Thanks. I echo the comment before about showing the magic loop. Every other video I’ve watched has had no problem connecting using 16” circular - MY stitches certainly didn’t stretch that far, and I was actually casting on slightly more stitches due to a gauge issue!
I am glad i was able to demonstrate in a way that mirrored your own experience. I wonder if other people are using much thicker yarn or they have 16" needles with shorter tips?
Thanks so much. I can definitely do that. There are some steps in there that are a bit fiddly so i will do some more videos on the tricky bits along the way. :)
OH MAN! I wish I had watched this video first before I finished my cast on rows and first round of ribbing. The tutorial I did watch, she kept saying, “Don’t worry if you have a large gap, just keep going!” Well, I have a gap of about 3/4”. I thought she would have a tip or trick to resolve the problem, but she never addresses it again. In the comments when someone asks about it she says maybe it can be made to look better with some “Creative sewing,” when they are finished. If ONLY I had thought to knit my stitches onto a magic loop like you did before joining. What a waste of time. Oh, well. At least now I know what to do.
Hopefully you will make another Ranunculus and use it then. I am not sure why she suggests creative sewing to fix a problem that could be avoided in the first place.... Anyway - next time or for the next sweater. You can definitely fix it at the end so i wouldnt be worried about this version. But nice to know for next time. :)
Hi Tash. Just wondering if you are going to demonstrate the whole ranunculus make. I have started this design about 4 times and have so much trouble with it. Thanks for your great demos and I enjoy seeing what you’re knitting etc on recent videos.
I hadnt planned to but I think that is a great idea. I have gone past the swoops already on this one but I am going to make another version out of my Berroco Remix so i will use that one to do the short rows and the rest of the tricky stages. That yarn may be better for videos anyway - I will only be holding one strand so it will be easier to see what i am doing. Thanks for your nice comments on my videos. I am so glad you are enjoying them.
Thanks so much. I will definitely try. I have a new microphone so hopefully that is helping with the future podcasts and I will try and speak louder in general. xx
What is it about the crocheted provisional cast on? Sometimes they pull out easily and other times they don’t. I still haven’t worked out why but it’s frustrating.
To pull out easily, the first row needs to be completely a knit row - no purling, no YO's. You also need to start pulling out at the end of the chain so i always add a few extra chains and drop them off so i know which end to start from. But if the first row is not a plain knit, it won't pull out easily.
Ugh. Tash 😩 I’m so frustrated! I have tried to join this in the round using every method I know and I still have a massive gap between the needles. How did you do it?
I’m so sorry to hear that. I do hold the yarn very close to the needle. I wonder if that makes the difference. I have a video on magic looping and it has a tip on that so that video might help?
Hi Brittany. You start with 30 sts and do K1, YO around. It is possible to miss the last YO and not end up with 60 but rather 59. Could that be where you are missing the extra stitch?
Yes that’s where I missing it. I’m using magic loop and it’s extremely difficult to keep the loop because I’m separating the stitches onto both needles then pulling the back needle out to knit off the front needles. Do you have any tips for using magic loop right when you need to join in the round? I’m having trouble following because I started my project with magic loop instead of how yours was when you added in longer needle/ cord for magic loop at the join. I hope I’m making sense
Hi Brittany Sorry, i just saw this message. I think the important thing is realising that you are meant to have a stitch here. And if you have lost the yarn over, to recreate it just by putting the yarn back over the needle and knitting it. I think i will do a video on magic loop from the beginning as it is definitely harder than just starting to magic loop later on when there is already work on the needles.
Thanks oodles for this tutorial Tash. I’ve just started and found it so helpful. Your explanations are wonderfully clear. 😊
Thanks so much Susie. I am so glad you have found the tutorials helpful. :)

Hi Tash. Thank you for this video on the tubular cast-on for the Ranunculus sweater👍🏽 Any chance you can do a how-to series on the whole ranunculus?
Thanks so much. I can definitely do that. There are some steps in there that are a bit fiddly so i will do some more videos on the tricky bits along the way. :)
Thanks for your kindness & inspiration ❤
You are so welcome. Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment. :)

Tash thank you for the tutorial so nice that you share your experitise.
Thank you Rosemary. I really enjoy teaching and it is lovely to be able to share what i have learned. :)
Thank you Tash👌🏽God Bless
Lovely🌹voice, but kindly make your volume a little louder, please. Subscribed❤️❤️❤️

So you slip all stitches purl wise ????
Yes - you do not want to change the orientation of the stitches. So all stitches are slipped purlwise. :)
Just curious how you got the extra loop to equal 60 stitches? Every time I do it I keep getting 59. Am I the only one?
