Thank you very much as ever Michele 😊 I use the three primary colours that Schmincke refer to in their charts: Helio cerulean blue, cadmium yellow light and magenta. With kind regards, Dudley
I have been practicing mixing and painting skin tones so the last part was helpful but most of all, that cool primaries seems better for my current subject than I had thought!
Wonderful demo and commentary! I always have trouble getting dark green or gray-greens, and beiges. And there's my next 10 min. time filler idea- color mixing!
This was extremely interesting and informative. I can apply it to my work immediately. You demonstrated all the colors I have been struggling with to Mix myself. Excellent!!!
I loved this video. I love to play in color, meaning mixing and not getting that ugly color, lol. I have a friend im giving your url too, she will enjoy this too.
Today I actually painted along with the video. It was brilliant and I am so pleased with my efforts. Confidence growing and technique improving. The instructions are so clear and simple theory has helped my understanding. Thank you so much. Looking forward to next video ❤
This is one of 3 videos on color mixing... this one only using the primaries... fascinating, Michele! Thank you! This will help me on my return to painting again... still a new again beginner 😂 With love from a California Gramma... Wow, Michele... Egypt!!! You always amaze me!!!
Wow, that test swatch looks completely different from what I see on the paint palette mix! I would never have expected to get that gorgeous color on the paper from that mix of paint. Great tip to frequently swatch those paint colors as we mix!
Thank you! Love your teaching style and enjoying bringing better theoretical understanding.. as a 'renewby' - applying the oft used, 'less is more' in terms of colour mixing skills. Great!
I found this a great refresher on the basics of color mixing. No matter how many similar videos I watch, I always pick up a little something new that I hadn’t thought of or had forgotten.
I really appreciate this tutorial, bringing both analysis and real-time demonstrations together, color mix by color mix. Always appreciate the cat-friendly-ness. I'm very sadly catless at this time, but I know that that eases arts-ing about with graphite and watercolor. Thank you.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber A chuckle - cat supervision and pace...; Gimlet's sewing supervision... Appreciate the humor along with the serious art guidance.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber We used to call our last cat "The Supervisor". I have one photo of her atop a ladder, smashing her head against the closed attic hatch. She knew electrical wiring work was being performed without her inspection! Totally unacceptable in her book.
The tip to analyze as you mix to make adjustments was my favorite. Many times I keep adding and adding color until I get that dreaded vomit color. I feel I now have a better grasp on what is happening. No more sickening colors mixes for me.
Thank you so much for this video. Can’t wait to get practicing! I’m quite a beginner to watercolour, indeed painting full stop. Easy to understand some basic colour theory. ❤
I found this really interesting, Michele, thank you. You demonstrated some great colours. The cream surprised me the most, I've usually warmed my buff titanium up slightly but will be trying your version in future. Keep the humour coming, it's great😊
Thank you, Michele , I love how you explain the various colors and how they work, as well as the order of which to add in order to get correct colors. You’re soo helpful and I appreciate you soo much💝🎨
Thank you, Michele. That was surprisingly interesting for what might be considered a fairly fundamental subject. (Although I’m not good at it myself, I must admit.) Those colours were quite delicious looking.
I loved this video. Thanks to you and your cat. I have a black cat as well. She likes to sit in my lap and sleep while I watch watercolor videos. When I switch to studying languages, she perks up and gives me some odd looks when I speak any of these languages to her. I especially liked the sections on the greys and the discussion of how to move from brown to grey.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Maybe so. I'm waiting for the day she intones in a lovely guttural Dutch accent, "Ik heb honger. Mag ik iets te eten, alsjeblieft?"😁
I appreciate a color mixing video that uses CMY as the primaries. A nice change from the usual RYB mixing, especially when it comes to creating lovely purples.
Hi Michelle another very interesting video thanks. Will try those at the art class next week. I have started back going to an art class after a fall last year when I broke my shoulder and elbow. The classes are helping but my shoulder aches after a while. Hopefully I will be able to have a shoulder replacement later on in the year. Also u slipped on some ice in December and broke my left shoulder but that he's healed a lot better! 17:5117:5117:51
Such a great video, Michele ! Really helpful and very important ! I will be watching it again so that I can pause and take notes. Thank you so much 🎉😊🎉
This was brilliant, thank you! I've just bought some thalo blue so using this is your video was really helpful. I like the way the Jackman's colours work too, I'm going to try some 😊
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber To me, alizarin crimson has a kind of brownish cast to it. I've therefore used it as a base for making earthy, non-color colors.
Hi, I have a video on it. I'm not able to put links here but the title for the search bar is: Watercolor Mixing Tutorial (Green Shade vs Red Shade EXPLAINED!)
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber just watched it and found it really helpful. Thank you so much for your time and efforts. You are such a good artist and exceptionally well teacher.
It's best to buy earth colors, you can mix an approximation by using yellow with pink and blue in the smallest proportion, but a mixed brown won't have the full beauty of natural earths. All three primaries mixed will make browns if the yellow and red are dominant, add more blue and you get grays.

This was very helpful. As an aside I HATE alizarin crimson.
I find it only useful for certain muted petals and skin tones, it's not much good for mixing, and the cheaper brands can be terrible...
