Me now at 72.. remembering when this song was popular.. now I am the old woman looking in the mirror - sobering
❤ only 35 here and I can't explain why I agree and with you completely. This song is truth beyond truth for us humans. If you perceive mortality I think this song will resonate with you . One of my favorites.
Never count the years young lady- just enjoy your time doing whatever you like to do - inspiring tune and lyrics ❤
Raise a glass 🥃 we are not dying YOUNG !!
I'm 72 too!
I was born in Scotland in 1965. We left for Australia June 1970. I remember turning the radio on in Scotland and this song was playing and I instantly fell in love with it and have listened to it off on on ever since - I have also heard the Russian verion.
I woke up with this song in my head, 70 years old this year, and yes those were the days. Still making memories, i still believe in the rightness of it all, i still believe dream's can come true. Live the life you have, its the only life you get!
So do i. Still missing the days.
It's 4 in the morning. In 1969 I was 22. Now at 76, I wake up and recall those good ol days. My mind is still 35, and my body is old. Melancholy takes over because memory allows us to smell roses in winter.
Thank you, mmLinda for sharing your nice memories. God bless.
wow.. never looked at it like that before.. but that is soooo true. i guess i am glad i made so many memories.. because if we hadn't what would we have in the winter of our years.. best wishes linda
My memories are still available. I think I'm younger than my joints allow. I believe I'm stronger than my grip grabs. I know I'm smarter than I look. Aging humbles us all. No egos allowed. No degree will save you from the effects of what we've all put into our bodies over the years in the ignorance and trust of self preservation or amusement and relaxation. Almost all of us succumb to the harsh reality of time. Why don't we live as long as trees? Because we trusted society to be fair, honest, and reliable. Hope sustains us all now. Hope in our Savior's Son, Jesus.
Great singer, great song. This is the song I want played at my wake
A cautionary tale for the young and old. Interesting to listen to this at 72, remembering how it felt in 1968 listing to the song and wondering but not believing those days would "never" end.
Days that were have come and gone
Some were swell It's today we are on
Some were bad on them don't dwell
Be glad it's a new day that has dawn
Don't frown it's today put a Smile on 🤠

I was six years old, just out of the hospital, having survived spinal meningitis, when this song was on the radio, tooling around with my dad in his Buick Wildcat convertible--loads of GREAT memories. Now, at 61, I look back and wonder how so many years could have slipped by me so quickly.
At 67, I happily remember going into the Bar I worked as a bartender and l would play this Wonderful song on the jukebox. Everyone would join in singing, clapping their hsnds ♥️♥️🎼🎼. Those wete the days !!🙏🏿🎵💜☮️
Now I'm in my mid-60's, this makes me weep. :(
Thanks for listening, Sir.
I'm staring down the barrel of 60, and it makes me weep too. I tell myself it's her beautiful voice, not the strange reflection in the tavern glass.
Oh no… try not to think that way… Don’t be sad because it’s over… Be so happy and grateful that it happened in your life. I hope you have a beautiful day.
Can't explain just why but today I got an urge to know who had written this song, thinking perhaps one of the Beatles or someone like that. So I Googled it and what I learned surprised me. This song is in fact an English tramslation of a Russian folk song ( which maybe explains why it has such a nostalgic air about it. ) Music is by Boris Famin and lyrics by Eugene Raskin. And not a lot of people know that ! 🙂
"folk song" -- it is the one without known authors.
Thank you so much for sharing to us what you had researched and also thank you for visiting my channel. Happy Holidays.
Ironically when I heard this song again a few weeks ago I thought it sounded as though it had a Russian influence. Had never thought that when it first came out 🏴
@@user-jm3xl7rg5k no it’s not a folk song…it’s called ( along with) the long roads
And the original lyrics are much nicer
@@blodwen6946,,Russian influence “ …..😮
Doesn't matter what year or days. This song has significance anytime. I lost a very good friend. We went dancing together. I had fun with her. We laughed together and danced the night away like it would never end. I will always miss her.....😢
Those were the days - me at 74 - we're older but no wiser, for in our hearts the dreams are still the same 😊. Love the song ❤
I woke up this morning singing “those were the days my friends we thought they’d never end”
which landed me at this video to find out who the artist was ❤
I'm 48 yrs I'm old ,while I'm listening im crying, feel sad 😢
I shared this song with my ex form 4 and form 5 classmates of 1976-1977. Now we are in early 60's. Those were the days..😢😢
U ARE 10 YEARS YOUNGER & LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ALIVE IN THOSE GOLDEN YEARS.........TREASURE THEM DAYS INTO YR HEART & MIND.........THOSE DAYS WILL NEVER APPEAR AGAIN.......THAT I AM SURE OF😣😣😣😭😭😭
@@gibraltarchan9750 ..you are absolutely correct. How I wish I can go back to those days . Memories that will never be lost in memory.😔😔
Bakit may emoji na luhaan tagal na ah those were the days dapat move on na tayo.....hehe...
This brings me back to the good old times of Christmas Day 1969 in Equatorial Guinea. I was dressed up as Santa Claus and we were giving Christmas presents in the Stadium to 150 political prisoners it was wholesome seeing them smile and cry. Boy those were the days.
Those were the days , when I was still a kid and would dream about my future.
Today, at 57 I still have dreams about my future
This song is more relevant now then ever before as parents, uncles and grandparents have aged and passed . We never think it will one day end. Treasure your family while you have them one day you won’t.
Yes... you're right, mmCaroline. And thank you for your nice comment and for visiting my channel as well.
So true.
My mom died 9 months ago. 🥺💔

2:25 This song holds a special place in my heart. It was played at my wedding in 1974 and my husband and I danced to it and brought down the house with applause from the wedding guests. I will always remember that day as one of 3:56 2:39 my happiest.
Now we are all seniors in age but we feel young whenever we played this “Those Were The Days”

Those were the days...

¡Guau! Que lindo recuerdo para recordar. Cómo espero que vuelvas a ver a tu novia y refresques esos buenos viejos tiempos que tuviste hace mucho tiempo. Gracias por tu muy linda historia.

Oh, yes, those were the days.
Its traguc this song was used in the stadium massacre of Equitorial Guinea, rip to all the victims
This song reminds me of the documentaries of Victorian England and the Jack the Ripper murders of 1888.A very haunting song.
