I like it when they make fun watches, you can't be serious 100% of the time and these would be an awesome wear out on a fun night. Plus they may get non-watch people into the hobby so they're all good in my book.
That`s a great business approach when decently executed. Fortunately, Seiko hit the nail in one stroke. But I can see other brands trying this and shooting themselves in the foot very easily.

Everything about this review was amazing!! I’d seen these online and freaked out myself, but when you revealed the details on the reverse of the straps I let out an audible “NO WAYYYY!”. Lighting, script, production, edit and story all on point. Chun-Lelle, I bow in respect ✊🏼
I bought the entire Naruto collection (7 watches), Blanka and Ryu, and I am not even an anime fan 😂. These watches are so vibrant and the details are amazing. Kudos Seiko on the designs and execution. These are definitely fun watches for adults. Watch collecting doesn’t have to be serious.

The Seiko 1965 Divers recreation is another example... Limited to 300 pieces and only sold in Japan?! If Seiko had any sense they'd sell thousands of these
It will cost them a lot to remake the old quartz movement but not enough demand to cover. The Alien watch is an example. It's not the same movement. It's a shame.
Finally, watches I can afford on your channe!!! I thought Seiko was going to put full characters on these watches. I'm glad they're more sedated! You went full out on the 'BLUE' theme, didn't you? The watches were done very well and the texture on the white dial is beautiful. The blue watch is more my style with the Roman numerals and decorations. It looks huge on your wrist but it truly works! I hope you enjoy your watch for many years to come. Thanks for the video, Gayle or Gell. That's what my friends called me in Germany.

I think these watches are good for horology. These are "gateway" watches. Appealing to non-watch lovers. Anything to bring more mechanical watch people into the hobby is a good thing. Just like the Brian May and Roberto Clemente "limited" editions some may sneer at large volume runs. But again these are for the non-watch crowd. Anything to slow the tide of the smartwatch flood.
Smart watches are sometimes also gateway watches :) I don’t think a lot of non watch lovers are going to pay $500 for a watch but that’s just my opinion
Limited edition is inviting knowing it's numbered. If you had a full set with all matching numbers... That combination would be interesting to me. I think these are great. I wear a Rolex most of the time but would happily wear these. I think they are cool. If you look at the other brands, Ball and so many others who use the limited run, it's a successful marketing tool for them to sell watches. Who knows maybe they will become worth more if someone collects the full set in 29 years or something... I don't think watches will ever disappear but they certainly will dwindle into a different class. I think they will become more of an accessory of luxury than necessity for functionality. Those people will wear apple watch etc...
When I first heard about this I rolled my eyes. However when I looked them over I have to admit that Seiko kinda knocked it out of the park. I don't think that any other watch company could pull it off. It is a fun yet subtle take on two Asian theme cultural icons. My hope is that the quality will stand out and that all parties take the artistic endeavor serious or I believe it will fall flat. What fan wouldn't want to collect the whole series?
This is the video I wanted. I'm going to get the Ryu one but I kind of like all of them. I also was a huge street fighter fan. I spent so much money in the arcade, yes I'm old enough to have been in the era of arcades lol. Obviously some of them are a little toyish but whatever they all give me happy vibes and reminds me of my childhood. Love your videos keep up the great work!
Just seeing your face light up when you are about to review the Chun Li watch is worth the viewing of this video XD You did change my mind of the Chun Li edition, I wasn't sold on its design at first, but the review on the details made me appreciate it more. I love the Ryu watch, and I dig how simplistic it's design is, along with the texture of the dial and the strap. If the world wasn't in shambles right now and things were better on my end, I'd buy it asap.

I'm impressed with all the small details about each character that they included on the watch for the real fans of the video game. I think my favorites are the symbols on the case back of the characters signature move. Very cool touches that will make it special for the real fans of the video game. Love the hair and outfit BTW you really made it fun.
Great review and I loved the backstory about your interest in these themed watches! Some of my favorite childhood memories are of playing video games with my brother. We live on opposite sides of the country now, and playing games online together lets us stay in touch and share a favorite hobby even though we can't be shoulder to shoulder on the same couch anymore. This watch would make a great gift for him. 😊

Now about the watches themselves, I recognize I had gone over them but, after wacthed your video I apreciate the detail, the love put in them and how well thought everything is put. I am not a fan of Street fighter games, but both watches looks super, super nice and a great addion to a watch collection, when you want some fun with quality on it. Wonderful video! The macro shots really make these fun watches pop. I also have the Chun Li watch, she is my favorite character. When I was a kid, I always picked her to piss off my friends. They tried all their tricks, but I just spammed lightning kicks and kicked their butts XD. I agree that the band is stiff - other than that, I’ve found the watch surprisingly useful. I use the numbered bezel as a sort of GMT/Dual Time/timer indicator - and in day to day use, the blue isn’t as flashy and has a denim appearance. I’ve gotten quite a lot of compliments, and friends and colleagues who I didn’t know were gamers/watch fans, immediately spotted it. And as an added bonus, the 4R36 has been keeping amazing time: +2/d!! Puts my 6R Seikos to shame and even rivals my Omega Planet Ocean 8500. Enjoy yours, I’m very happy with mine!!

Hi Jenni, as you said in the video, the new watch straps are very stiff and uncomfortable. You can solve this problem by bending the straps a few times or as many times as you like, until the straps turn into rounder shape that fits your wrist. This is what I do when I got a new straps. Hope you can enjoy your new Chun Li watch. Thanks a lot for all the great videos you made.
Spyro the dragon was one of my favourite games along side pokemon (Red then onto Silver). I believe spyro was also the first game I ever completed :) The memories.....
I have two working seikos. A coutura and a solar chronograph. I had this older one given to me by a friend but it’s battery was dead and the rubber strap and plastic parts were in horrible shape. I replaced the strap with an emerald colored nato band, and I cleaned up the metal and just removed the plastic entirely since it looked bad. I’m ordering a new battery soon so hopefully the battery case isn’t too crusty to get it open.

You definitely have to be a fan of the game or a huge seiko fan to appreciate these watches. Don’t hit the mark for me on either but definitely excited what doors this could open up. Haha I sent this to my brother as soon as it was out too. We're both trying our hardest not to buy them. Saving for something more. Also would be the Ryu or the Blanka which I'd want, but I'd be too afraid to get the Ryu white strap dirty or scratch the bezels, so would never wear it. Great wee little nod to Chun Li, so fitting for this video without being too in your face. I'd love to see Cloud Strife and Squall Lionheart inspired collaboration with Seiko.

One of your coolest videos, Jenni. Edited to add that the Ryu watch does a great job of capturing the theme, particularly with regards to the material of his keogi ("gi"). All my karatedo "gi" were from a company called Shureido and the fabric was very similar - up close - to the effect on the dial.

Appreciate the detailed view and background information you provided for the watches. Nice cosplay tribute too, haha maybe you can pull off a spining bird kick since you are rocking the look and pairing it with the proper watch too. 😁 There are some who say that this collaboration watches look a bit kiddy but I personally disagree. First of all I am biased because Street Fighter 2 was the first video game I played as a kid with my older cousin and through the years I have also played the newer iterations. Next is the design, which I think were thought out well to reflect each of the six characters. Being a hardcore fan, I bought all six pieces and have no regrets at all. The popular models I see being grabbed are Ken, Guile and Ryu. As for the Chun Li, they say it's a bit geared towards women but I think men can pull it off too. The Blanka and Zangief don't seem to be too popular among buyers but for me those two are the ones that really stand out. The two watches screams special (for normal people) or "HADOUKEN" (to SF fans) even when viewed from a couple of meters away. Speaking of collaboration, do you know Seiko already has an upcoming Naruto Anime Seiko 5 sports set also? I know some will dismiss it again as for kids, but believe me, you will like the design when you see it. I am trying hard to avoid spending money after just getting the entire Street Fighter V set, but here goes another tempting set from Seiko. Now I am a bit scared thinking what other surprise Seiko will come up with after the Naruto, as I got a feeling it will be well executed too whatever collaboration it is. 😬
Seiko did a very clever move with this Street Fighter watches. Nothing new from a technical point of view, but they will sell anyway! And now I am thinking if I want one... 😉 but it is quite hard to choose.
I think this is a great idea by Seiko. I have never played these games or know who the characters are, so feel a bit of an outsider compared to some of the posts here. However, this could be a master stroke by Seiko and for the watch industry at large. It might encourage those people who buy these to go on and buy another mechanical watch, so bringing much needed young blood to the hobby.
I really like this video. Jenni, you really made this interesting! Thank you! Seiko has been doing a ton of stuff to get people interested in watches. In this case, Seiko is bringing some fun back into the watch scene. I saw some of these Seiko 5s in the store and I did not know what they were about, but now I know. Thanks to Jenni.

You definitely have to be a fan of the game or a huge seiko fan to appreciate these watches. Don’t hit the mark for me on either but definitely excited what doors this could open up. Would love a Pokémon seiko collaboration. Imagine yellow dial with brown bezel for pikachu or something along those lines. Anyways awesome seeing your nerdy side Jenni!

Haha I sent this to my brother as soon as it was out too. We're both trying our hardest not to buy them. Saving for something more. Also would be the Ryu or the Blanka which I'd want, but I'd be too afraid to get the Ryu white strap dirty or scratch the bezels, so would never wear it.

One of your coolest videos, Jenni. Edited to add that the Ryu watch does a great job of capturing the theme, particularly with regards to the material of his keogi ("gi"). All my karatedo "gi" were from a company called Shureido and the fabric was very similar - up close - to the effect on the dial.

There are some who say that this collaboration watches look a bit kiddy but I personally disagree. First of all I am biased because Street Fighter 2 was the first video game I played as a kid with my older cousin and through the years I have also played the newer iterations. Next is the design, which I think were thought out well to reflect each of the six characters. Being a hardcore fan, I bought all six pieces and have no regrets at all. The popular models I see being grabbed are Ken, Guile and Ryu. As for the Chun Li, they say it's a bit geared towards women but I think men can pull it off too. The Blanka and Zangief don't seem to be too popular among buyers but for me those two are the ones that really stand out. The two watches screams special (for normal people) or "HADOUKEN" (to SF fans) even when viewed from a couple of meters away.
Speaking of collaboration, do you know Seiko already has an upcoming Naruto Anime Seiko 5 sports set also? I know some will dismiss it again as for kids, but believe me, you will like the design when you see it. I am trying hard to avoid spending money after just getting the entire Street Fighter V set, but here goes another tempting set from Seiko. Now I am a bit scared thinking what other surprise Seiko will come up with after the Naruto, as I got a feeling it will be well executed too whatever collaboration it is. 😬

Seiko did a very clever move with this Street Fighter watches. Nothing new from a technical point of view, but they will sell anyway! And now I am thinking if I want one... 😉 but it is quite hard to choose.

I think this is a great idea by Seiko. I have never played these games or know who the characters are, so feel a bit of an outsider compared to some of the posts here. However, this could be a master stroke by Seiko and for the watch industry at large. It might encourage those people who buy these to go on and buy another mechanical watch, so bringing much needed young blood to the hobby.
I really like this video. Jenni, you really made this interesting! Thank you! Seiko has been doing a ton of stuff to get people interested in watches. In this case, Seiko is bringing some fun back into the watch scene. I saw some of these Seiko 5s in the store and I did not know what they were about, but now I know. Thanks to Jenni.
