What a great hack. Had exactly this problem and this 100% works. I used an 11.1v 3s lipo battery from a R/C model instead of a charger and instantly enough power for the key fob to unlock the doors. Took less than 2 minutes and no crawling under the van or getting hands dirty. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for this information. I was locked out with the same problem yesterday. I did this today and it works 100%, now got back into my van and battery charged.
Been locked out of my vivaro for two weeks, I did this today as I’ve been too busy over Christmas and new year, I took out the indicator and bulb, I stuck one wire in each terminal and then put it on my DeWalt impact driver battery, I pressed the key and it popped straight up, I couldn’t believe it!
I came out to my vivaro van this morning and I have the same problem, the battery was flat and the lock won’t work with the key, I will try this tomorrow and let you all know how I get on.
that is amazing considering the indicator was switched off leaving no path to the battery for the charger to work, maybe if you just pressed the key fob in the first place the door would have unlocked.
If the indicators are anything like the interior lights then it's the neutral which acts as the switch on these so the live would be an unbroken pathway to the battery.

of course I tried the fob... why would I do all that if it was working...

Didnt work on my van
it only works on youtube
Why not just reach under and put the clips on the power lead to the starter? Much less fannying.
because I have no idea how to do that or what that is.
I have done this to a Renault traffic van.
Has not worked for me
