I'm so glad that this show is out on 4K, but this set really showcases the biggest flaws of the 4K era of home video (outside of collectors stuff) pricing and packaging effort. For about $55 you can buy the serviceable 1080p Blu ray of the show, or you can spend over 3x that to get a twice as good format. $190 (as it is now, idk if that's going to be regular price or a sale) is just too much for this. I feel like $130 is the most this set should be. It's just strange how 4K blu ray's at their core are collector's items, yet they still give us pretty basic releases for the format. At least they ported over what seems to be most (if not all) of the blu ray special features. Kinda surprised they did
I still have the original fold out dvd sets and will hang on to them till they fall apart. I thought about getting an upgraded set, but not sure. Do you know if it is cropped due to them changing it from 4:3 to widescreen? I wouldn't like it if you loose part of the top and bottom of the picture.
No; definitely not. They are only on the DVDs. Rumour had it they would be on this set (and if they had I'd probably have paid out) but I _believe_ the distributor decided the difference in image quality between the excellent looking 'theatrical' gradings and the poor extended sections would be badly received.
Don't get me wrong, I love Friends and will likely get this box set at some point, but they really dropped the ball with the packaging on this. I watched another unboxing of this set and the guy pulled out each disc and almost every disc had either scuffs and smudges or straight up finger prints, which is crazy from a QA standpoint. Your cases having bits and pieces falling off isn't surprising as they are probably those garbage Viva Elite cases. Overall I just wish more effort was put into the packaging and artwork for this release because this show deserves so much better than this.
Great unboxing !
From what I have heard the 2021 reunion special is NOT included in this release 😢
Yeah, thats a shame! That wouldve been so much better.

It would have been nice to see some artwork on the discs. Just plain colors is somewhat lazy on Warner's part. Nice review of the btw.
Agreed. Artwork would’ve been nice.

It doesnt seem like they cropped it at all but i might have to take another look.

I do wish this was more of a “definitive” set
The packaging is not top notch,if this was a cheaper set i could accept that, but at this price point it's disapointing.
@vanstraelend check out the UK set.
@@CinemaDeviant Ok,thanks!!
