The whooping and cheering is a thing in reining, since everyone is commenting on it. Sometimes coaches/friends will whoop like that when the rider has done the right amount of spins so they know when to stop lol.
When I'm showing,I LOVE hearing people cheer. It makes me feel like they like what they see and that I'm doing well. It's easier to understand when you're actually in the show pen.
For those of you complaining about the yelling you obviously haven't been to big reining or cow horse shows, that was quite tame. The head carriage was a bit low but to each their own, I would of liked to see the horse a bit more forward in his ear but other than that it was a gorgeous run!!
In case you still don't know, often this is used as a technique for the rider's instructor to communicate to them during the competition. My trainer whistles when I messed up and does a little "woohoo!" when I execute something correctly, and catcalls when I need to do a lead change (I forget those easily lmao).
Amazing circles amazing change leads and beautiful spins I've never seen better lead changes and spins in my life!!! Lil joe pays so much attention to his rider!!! AMAZING SLIDES!!!!! How could you ever ask for more better slides just everything about that run is amazing
I am just going to say this: A horses head is naturally in a "graze position" or lowered. Horses naturally stop quickly not using the shoulders but the hips. The rider could have stopped without pulling but this allowed a better stop. Some horses need a little pull. Reining allows the horses to slow down and speed up. Jumping a horse depends on the breed and history. Some horses are built for certain things. Western horsemanship only does things the horses do naturally. This horse can stop naturally and change leads.....ect, naturally. The split reins allow the horse to turn and extend the head. Roping and barrel reins are full reins to have max. control. Now please quit complaining! The horse is not in pain. Do AQH horses naturally jump? Depends on the horses geneology. I do lots of research and even some observing of horses. Yes I am 12.
You go girl! It makes me so happy to see some more young people being so well versed, especially when it comes to equine issues. I wish more young riders like you would be so committed to research and theory. Go get 'em!
Just saw this. You non-reiners need to educate yourselves. This was an awesome run on a completely loose rein. And remember, this is a four-year old horse. Much more to come from this awesome team.
the head set is also there to show how broke your horse is, all horses have a different one based on their conformation. I have a Western Pleasure mare who carries her head right below the top line or some times even lower, that's just the way she is. I have an older Quarter Horse mare who likes to peanut roll at the walk; she literally puts her head all the way to the ground. I never ask her to do this, but the way her conformation is, she likes to stretch her neck after exercise.
The saddle isn't ill fitted. We don't use back cinches during competition therefore causing the illusion of a poorly fitting saddle when the horse makes certain maneuvers.
They don't come much cuter than Lil Joe Cash. It's interesting to watch this run after watching his Futurity run and see the improvement in the turnarounds.
I hope people know that in reining, headset doesn't matter and that its natural to the horse. I'm really sick of people not doing their homework before they comment.
I never have competed in a show, but I use to ride a horse that was a show horse and knew the spin move and the instructure showed me how to make her do it and it was really fun! I only did it on her once or twice tho.
Daaaang... That was gorgeous. From an English standpoint, there is just something about this that English, with all its elegance and class, cannot match.
It's true that headset doesn't matter to judges but it is definitely trained into the horse & could be trained out if you wanted. It's a personal choice for the owner/rider how the horse carries it's head. Anyone who thinks it's a natural carriage has never watched wild horses.
you are so right about the noise.. they do it at cuttings as well.. not random, usually someone in the arena that is doing it on purpose.. if they threatened to deduct points for it, they would stop it!
i don't know much about western at all,so i was wondering, why are the reins not tied and why don't they wear helmets? didn't say anything about not wearing helmets online so i was just wanting to know, we have to wear helmets in show jumping
Wow! I am not a western rider but that last movement was spectacular. Just the sort of training you would want if you were a cowboy on the trail and a tree fell unexpectedly on your path...
People who say this are the sport against the natural behavior of the horse. Are precisely the people whose horses have to jump over a meter sixty. And it is these people whose horses have to undergo a short LDR, so the rider can and cleared his horse. It is these people who have never heard of Natural Horse Man chip and those who have never heard of a cowsens
i don't like any riding, especially if its for competition. this is incredibly hard on a horse. fake cowboy bs. The whole "rough and tough" cowboy attitude prominent in wester riding is really hard on horses.
i worked in dog sled racing at the winning level and i am now super against animal competitions of all kinds. reining has the highest wastage rates second only to racing. this is a cruel sport and very hard on the horses body and mind. if they took away the run and stop, it would be way harder to point out why this sport is cruel, but they don't give af, they know its hard on their joints and want to do it anyway. even without that part the repetitive training and bits with long shanks is hard on them. these people don't want horses, they want robots.
@@doggodoggo3000 Ik dog sled racing can be gnarly. My friend's mom worked at a racing kennel and they kept dogs intact with the purpose of being able to whip their balls.... these people definitely prefer having robots over real horses, that's for sure. What a beautiful horse, very well trained I realize the reason the women shouting but it is none the less still annoying, also I would think that shouting would scare the horse no?
Dear *GOD* why can't these people be *QUIET.* Just let horse and rider do their thing, and shut the heck up. They have all the time at the end to cheer for them. Usually, in equestrian disciplines such as these, as well as english riding competitions, they want the crowd to be quiet because both the rider and the horse need to concentrate.
Arrogance, arrogance. You should try working with WP horses sometime. My filly is naturally level-headed. Like I said before, do your homework before you comment.
I hate this new head position that the big trainers are trying to get from the horse, so un-natural. Many are using Botox to paralyze the neck muscles to keep the head low, very sad in my book! Sure wish AQHA would do something, but they will not!
the riding is excellent and then you have the woman who's all like WAO AOW AOOWOAOOWOOWAOOWAOAWOWOWAOAWO
Paige Morton ikr it was like the same person the whole time
Ikrrrr
You guys obviously haven’t been to a big reigning or cow horse show because that was quite mild
I was thinking that same thing lol
Omg I fucking lost it like had to bend over from laughing so hard cause I read this comment before watching then she started doing it lmao

Amazing
Question to the reiners here: Why all the whistling?
I paused this video several times to gawk at the saddle fit.
What a beautiful ending he had
little Joe Cash was good at reining and was a good looking Quarter Horse .
whistling in reining is a complement hahaha
I'm just trying to figure out if he's wearing an AP Rose Gold & Ceramic ROO, which is cooler than any buckle.
Can anyone tell me why he is using so much hand?? I do know a little bit about Reining and have never seen anyone use so much hand...

Lol 😆
snazzy saddle pad.. where can i get one?!!
I don’t understand? This is controversial yes, but it’s a championship. It’s a show. People are going to cheer??
which pattern is that?
This is not Abuse at all! The horse doesn't seem to be showing Pain at all, I also Don't see no Rollkur
western riding is so different
I’m no western rider BUT neat stuff I show jump
yk I tell you western riding is where its at!!
no. the only riding that doesnt suck is natural horsemanship. English and western both suck.
ok but those spins where fire
score?
I like western riding 😁
i don't like any riding, especially if its for competition. this is incredibly hard on a horse. fake cowboy bs. The whole "rough and tough" cowboy attitude prominent in wester riding is really hard on horses.
Why is there a screaming goat in the crowd?
This horse is on Yellowstone the show
3:32 is when he does a rollback
The one girl who keeps screaming is going to make me kms
i feel like the woman going woaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaaow can’t whistle and she’s trying to make up for it
He looked like he was getting ready to Buck in the lope kinda but amazingly trained
those skid boots over polo wraps look like jesus sandals over socks!
why do horses spin
WoOoOoO wOoOoOo
What's the point of reining?
Toxic masculinity, and, bEiN a CoWgIrL/CoWbOy
The human siren
HEEOWOOOOOWWWWWOOOOWWHEOOOOOOWWW
I don’t get it, what the heck am I looking at?
Whoporschedatis do you get reining?
Basically a western version of dressage that’s a lot more interesting
Can someone explain why they have the horse trudge around on their forehand?
The lady sounds like a sped up luigi
Nice horse but when you brake a horse he's head shouldn't be so low like that beutifull horse though
Nobody is going to mention that he should've been disqualified because the tail is clearly drugged/numbed?

It does hurt the horse, I had an ex Reiner who had to be put down because of reining
