On the Dan Campbell going for it on 4th league wide talk I’m glad it’s happening more. In the same way in the NBA teams were not shooting enough 3s as they should have been for the advantage it can give you nfl coaches where not going for it on 4th down as much as they should’ve been with the advantage it can give you. NFL coaching getting outta that conservative scary mindset next big innovation is gonna be teams incorporating laterals more. That’s another aspect of the game extremely underutilized rn.
I agree that it's going to happen more and the lateral point you brought up is great too. However I think all that is a regular season kind of experiment because in a serious playoff game I doubt coaches would be that courageous. One could argue the Lions could have went to the Super Bowl if it wasn't for Campbell going for it so much on those 4th down situations
@@NickiDusse I agree with that when the pressure on football coaching still defaults to what could go wrong and let that guide them. All it takes is one team to win one or two championships being really aggressive and execute on 4th at a high level in the playoffs and the meta will change league wide.
