Really enjoyed this TAS, but I don't know what I'm more impressed by; the tas or by teenage me managing to complete such a bugger of a game. This game was amazing for its time; the game play, the graphics, the story, the cast of characters, my irrational hatred of the murrg. I tried giving it another go earlier this year but got stuck on Giles nightmare and gave up, kinda glad I did because the rest of the this game is bonkers.
Fantastic run, I had no idea the bean was so... gamebreaking, haha. The ending cutscene always makes me cross we never got a proper sequel, as well. Alundra was an *amazing* game, and it would've been lovely to see the Dreamwalker return in a future game. (I don't think the Alundra 2 we *did* get was a bad game, I've beaten it several times and enjoy it quite a bit... but it's not **Alundra** 😢)
@@cadit002 Thank you to you Cadit for this extraordinary speedrun 100 of this magnificent game. The casino and the roulette in particular were insane, you are the best sinceraly. 👍🏻👍🏻🙏
@@Soki495 Thanks a lot! I really enjoyed making it. Hopefully new strats will be discovered so that I have to redo the TAS! I want to get it to go below 5 hours. 😃
Sounds like the mid-timeline Ys games are up your alley then (Ys 4, 5, 6) Though Ys is basically a more gameplay-focused Zelda in the first place (with arguably better music)
@@notsyzagts7967 what's better for you? This is not a great game, yes. Very inconsistent. Landstalker is better. But the (Japanese) story is interesting and sometimes it's fascinating. Demons are as scary as it gets for 2d graphics, the best part of the game. All it needed was a decent music composer (Sakuraba or Takenouchi) and better background artists. But even this is much better than childish Zelda games.
This is such a delight watching someone speed run this epic game. Can I ask what was that segment do with all that patterns on the floor at 1:15:00 pls cause I don’t think I have come across it when I was playing that game back then…
Okay, interestingly, quite a few of the NPC names are entirely different in Japanese katakana compared to the English version. Captain of the ship Klark, "Merrick" for example is called "Dordas", lmao
it happens all the time with translations In Landstalker prequel, the protagonist as originally Lyle was changed to Nigel so it's better to know languages, though Japanese is quite hard
I was curious why you needed to die to get King Snow's sword since I had a distinct memory that if you collected all 40 life vessels and never died you would also get it. After some googling that appears to be a regional difference in the US version of the game along with making all the enemies harder. Never knew. Fantastic run!
In here, the arrow simply goes over the chicken! However, you are right in saying the arrow has a weird hitbox in the sense that we can make it glitch in other ways. If you cast an arrow on the top tile of a waterfall, the downward forced motion of the waterfall will glitch the arrow, and prevent it from moving. It won't hit anything, so it will stay floating in the air. The more arrows you cast, the laggier the game gets. This is because there are too many things on screen at once, and you also have this effect at Wendell's dream when you kill the slime boss! If you reach the limit of items loaded (a bit over 40), and you try to force other things to load, the game will either display the error message (when you open a chest for example), or it will simply crash if you load cutscene elements, like the boulders falling when exiting Coal Mine. Nevertheless, my favourite use of the arrow is at Nestus's Twin boss when you hit the two hitboxes.
as great this game might be, most of the puzzles were completely annoying and disturbed the game for me, this is the reason why i quit this game and never touched it again.
Very happy that the run is on the TASVideos channel! Thanks a lot!🎉

Congrats for the run and thanks for the timestamps. Is the run glitchless? Is this the whole game or its skipped?
Amazing game, can't wait to sit down and watch this.
Thanks for the upload during my September 2022 birthday month!

this was the closest thing to the Landstalker (Genesis) sequel
Oooooo grab some snacks, we're in for a long one today fella's. Edit: Also Alundra is an amazing game. Give it a go if you haven't already.
that one IS good
When you sequence break so hard 2 people come back to life 😂 I also like how all of Elene’s dream is just “disregard females” 👌
Omg yes
This game does some things I like that Zelda still doesn’t do (like all weapons being chargeable and multiple tiers of magic)
zelda is overrated, family friendly and therefore will never be edgy or scary (like this one)
Sounds like the mid-timeline Ys games are up your alley then (Ys 4, 5, 6)
Though Ys is basically a more gameplay-focused Zelda in the first place (with arguably better music)
@@Avrelivs_Gold Apparently the bar for "edgy or scary" is pretty low. This game is neither of those things; just a bland long RPG. I've seen better.

3:06:20 that arrow has the weirdest hitbox or that chicken can ignore due to some programming rule
