  • After becoming Catholic Travis realized just how many similarities there are between Mormonism and Catholicism, even still being vastly different, there are many areas of common ground that can serve as good starting points for healthy discussion between Mormons and Catholics.

    I am a Mormon. My Dad converted from Catholicism when I was about four years old. Although I have experienced many powerful miracles as a Mormon, I have recently found myself very attracted to the ancient beauty found in the Catholic Church. I call it holy envy.
    I am beginning to learn that while the entire Christian world is caught up in the spirit of tribalism, God is so good that He is willing to meet us where we are at. If we feel at home with the Catholics, God will meet us there. If we feel at home among the Protestants, God will meet us there. If we feel at home among the Mormons, God will meet us there. God is so much bigger than one denomination.
    I have experienced many of the same miracles through priesthood blessings as a Mormon that Catholics have experienced through praying the rosary. While I do not understand it, I stand all amazed as I consider our God who is more merciful than we can ever begin to comprehend.

      Amen to that!! Thank you for this comment. I think we need more ecumenism in the world. Like in the essence of the word ‘catholic’ meaning universal, God is truly the God of all, outside of religion even.
      Even if He has established “one true religion” He’s so good he still forgives the thief of the cross. He still gives miracles to sinners, he’ll still allow blessings to Islam or Hindu’s etc.
      One of my favorite devotions in the Catholic Church is that of Divine Mercy, because just like you said, God is bigger than all of us, and His mercy

    I've noticed that Catholics make great 'Mormons', too. That's why we baptise about 75,000 of them every year.❤😊

      Where did you get that number? Just curious. I mean it would make sense that if the convert baptisms you’d have people who were non practicing Catholics seeing as they making up almost 1/4 of the worlds population.

    • @Mendozam4
      @Mendozam4 3 дня назад +1

      @@HowdyHowdens in the catechisms of the Holy Catholic Church, "those who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church." So, the church recognizes all Christians with a trinitarian baptism as part of the Catholic Church. It could be argued that technically all Protestants and Catholics that are baptized by Mormons contribute to that number of "converted Catholics". I don't think the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints keeps track of what religion people convert from, so while that number is more than reasonable, I doubt that there is a real number out there.
      Anecdotally I know a couple of priests that converted to Mormonism, so not exactly non practicing Catholics. Here in Mexico the majority of Mormons were Catholics at some point, but that just comes with the territory I guess. I also know some active LDS who converted to Catholicism. Either way, practicing Catholics are less likely to convert to other faiths, but practicing Catholics most definitely do as well especially in Catholic majority areas.

      Imperfect communion does NOT make one part of the true Church. It merely means they happen to have taken some "elements of sanctification and truth" with them when they departed from the one true Church (the Catholic Church). The Church teaches that they are separated due to heresy and schism. We have to pray for them to return to the only true Church, apart from which there is no salvation, as the Catholic Church taught infallibly on at least three occasions when it was defined as dogma. @@Mendozam4

    • @HowdyHowdens
      @HowdyHowdens  3 дня назад +2

      @@Mendozam4 I see your point! Although the Catholic church has come out and said Mormon baptisms are not valid because of their differing belief in the Trinity, so even though they say the right words, because they have a different view, that baptism is not considered a Christian baptism. Only ignorant Mormons do, very different beliefs!!! Also, Mormons did not authorize evil inquisitions! The LDS church is the true restored church of Jesus Christ with EVERYTHING the Christ originally set up, including the true foundation of prophets and apostles and not popes, cardinals, and other BS!!!

      The whole point of the video is highlighting the similarities… I could speak for hours at the differences. My intent in this video wasn’t to show the differences.
      The one question I would ask you, is WHEN did the apostasy happen. As a Mormon you have to be able to defend that, it’s very important. Because if the apostasy didn’t happen then there was no need of a restoration. There needs to be a clear answer when the apostasy happened.

    • @GeorgeDemetz
      @GeorgeDemetz 3 дня назад +1

      @@HowdyHowdens The apostasy was something that gradually happened and reached universal apostasy at 570 AD around the time of the Lombard invasion, and was restored in 1830 AD 1260 years later. Revelation 12:6 states that the woman representing the bride of Christ or the church was driven in the wilderness for 1260 days, but these are prophetic days representing years. The driven in the wilderness means no public ministry. The 13th chapter of Revelation states that the beast made war with the SAINTS and overcame them for 42 months m, 1260 days, meaning 1260 years (see Clarke's Commentary). Peter prophesied that the heavens would receive Christ UNTIL the times of the "restitution of ALL things," and this prophesy was fulfilled when He came back in 1820 to use Joseph Smith as His prophet to helo restore ALL things.
