as in Horizon Forbidden West.
Fast travel is different in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

@@douglasduda9826 agree I actually can't stand the souls games. this is very fair, its skill based and that's what made it awesome
One thing that we also need to know is our potato can’t run it.
I know how important the pawns are to Dragon's Dogma. But I wish so desperately that I could play this game with my brother
It would be cool to have an option when you rent a pawn to have the player who created that pawn play as them.
The lack of multiple character slots is such a gut punch. I make dozens of builds in games…. I thought they would’ve updated this
You should be able to change vocations at will, and also the leveling system is changed, so now you get set stats without having to min max
i mean you should be able to in a single playtrough, you can change class to a guy in the city and stats get reallocated to fitness it best, so if you don't like a class you picked, you can just change it, you can recasomize you pg too if you want
You can change your vocation/build any time you want. There is no stat system, the only build is based on your gear choice and skill selection, both of which can be changed however you want.
I get it but I'm pretty certain the reason they dont allow for more than one active character at a time is because if they allowed more, the pawn rift would be flooded with inactive and useless pawns that are abandoned, so they never get better or level up etc. its the only reason I can think of for why they'd keep it like it was before
@@KrisOnBassalso having two characters would allow weird game breaking stuff I’m sure like gifting a one of a kind item to a pawn from another one of your characters allowing that character to have more than one of that item.
only thing that is irritating me, is fights every 10 seconds outside of city...
Framerate unlocked is good news for future console generation or pro upgrades, because locked framerate is still locked after more power is available and it’s up to the devs to patch it
Falcon is my homie. It’s always refreshing to click on a gamer ranx video and hearing falcon
I really like the fact that this game exists. And I think it’ll be amazing-but having one save file is egregious.
The 10 vocations are all there is in the game. It has been mentioned in a dev interview. Although it is not clear if more would be added in the future.
I cannot wait to play this game, played the original but kinda got lost and never came back to it. But with how amazing it looks I am gonna give all my time to this game !!!
Don't care about the reasons. It's a single player RPG. If I want to make 50 different characters, I should be able too.
There is no reason to have more than one, you can do everything on a single character with a single pawn.
nah, there's one reason for multiple saves: character creation is amazingly variable, but you only get to do it twice without erasing saves.
@@evry1elsesukkz All you really change is the appearance and sex though, it doesn't really change how you play the game.
I get how they really value it being single player, but does it really take anything away to at least make it optional to play it co-op?
You can’t technically be an elf. You can put elf ears on, but the game doesn’t register you as an elf.
Elfphobic. I’m an Elf if I say i’m an Elf
Should I watch a playthrough or a recap of the first game?

vocations don't define you as much as in dd1. content creators, who tested earlier builds of the game, confirmed that leveling acts like the original with you getting stats based on your current vocation but every time you switch vocations those stats change to suit the vocation you swapped to. gone are the days of wanting a magic damage build for a hybrid class so you would want to level to 200 as sorcerer from as early as you can get it. you are 100% free to swap to whatever you want at any time, to try things out, with no penalties what so ever. apart from finding weapons, maybe new armor for the vocation, and having to acquire its skills, i guess. those are minor steps to reach a whole new fun play style so it's well worth it.
this makes the 1 save file matter a bit less but still, i'm a bit worried about bugs with 1 save file. modern gaming and all that. quest scripting bugs being the main issue for me. yes, new game plus will likely exist but quest bugging out and losing them for a playthrough would still suck.
HOWEVER! My past traumas with this Game seem to have returned:

Sigh. That character editor is just too awesome, so what can I do...
In this video it's mentioned that you can play as an elf. As far as I know though, you can't. Anyone has proof of either ? Also about the classes, Itsuno said there would only be those 10 at launch. Maybe more will come later.

i'm actually wondering if the dragon's plague could be turned in to a grief bomb, like if your pawn gets to a high level of infection and other people hire your pawn it could have a devastating effect that could really screw other people over
Im curious if ur pawn could turn INTO a dragon...with that plague and the "calamity" sorta warning...
I'm still surprised more games haven't copied the pawn system, it's such an awesome feature.

All we need to know and agree on is that Wolves hunt in Packs!
How many hours was DD1? I have a feeling im going to spend 100+ on this game!
I'm unreasonably excited for this. I absolutely loved the first Dragon's Dogma. HYPEEE

Most important question is should we be playing the first one before we play DD2?
It's like if black desert online were a passion project.
Denuvo is a deal-breaker for me.
When you hire pawns they can lead you to quests or loot, but if your pawn is hired when you play will they know information about the game from the other players that used your main pawn? Does your main pawn learn if used by another player?
Can't wait to play this. Going to have to wait until a few weeks after release though.
