Dimash is an advocate of peace and is now an ambassador for that. He composed this and it was his thesis for university, I believe. He always sung this at concerts, but since composing The Story of One Sky, he now sings that instead. Please watch the 14 min mv of that song and then the live version at Almatey. It is the highlight of his career, a masterpiece.

The Kazaks are 82% Muslim and Dimash is among that group. While we hear all kinds of issues among the Middle Eastern Muslims, the Kazaks are a very peaceful people. For 7+ decades, Kazakhstan was used a the main warriors of the USSR. They lost huge numbers of their men and great prevailed through out Kazakhstan. The Kazak warriors were known as fierce warriors and protected the USSR to the death. Not for want but because the USSR would have destroyed their people. Now, all the Kazaks was is peace. They were given their own freedom as a free republic in 1991 and Dimash was born in 1994. His grandparents and parents all lived through the horrors so Dimash is particularly tender about the tenuous peace they have. He wants nothing more than peace for the world. You Should watch this video Dimash directed a few years back to get an understanding of what their country went through. Thank you for your reaction. I believe Dimash is using quarter tones (Eastern scale) in the part you were describing as bended notes. Quarter tones are in between the half tones on the Western scale.

The orchestration is very powerful.
