Thankful Tree - Dreaming Awake at the End of Time [USA] Y2K, Indie, Folk, Lofi, Demo (2009)

Dear Diary,
The lyrics for this song were extracted from a poem i wrote for my parents in high school.
Because i’m a little sneak, i snuck into a box of love letters my Dad wrote my Mom while he was away at boot camp, during the war in Vietnam. i transcribed each of them by hand, which was my way of melding with things outside of my own experience, and these words came out. i’ve kept that to myself til just now.
In a future version, the lovely coda/refrain, written by my friend, Wesley Powell, changed to “FIND yourself somebody,” which i feel softened the sentiment nicely. the last line goes on to add, “Make them happy, it’ll make you happy.”
i recorded this particular take on a little point-and-shoot casio camera, with a video/audio function, in Champaign-Urbana, while waiting for my sweetheart to return from class; but that’s a story for a different time;)
