And one info that I wanted to give you that is not a spoiler, and it was not mentioned in the anime but was mentioned in the light novel, is that the girl that was wearing the skimpy bikini actually had a goal behind her actions... so in Paul's current party had the 2 girl, a fighter, and a mage. They are sisters who when they were teleported actually got slaved and were violated by some men and the younger sibling who is a mage was traumatized. So the older sister started wearing that skimpy outfit so all the men gazes would always fall on to her and not her sister. I hoped that the anime would mention this detail. Thanks for reading
Even worse is what I've heard. Those two and some others got teleported into a bandit camp and were kept as slaves and violated until Paul rescued them.
It just occurred to me that the last time Paul talked to Geese, his oldest friend, was when the party was disbanded. They found out Zenith was pregnant and he told them he's leaving the party with her, taking a clean break. He absolutely napalmed his bridges. And here they are twelve years later, with Geese telling him he's a hopeless dad. The way Geese spells thing out for him is just pure gold. Paraphrasing, "You should be happy to see your son alive after so long, but instead you're angry at him for not having suffered more than you have." The way Paul breaks down at the well and in his son's arms as he realizes the truth of those words is just heartwrenching. In the book Geese also helped finish Rudeus' journey story, since the boy didn't even get to talking about his imprisonment. Geese told him how the beastfolk were holding him, and Paul realized his son was essentially on death row, with the beastfolk enacting their most humiliating practices on him before his eventual execution. Geese started cackling about how he expected to see a boy curled up and blubbering in fear, but instead... "Welcome to life's final destination." That convinced him the boy had to be Paul's. I don't remember him telling about the fight against Gallus, though, since Rudeus won that.
Yeah Paul got into that state basically because: 1.- He’s going crazy trying to find his family and hasn’t gotten results in almost 2 years now 2.- the insane pressure of finding all the lost and rescuing them was put on him, they named him the leader of the searching party and the pressure became too much for him Also I love how his only salvation and last hope of clinging to his sanity was Norn❤️
Sauros' sister is Paul's mother, which makes Paul and Philip cousins, and Rudy and Eris 2nd cousins. there are probably some more blood relations between the Boreas and Notos families further up the line as well, but that's just how nobility worked in feudal times. there is a limit to who's available for marriage within the small circle of high nobles. it's no different to how every noble family in Europe is related to each other to certain degrees.
6:40 The bread animation is so over--the-top that it's one of the highlights of the first season. Ref Geese looking for Paul's family. When he was at the Beastman village, he heard about somebody resembling Rudeus who was in prison. He *intentionally* got himself arrested so he could see him. As an adventurer, he's a high-level thief/rogue type. He could have escaped from the prison at any time but he wanted to keep an eye on Rudeus.
Not a spoiler, just the anime doesn’t mention it; about the sisters. The one wears little clothing to have all the eyes on her instead of her sister the, one with the cloak, who was assaulted after the teleportation incident and understandably hates men’s gazes.
This is one, if not the best episode of the first season in my opinion. A father that's on the brink of giving up hope but refuses to stop looking for his family to make sure that they're safe. He didn't even consider that Rudy was in trouble because, thinking he's overpowered and can handle anything that would stand in his way but forgot that despite Rudy's talent he's still just a kid. Also Geese is the best, him putting some perspective in what Paul's high expectations of Rudy were and reminding him to be happy that Rudy is still alive after his journey. The part where Rudy runs into his arms and they both let their emotions out always gets my eyes to leak since I never got the chance with mine
I liked how in the Manga Geese took Paul into the sewege to fight of strong Monster that are Nesting there and he explains how Rudeus was at a place where even more dangerous Monster live and that he could have died there at any moment.
I would agree that this is arguably the best episode of Mushoku Tensei, at the very least Top 5 IMO. Toshiyuki Morikawa (Paul's VA) really performed in the "Do-Over" scene, truely a goat. Another moment I wanted to highlight is Eris' telling Rudeus that she already mentally prepared for possible deaths in her family caused by the Teleportation Incident (something that hasn't even crossed Rudeus' mind up until he met Paul btw.). Eris demonstrates some intense maturity for a 13/14 year old in these last two episodes, which makes me love her so much more than I already did. Behind all that bad temper and irrational behaviour, there is actually a pretty mature and caring young girl, and seeing her grow from the spoiled brat she was in episode 5 to this amazing character is so statisfying.
recapitulating greyrat familly tree before it gets complicated. most of this information was already avaliable back on rudeus 10th anniversary. first thing to remember is that there 4 diferent "main" families(goes back to the role of four brothers in the funding of the kingdon) while there many intermariages throught the generations they are essentially separated families so i will refer to the second part of the name (also o will name drop some characters, some where aleeady said so far in the novel others arent relevant/present) Boreas:Eris, Sauros(former head ba dun ts), Philip, james(curent head), etc Notos: Pilemon, Paul(technically he cut away his connections to the familly but since everyone sems to hate Pilemon they made sure that the door still opem). now the conection, sauros sister (Valentina boreas) married Amarant Notos giving birth to Paul and Pilemon, so Sauros is directly Paul uncle and Rudeus granduncle
If you want to, Otaku Spirit has a skipped scenes series that right now there's no way they adapt to anime. But make sure to watch the OVA for this season first (not the season 2 OVA).
Paul thinking that he's Alone, but actually his friends that he thought already hates him help and looking for his family too. And Geese success found Rudy and reuinted them, but rahter than ruunion with Rudy he fight with Rudy. Of course its kinda f up. Geese already looking up for his family and this is how he treated Rudy.
Geese’s character design in the anime doesn’t fit the light novel. He’s actually a demon and not a human, which is why he knows what it’s like on the demon continent. Ruijerd and Roxy look like humans to us, but they have traits that distinguish them as demons in that world. The anime removed Geese’s trait that identified him as a demon at a glance.

@@JonathanJones-uv6dp What a subnormal person we have here.
Nobody does complex and realistic family dynamics and relationships like Mushoku Tensei.

Not only her sister, but all women with same fate in the group. She was taking aggro, so to speak.

Rudy and Eris are second cousins. Paul and Eris' dad are cousins. Paul's mom was the sister of Eris' grandpa Sauros

Weird things aside, mushoku tensei is one of the best shows that portrays realism in terms of characters despite it being a fantasy type story

Ngl i would have loved a Paul and Eris sparring
Current Eris or saint level Eris, will be beaten by a more experienced Paul but king level - emperor level will never be beaten by Paul.
