I always thought it was gonna be Dean. He was the most believable as a heel from his previous work and at the time plus he had a “insecurity” type of storyline going for himself so it made sense
It should have been Dean. Sometimes the obvious choice is the right one. It fit his character, and he was never meant to be part of The Shield in the first place, he was a last minute addition, and he was originally going to be a solo heel.
The shield will always be one of the best faction of wrestling, The shield breaking up was really a game changer cause they go on there and Had become big stars.
I was actually there that night. First time ever going to a wrestling event and I got to witness a betrayal of one of my favorite groups. It was shocking but I was so glad to be apart of the environment. We may have had the cheap seats but I still loved it.
@@ChrisJZedStormzone-fz8od Nope, but that would've been awesome if I was lol. If anything my reaction was more of a quiet "Oh crap..." followed by a long silence with the rest of the crowd.
Damn, The Shield debuted in MY city of Indianapolis AND died too?? I had no idea. That's awesome. I wonder why they did that. Glad they did tho now that it's so remembered.
I feel like looking back at it Seth Rollins doing the betrayal makes the most sense for shock value. He was the one who was the most athletic, probably most over plus he's the architect of the Sheild. Dean or Roman would've been too predictable considering they teased storyline beef between the 2. Plus Rollins has improved ever since with today arguably doing the best work of his career. Rollins turning on the Sheild was great mainly due to how he's the last one people would expect to turn on the Sheild
When I saw Roman and Dean step up, for a split second, I was like, "yo, something's not right". And then me and the dude in the audience was screaming "NOOOOOO" when Seth swung the chair. I HATED Seth for a long time after that 🤣And to add to the misery, I had ordered a Shield t-shirt and it had the nerve to arrive the day after Raw. That shirt sat in my closet until the Shield Last Ride ppv in 2018 (I think that's when that happened).
Bro, I was totally shocked when Seth turn on the shield that night, it took me completely of guard. That whole week I was so confused, I thought I was seeing things, the shield was my favorite group ever and seeing that happen, turn my world upside down!!
Ross has a point about the rarity of a group in WWE creating multiple world champions. Before the Shield I think the last group to create this type of success was ironically Evolution. Batista, Randy, and Triple h all became established stars. The only reason I don't include Flair because he was already an established star 30 or so years before half of Evolution was even born.
A night I’ll never forget. Just got home from school, and I had action figures of both the Shield and Evolution, so I did a rematch with them, and added my own twists to their match. I shit you not, I wound up having Roman turn on Seth and Dean, single-handedly destroying them once the match was over. Literally hours later, while watching the show, Seth ended up being the deceptive one. I was SHOOK, lol.
Such a sad day for me, just got home from school and had to witness that🤦🏽♂️🙄never forget that day, And it’s the shields 10 year anniversary coming up so that’s cool🍻🔥
I remember being 14 teen when that happened live on tv all the lights were off in my room the only light that was on was the tv in I remember just being shocked like that’s when I had wwe 2k14 in I all ways played as the shield take me back 😭
The choice to break them up at their peak was absolutely genius. It’s doubtful whether they’d get more popular then they were and if that’s the case, they would only go downhill from there. There was a shockwave that was felt throughout WWE with their top act imploding in spectacular dramatic fashion. And everyone was completely stunned. The Shield ended on top and WWE got 3 top stars in the making in one night. And the best part of them splitting while on top is that fans never saw them lose steam or got sick of them.
Keeping it 100 with you Ross I actually could be one of FEW or MANY who knows that when Seth Rollins turned his back on the shield that night I thought it was SO DAMN brilliant I enjoyed every bit of it. After he does his dirty work leaves the ring , give Randy Orton the steel chair and Randy went in on Roman 👏🏾💯 I thought it was so damn good 👌🏾
The Shield was the reason i started back watching WWE again and then the Daniel Bryant storyline vs Orton had me buying Wwe network Tbh it was a breathtaking seeing Seth turning heel for the fact i actually figure it would be Dean!!
This not only is The Night The Shield Died but it’s also The Night The Authority Born (and they are Good Heel, they like to take every good thing that The Fans want to see on them into The Trash and even if it did happened like Cena finally get The Authority out, that Little Weasel Seth Rollings find away to bring them back)
This is how I describe where each of the Shield members are at now they've become such big stars that now they don’t need a shield reunion because they’ve become bigger without it
I was 12 when this happened, the biggest shield fan ever, Roman regnes beanie, Seth Rollins tshirt, and also dean ambrose merch, ready to watch that raw, I was devastated
I think we all knew it eventually was gonna have to come to an end but I'll be honest with you Dean was who I always thought was gonna be who turned not Seth. But I think that's what made it even better. And man could you imagine if Vince would've gotten his head outta his ass back then and had Roman turn heel and turn on the shield instead of us being force fed his baby face bullshit for years? *Just got to the point of the video where be literally said almost word for word what I said. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was gonna be anyone but Seth to do it.
Yk this turn was the reason i stadted likeing heels for what they where like it was great to change things but it was so unexpected Rollins is a legend fr tho😂
i mean i dont know why anybody thought it couldnt have been seth also, seth was freaking called the "architect" i loved how speed passed that nickname lol
I always thought it was going to be Ambrose or Reigns as they were getting tense with each other during the time when Punk tried to cause a rift between them, and I thought Rollins was going to be the one to try and be peacekeeper, but Nooooooooo
I remember that night too much one of the most shocking nights of my life so first of all 2014 I didn't even have internet until August 2014 or later before I even got internet so I didn't know batista was going to quit like that for me seeing how I was a batista fan was shocking by itself right when I thought the night couldn't get any worst for me the main event happened I honestly thought the match was going to be like a minute long or the bell was going to ring then everyone was going to get involved and it was going to be a no contest or something but once Seth turned on reigns and ambrose it was like the wrestling world crumbled for me I didn't know what the hell was going on I honestly didn't know if I was going to watch wrestling ever again I mean one of my favorites wrestler at the time quit then Seth ended the shield it was a bad night for me but obviously I'm still watching wrestling and I will never quit that night obviously happened for a reason now all 3 members of the shield is doing there best work right now it's incredible how things change
I remember a group of us knew that they were probably going to break up Evolution style, but of course we didn't know what night- and I know I thought it was gonna be Roman. When I heard the dude in the crowd go, "NOOOO," I was SO happy cuz I was PISSED they beat Evolution (which is a good thing cuz they put The Shield over). I was at my laptop screaming and clapping! One of the last greatest moments for me before I took my hiatus from wrestling.
Sadly I stop watching WWE before they broken up. I knew it would happen, every group in WWE ends like this. But I was hoping that the Shield would end with them getting separated because of WWE draft.
Watching it live I was like wtf why would u do this???? I FUCKIN HATED SETH ROLLINS SO DAMN MUCH!!! I SCREANED AT THE TV! DEFINITELY A TOP 5 SHOCKING MOMENT IN RAW HISTORY!!!!!
I was 10 years old I couldn’t believe my eyes and once I saw Seth grab a chair I’m like what if he hits Roman or dean but then I’m like I don’t think he will and when I saw Roman and dean walk up and Seth stay behind I’m like wtf u doing Seth and then I saw him raise the chair and I’m like Nooooooo and then I was in shock In silence for the whole segment and saying why
The NOOOOO from the guy in the crowd when he saw the impending doom was hilarious 😂
Bro Was so hurt
Funny thing is that was me and Seth my favorite now
The guy yelling no was perfect.
The shield breaking up and the Undertaker streak breaking around the same was just not a good year for me.🤣🤣🤣
LOL
The guy who screamed NOOOOOO actually made the eventual chair shot even better
I always thought it was gonna be Dean. He was the most believable as a heel from his previous work and at the time plus he had a “insecurity” type of storyline going for himself so it made sense
Seth though being the heel he was in 2014 probably is one of my favorite heel runs in the past 5 to 10 years
@@koroo2891 and even better now

WWE had been sowing the seeds about Dean turning heel. But no one saw Seth turning heel.
After all he was the one who made them turn face
