So, what will you learn in this new grasshopper architecture tutorial for parametric architecture and design?
First, we’ll show you how to use grasshopper 3d and rhino 3d to establish a plane surface and use diamond panels component which is a part of lunchbox plugin to create a paneling pattern over this surface using different parameters. This is an example of parametric design, (also called parametric modeling in this easy grasshopper tutorial for beginners).
Next, you’ll go through the grasshopper scripting process or easy grasshopper definition to set up image sampler component with this script, adding a gradient map which controls the facade or the pattern over the surface and finalize this parametric geometry that you can manipulate with number sliders and a graph mapper. This is a great example of parametric design and parametric architecture.
Rhinoceros is a 3d modeling software for architects and designers, and grasshopper is a plugin that is used for virtual scripting for parametric modeling and parametric design in architecture for creating parametric facade for building designs. lunchbox is component for grasshopper. This process is also called computational design and generative design.
This is a grasshopper rhino tutorial and you will go through this rhino grasshopper scripting for 3d parametric design. Check out more architecture tutorials for grasshopper 3d and rhino 3d tutorials from our parametric architecture playlist. These lessons will take you from beginner in grasshopper/rhino to advanced level.

Thanks for the tutorial! It worked perfectly, but when I tried it on another surface created with the surface from a network of curves command on rhino there was an error with the simple mesh component. Any suggestions on how to solve it or if there is a work around this issue?

Hi, I really love this tutorial. Only when I try to create the delaunay mesh an error apppears saying "Insufficient points for triangulation. You need at least three.". Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the tutorial! For some reason, I am not getting that flatness from higher areas to lower. All my diamonds are uniform height. Do you know what component might be affecting this?

Thank you. If the heights of the facade from diamond panels are uniform, Just check the image sampler settings and make sure that channel "colour brightness' is selected for the gradient to take effect. Also you can alter X and Y domain in the image sampler which may vary with the units of model, and dimension of the surface you're applying the pattern to.

hey there ..your tutorial is very informative. but the problem is i am unable to find the diamond panelling tool or lunchbox . if you able to give link in the description below or plz make a video on that how to download ad install the plugin..it would be really helpful for me as well as for your other viewers also .
    thanks for informative tutorial.

You should be able to find them under tab Lunchbox > Panels > Diamond Panel. Make sure Lunchbox option appears on grasshopper ribbon.

@@architutors i solved the problem. I had to install lunchbox via the add on tool. After that it worked.
