Very passionate video on Tom Davies 👍👍 Given his stats, your honest opinion of him plus me checking out his foot work on the pitch on RUclips (including THAT goal !!) I would be inclined to keep him at the Lane, due to his talent and desire. But as you alluded to, will he be thought of as an "injury prone" player who may not be able to fulfill his duties on the pitch? Wilder may neither be convinced, nor confident in signing him, if he succumbs easily to injury. Difficult decision for Chris, but I'd like him to be part of the squad - yeah, Hamer, Davies and Master Blaster in midfield is like a kiss from heaven!! 🌟❤️👍. Definitely keeping tabs on this guy! UTB ❤

No ones is buying him, he’s barely played any games the last 3/4 years, stupid decision to give him a 3 year deal, recruitment last few years in terms of permanent signings has been hideous

No one would buy our manager either. Very stupid decision to give him a contract of any length. He’s in his job for all the wrong reasons.

This season couldn't be set up better for Davis and that makes it make or break time for him. Talk of selling him is just a pipe dream - he was months without a club! How is he going to suddenly become 'football's most wanted?'

No-one buys Davies from us I don't think, at least until he's proven his fitness, but if he proves his fitness then his quality is there so we don't want to sell him anyway. He's our player, we have a limited budget, we need to nurse him back to fitness and let him prove his worth. Priorities for us are Keeper(s), CB, LWB and strikers. If there's owt left then yeah, go buy a CMF but it's not the main hole that needs plugging right now

What baffles me is this guy, young talent, great potential, as mentioned already had lots of accolades under his name so no doubt ambitious, hampered by recent injury after injury, thought to himself, "you know where I should start my road to recovery? Injury recovery specialists, Sheffield United!" Poor lad didn't know what he was getting involved with. On the other hand, out of contract I'm sure any job offer was welcome.
Personally, I think he looks like he could be a fantastic player and could rip the championship up but we just cannot carry another injury prone player. Look at Brewster and numerous others. It would only end up in fans resenting him.
So for me, it's a bye bye to Davis, but wish him all the best on his road to recovery and return to form.

Another thing: if he gets his fitness sorted out this preseason then its entirely plausible that hed be one of our dwindling number of remaining candidates for captain. He's a clever player, as well as having some real technical ability under his belt, and to me he's always seemed like he reads the game really well. He's taller than he looks as well, and whilst you wouldn't call him "a big lad", our lack of height in midfield was exposed badly last season, with Souza being the only regular to play in our midfield who's over about 5'9. Davies may only be 5'11, but when he's playing alongside little guys like Hamer and Blaster that height could be important for us (fitness dependant)

What do we do with him? We keep him. We aren’t going to pay him up and release him. If he gets fit he will be one of the best players in the league.

  • @RJH992
    @RJH992 4 месяца назад

I think he might be a great player for us in Championship. If we end up selling Vini Souza then we could play him as a deep-lying midfielder then play him as his natural box-to-box midfielder once he's back in form

Don’t think we’ll have any choice but keeping him as nobody else is going to take a risk on him.
Think he makes the bench at best. Shame as he obviously has talent but just can’t see him staying injury free all season ☹️

Think if we keep him and gus no doubt if he can find his head and feet just maybe he will have his breakthrough season. I want him to say do rate his as a player when he has played for us but he needs to not get injured which is easier said than done🙌

His confidence was shot towards the end of his time at Everton, the evertonians were on his back, feeling he'd lost something from his early time there, his pace seemed slower, decision making slower, and you can't do that in the premier league.i hope he gets that confidence back because if he does it will be like a new signing for the blades.

Everton fan here. I don’t think anyone is buying him from you for much. He looked miles off it from every game of the season following the man city 4-0 win. other than 2-3 quality games we had a better option on the bench for how much he gave the ball away. I liked his work ethic but on the ball he was awful. I could see him being a better rb with a little more time on the ball. Another Rodwell, wilshere, lingard if he stays in the cdm cm role

Two months on and the season has started. Davies was nowhere to be seen in the five pre-season games or the opening two fixtures due to a hamstring injury, which is different to the knee problem that kept him out of the team previously.
    Another preseason missed....

I'd keep him at least until January. If he has a solid preseason under his belt, he'd be a belter.
    However!
I dont reckon Wilder will like him. He's a bit fashionable, a big environmentalist, does art as a hobby, interested in weird fashion, doesn't eat much in terms of animal products (rumours he was a vegan when he arrived but from interviews I think he just only eats sustainable stuff) and all that. I cant see Wilder thinking "this is a lad for me". Wilder wants simple, "normal", laddy lads who have a bit of scrap about 'em.
Personally, I think more conscious, intelligent players with a diversity of interests outside football is not only a good thing, but is inevitable since football academies were made to stary giving their kids a proper education alongside a football one.
Obviously, if someone wants to give us £15m for a player who played 9 games last season and whose only real contribution was that BRILLIANT recovery tackle against Luton (was it in the build-up to Souza's goal or was it later than that?) and getting us on national media with his discussions about mental health and environmental issues (which is a good enough off-pitch contribution for my money), then obviously it has to be considered, but I don't reckon there will be anything thats actually worth selling him for, and I think keeping him on, either playing a 6 or an 8 role (I've seen him say his favourite position to play is box to box), he'll absolutely SMASH the championship, and be worth more in a year/18 months
