I was thinking about this restaurant the other day, remembering the story on the news when it first opened, and wondering how it was doing. So happy to know it’s thriving and growing. I think adding one to the Rutgers campus is genius. As a mother of a college sophomore, I relate to his comments about the meal plans, because I’m always worried about if my son getting enough to eat with his current meal plan. While at the same time, thankful we can afford it, and supplement with groceries. I will look into contributing to their foundation. They are circulating their financial abundance in a manner that is serving the highest good of all. I am so thankful for that, and would like to support that in any way I can.
I just heard recently something on the news about students going to college and not getting enough to eat. Never really thought about it. It makes sense. Getting a college degree or so expensive these days. Nice family. I am thankful for what they do.
Have to say this is something I've been wanting to do for a while is visit the soul kitchen in Red Bank. Such a great concept. Went there last weekend and to be honest this place puts expensive restaurants to shame considering how good the food was, how good all the people working there were.. Just a fantastic experience. Even if you pay it forward, still your donations are less then what you'd pay elsewhere...

The beautiful thing about this concept is that everyone pitches in to contribute. Those who can't pay for meals, work in some capacity to receive them. Everyone eats together. Community forms if even for one meal or work session in the kitchen.People work and eat side by side. Everyone is welcome at the table. And in the kitchen. There is currently a very different model happening in much of the West coast of the United States where people seek to eliminate all suffering before everyone is given an opportunity to participate or contribute. Those being "helped" begin to self identify as being helpless while those who are in a position to give begin to over-identify as being saviors to the downtrodden. People need skills, encouragement and a hand up.
I used to be homeless in this area and JBJ helped me so much during this time. I didn’t have much money so they would let me eat there for free if I volunteered and also gifted me warm clothes since it was winter at the time, I’m so grateful to JBJ and the staff, they have such kind and warm hearts. ❤️
