@Zizinah You should feel proud!!! If it wasn't good they wouldn't have tried to copy it. Just like the Dutch is doing with the Zomer karnaval, which is an Antillean Festival. FEEL PROUD, NOT ANGRY. They learned from you.n Look at things in a POSITIVE LIGHT!!!
@Zizinah Relaxxx when u say the french? i hope you are not refering to US french speaking islands HAITI/ MARTINIQUE/GUADA/ or african countries Cameroon/ivory coast/benin etc who dance ZOUK/KOMPA etc which is similar to KIZOMBA but with french words.. becoz we sure didn copy it

@barbadoslimful Kizomba start only in Angola, Kizomba it's not Zouk, althow they have similiar tempos :) . Kizomba start in Angola in the 70's, and it's a derivation of Semba, not Samba but Semba. _Semba means umbigada- (touch with navel, or strike with navel). _
@@brasileuroeuro4059 eu não disse que a musica não era de cabo verde. Eu disse que o ritmo kizomba é de origem angolana... Queres que te faça um desenho?

Can you tell me how old is zouk? zouk is not that old honey...not even 50 years old. listen here, look up Voz de Cabo Verde, Bana, and the other oldies and get a feel how rich our music is. There's lots of similarity to the music of the french antilles. The antillians refined it then re-introduced back to us darling...that's all. But who cares? Let's just celebrate that these types of music can bring us closer instead of dividing us.

If you gonna go way back to the times of colonialization you should know that zouk, and kompa derives from west african islands called Cabo Verde. The genre is batouk which is the tree root that all the others stem from. Batouk is faster tempo but the beat count is the same. Then there's coladeira style which I strongly believe is connected with zouk, kompa and then the latest which is kizomba. Look up the history of Cape Verde's music so you can have a better understanding please.
In Cape Verde, we have Morna, Coladeira, Batouk, Funana which can be broken into many other styles. We've had these styles of music for many many years and if you really have an ear for music, you'll hear that the underlying beat which is the base of all African influenced music is quite similar but the tempo changes. Some tempo are faster like in funana and slower like in coladeira. Which by the way, is similar to that of zouk, kompa and kizomba just slower than the ones mentioned previously.
@ItBeThatGirlUKno that's a question with different answers... basically people from Angola and Cape-Verde will never accept that Zouk is older then Kizomba. But the truth is, it is... Zouk singers even call Kizombas like this one "ghetto zouk". But my answer is: it's not the same, but have the same origins

How can you bring up the research topic when a lot of that BS research is based on biased speculation of those that don't want to give credit to where credit is due. Our music is even in the brasilian samba never mind yall's music. We were discovered 30+ years before the Americas. How can your music influence ours when we are the first European and African mixed peoples in the tropics? I really don't get that at all!!! You know why we have so many different music styles? Look it up n you'll c
