    One wheel vehicle (Monowheel) built by Kerry McLean and recorded by mr.d of kimerykreations at Schoolcraft College "Wheels of Tomorrow" in Livonia Michigan USA.
    For Kerry McLean it all started with the first monowheel he built in 1971 and after his first ride he was smitten with the bug to make it better. Kerry has been building his unique monocycles ever since then and he continues to refine his creation with each new model. Kerry has developed and sold numerous versions of his monowheel, the smallest which is powered by a 5 hp Briggs lawn mower engine and his largest model is powered by a Buick V8 engine!
    Visit McLean Monocycle on Facebook or their website www.mcleanmonocycle.com for more information.

    "Wheels of Tomorrow"--a device first prototyped in1915. We've had a hundred years to make the monowheel practical. Maybe this is our lucky year?

    This is dope. See, monowheels are difficult to turn normally, but when putting your foot down they can turn incredibly tight. If you learn how to use it, a mono wheel can be used inside a building pretty well. Any other thing that can drive inside of a building will be out-maneuvered by running or walking. But this thing is actually better. I did some calculating and it’s mind boggling. If you’re inside of an office building, a well designed mono wheel will be able to move around the corners and straights much faster than someone who is running. Just imagine that. I think this might be great for use by security in things like malls, or offices. Imagine a security guard on this thing. People run away inside buildings all the time, but with this, security can do it’s job better. I have a quite wealthy friend who also heard me out on this, and he is thinking about investing in this. I’m commenting this here, just to be able to look back at my comment in a while, and see wether this became a succes or not.
    I’ll remember everyone here if it does become successful

      the inner rim that you sit in spins independently, you would spin on the rim a little....probable not even a quarter turn though.

    • @GeneralMe100
      @GeneralMe100 9 лет назад +1

      I know the outer wheel is independent, but the action of applying the brake you would have thought would eliminate said independents and bind the outer rim to the inner, then logically power to weight would cause the whole thing to roll with you inside it, now I know that doesn't happen, but I'm intrigued to know how the braking arrangement still maintains independents between the outer and inner rim, I'm talking under extreme braking conditions, how is the friction applied to stop the vehicle yet still allowing for the centre to spin freely, I assume it operates similar to anti lock brakes on a car.

    Interesting, how it performs an emergency brake application?
    How does it steer on a highway? And within a city traffic?
    Or how does it perform emergency maneuvering?
    By the way, the Dynasphere from the 1930-s had a genius steering system! Don't know how it would work at modern speeds, but the idea is brilliant!
    And here you need lots of shoes:)
