How much POWER will I be running on the 42 year net ????

- Testing my set up for upcoming BIG CB NET on the 2nd of November 2023. I will be running a little extra power to be heard over the pile up. How much is TOO much ?

I'm going to try and join the net from Missouri USA. Started with a Rotel RVC-240 in 81....
Not had a Radio since 1982 just orderd one, if its here by the 2nd I hope to join in from Bedfordshire

Yes comment in "buy a second hand hf" dont forget a majority will have a ATU to keep the SWR down for TX and don't forget the filtering, noise blanking and DSP to clean up the RX

I remember CB from 42 years ago , I met my girlfriend on CB , back in 1981 , sadly she recently passed away , her handle was Devil Woman & her birthday was 31st October Halloween , I've great memories on CB Radio from back in the day , it was a different world .

Hi Julian. Sorry sorry to hear the sad news about your girlfriend. So many people met for the first time on CB radio. The eyeballs were something else. I had a few good ones but things did not always work out.

I turned the CB on last night thinking there would be celebrations on the channels , I scanned all 40 channels all night & sadly there wasn't anything in Brighton , I can receive a fairly wide coverage , but sadly nothing apart from white noise , hopefully there was celebrations in other parts of the UK ?, CB radio 1981 . @@CB-RADIO-UK

I turn the rf on the radio I turn it down to 2 w n turn the mod up to all most 100% the kl200 run Purdy clean like that but I run most bigger Amps n or radio's if I do
I prefer higher gain antenna n really low loss coax n low power but if it gets mean out thare some times i fire up one of my big ones walk the dog n kick the cat

Greetings. I recon that 2 watts in to these small amps is a sweet spot esp on SSB. They do work well on FM if you dont over drive them. Good tip on the ow loss coax. Its all about the antenna and set up at the end of the day.
can that go down to 26.805.. the 2 and 9 div run a fm call freq now.. with a good few trans atlantic contacts from time to time in good conditons
Does the FCC regulate that (ok here in States). black SUV's showing up. I used to watch videos people would modify their base station radios (with all that 'stuff' inside) to increase wattage above 4 watts. Do you start messing with Hamm radio bans? That's the power to the + on the antenna (reach farther). I know it's complicated. Referred to as Pirate CB radio.
Nope not legal. I never mess with HAM bands myself. Respect the hobby and only transmit on 11m.

If you use a cheap liniair amplifier buy/ use a good filter !
CB amplifiers often don't have good filters.
Yes i dont plan on using it all the time.
Hopefully it won’t be the shambles of a year or two ago, if it gets really busy people qsy to another channel for qso then return for another contact 73
