According to Federal Railroad Administration statistics, 2,192 highway-rail grade crossing collisions occurred in 2023. There were 247 crossing fatalities and 766 crossing injuries in 2023 across the U.S. It's heartbreaking. I suppose I'm "preaching to the choir," here, though.
Illinois is certainly up to par with railroad crossings. Even remote roads not even paved have signals and gates while neighboring states like Wisconsin and Indiana still have lots of crossings without even signals and even on roads they may not be real major but aren't real minor either.
13:07 Why does the bell turn on when the gate is lowering? There is a crossing similar in Lockport, IL. I found it interesting. Only 2nd one I’ve seen.
Thank you so much for this amazing video the weather is so amazing and I want to go there in the summer if I can.
Love that time of year, and that part of the country!
4:19 that horn is amazing 😍
I think it was spooky 😨
That did not sound like a k5la. Kinda sounded like a Leslie rs3l
Love the videos and the content keep up the great work
Will definitely watch the next Railroad crossings of the Midwest video. Great video but I too have a train for my RUclips profile picture.
Been awhile since I've been watching these videos
The crossing at 4:30... There's a crossing like that near the prison in Leavittsburg, OH. All yield and crossbucks but no gates or signals.
Good stuff!
Great video! I subscribed!
I'm still obsessed lol

I love trains
Me too I watch trains when I was a little kid

I love trains and railroad crossings too. but in the Midwestern united states.
Was that sirens going off at the beginning of the video?

United Railfan I'm not sure why. I live in the San Francisco Bay area and many of the crossing around here are similar
There's one near Ware Illinois but except both bells turn on when the gates are lowering
0:32 my favourite horn

McKnight rd was closed after the wreck in 1999
Ok cool!
Are you going to do part 7?
How do you determine what crossings to add in these videos besides the fact that they are in the Midwest?
Sometimes it’s older equipment, the history or the area, or just the fact it’s the nearest crossing when train chasing.
dude, you filmed in bourbonnais? 11 people lost their lives their when John Stokes's truck and train 59 collided at McKnight road.
that first crossing was in pesotum il I saw luke bryan there about a month ago
A YIELD sign starting at 4:10?? You think it would be a STOP sign.
Wade Scott. True..since half of todays people dont know what YIELD means.
Fred Thompson that breaks my heart because it's true... and sad....
4:13 is very dangerous at least have lights or a warning for an approaching train.Same with 28:11.
The road is probably so quiet that it wouldn't be worth the effort installing lights.
Are these rails all owned by Norfolk Southern?
Which country has ice cream truck
