That trick with turning the column was awesome!
Thanks lol
Wow, what a great restoration.
Thanks
Awesome video and masterful work. I just wished the music was a bit lower and I could actually make out the sound of the process itself
Newer videos have lower music and more sounds. Noted
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair well, I'll subscribe for those and the future videos 👍👍
Thank you
If this channel did not exist; it would have been necessary to invent it. I hope to see you restore many more older machines. great work
There will be more restorations to come thank you
I love your solutions to problems.
Thank you
Baldor grinder & Festool tools this guy earned his respect and legitimacy:) great work!
Love both brands
Sweet work madman... Once you laid up that Milwaukee lathe......... I was sold. Solid job. Thanks for showing us your work.
Thanks
I bought 1988 WS-15 press drill made in poland - this is solid machine , weight like 280lbs and is is table drill press (small compact size). It has 1,1kw 3 phase (380V) motor. It is so much powerfull it can burn a crap quality drills , and you can easly drill 20mm I love to use it.
That sounds awesome
Always great work. I love watching .
Thank you
Idk how I’m just recently finding your channel. Love it.
Thank you I appreciate it
great job!
Thanks!
I've rebuilt 5 of these DP600's. I only strip paint if they're been previously re-painted. (it's an absolutely miserable job). If it's original factory paint it's as tough as nails and it's a great base for a new topcoat once you properly prepare the old surface. I love you column polishing jig and your table repair!!
Thank you!
Very nice. Save the machines !!!!!
Agreed
This is so satisfying.
Thank you
😊 Very nice job. It looks fantastic
Thank you! 😊
You do very nice work. I have rebuilt a couple of drill presses, but all I did was to install new bearings and adjust everything as best as I could. I got my machines from my uncle that was a manager for a company that made screws and bolts for Pratt & Whitney. I bought new drill presses that I'm not sure were as good as what I already had. I wish I had painted them and gone over them as you did.
Yeah the old machines are better. They just don’t make them like that anymore
Nice job on the table.
Thanks!
Nice blend of old and new, well worth the effort. Not crazy about the colour but to each their own. I love the look of machines from that era.
Thank you for the kind words. The color is polarizing I will agree.
Stunning job restoring that old drill.
Thank you!
You should start a business restoring old tools and re-selling them. You do such a good job on these restorations!
Thank you. No one will pay for what’s involved to do it right when a new one can be had so cheap. No one wants to spend 3k on a drill press lol.
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair I’m afraid that u r right. The Chinese have flooded us us with so much cheap crap, that hardly anyone appreciates quality anymore.
Hey! brother man, we are built from the same cloth. If your in there to change bearings, might as well powder coat it. Cover/plug all tolerance areas. I have a 70’s Delta (bowling baller) DP, it’s all yellow with black highlights. Keep up the beautiful work.
Yes indeed. Thank you sir. Thanks for feedback
excellent work. I have an old Waldron I will restore one day
Those are great thx
Excellent restoration!
Thank you
How did you learn sooo much at a young age?
AWESOME
Constantly seeking information. Not sitting around doing nothing. Getting out there to start making mistakes!
Nice BIG vise!
Thanks
Beautiful job well done.
Thank you
Beautiful drill. Love those DP600 Deltas. Glad you were able to repair the production table. Subbed!
Glad you liked it. It was a fun build
I was pretty shocked how well that table seemed to weld. Was it cast iron? What process did you use? What filler. Thanks for the cool content!
Agree, nice job on that table. Looks fantastic
Wonder full job my friend....From Australia
Thank you
Awesome work! Awesome video! I have the same drill press that I’m about to restore. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely. Good luck

Espectacular te quedo felicitaciones me encantó la restauración. .saludos de argentina! !!
Thank you
Cool colors👍. I loathe Battleship gray on equipment.Bright so one can see all the parts. You need a Hydraulic press.👍
A Press is on the short list
Very cool. Thanks for the vid. Just picked up a 1978 Duracraft DP-514 today for $80. Going to start my press project this week!
Good luck
awesome job !!!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I'm just starting a restoration with a very similar 17-600 and found the taper is completely destroyed. It seems that the original tapers were barely hardened and get gulled very easily.
Yeah I had similar issues. It’s a good drill press
O meu sósia. Tudo ao pormenor.
Gosto muito do seu trabalho e conhecimentos.
Obrigado
Thanks
I tried the same paint stripper as you and even though I have another brand new can of it, I won't ever use it again, Enough said. I started using Citrus Strip and it's the best stripper I have ever used for several reasons.
Yeah stripper works but it has its cons
Beautifully restored. It seems you really like this blue color, I'm just wondering how it looks like after few days with oil on it.
It’s really dirty lol. No more of this color. I like it but my next restos will be different colors
Love the music and editing, forget all the naysayers!
I was wondering if you would mind sharing a link to the VFD and Motor you used? I know you made this video years ago and may not even see this however I would be very grateful if you do 👍🏻
I don’t have links unfortunately. It was a 1hp kb sealed drive. The motor was 1hp sealed I got as new old stock from eBay Baldor. 220v 1725rpm
Awesome 👍 عمل رائع
Thank you
good job!! regards from Uruguay!!
Thank you!
Nice job! Greetings from germany
Thank you.
Thanks for video. I wish these kinds of videos came more.
It would be better for you to add some repair work without interrupting it for us. feel free to extend the video. we are more upset that short videos end quickly.
Thanks for the feedback
Ficou sensacional a reforma.Você soldou ferro fundido com mig ,com arame normal.
Thank you. Yep
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks
Красавчик 👍
Thank you
How do you have the confidence to just take every piece apart from the get go🤯
Just went for it
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair And you did it all in 17 minutes.
Nice resto, but really not a fan of either music or it's volume. Yeh, ok sure, I can turn the sound, but then when you talk to camera I need to turn it up. Sure, I can do all that. It's not hard, but it takes away from the viewing enjoyment of your video.
Thanks for the feedback
is the inner race on 87593 spindle bearing recessed on one side?
Not sure so long ago lol
Great sound track.
Thank you
Just to grind down those welds to surface must have taken forever. I know, I was doing the same thing last night.
Lol yeah
Love your restorations, not a fan of the music
Thanks good to know
You do excellent work. I subbed you.
I appreciate it
Um sonho
Thank you
Really awesome your restoration
How much drill press cost please ?
2g maybe
Over here second hand from Japan 5G it over my budget
Nice work on the drill press! What wire did you use to weld the table and base and what kind of paint?
Automotive paint. Basic solid core Mig wire. Mig is not the best thing to use but it did work Tig would probably be better
Did it in fast motion
True
Can you powder coat over that filler? And I love that your wife is helping you out, mine can't stand the smell of my garage.
No power coating over filler due to heat. You can paint though over filler.
What do you do to keep the bare metal from rusting?
I use fluid film
Muito bom !!
Thank you
Turned out great, new to your channel have a shop of my own like you and love the work! Few thoughts with those cast parts, I would be careful with a scaler and maybe think about brazing next time, welding cast is so hit and miss. But again great job!
Ok great tips. I’ll keep those in mind. I do have a tig welder now so cast repair might go better might not. I have done a few repairs since then with mixed results. Depends on the casting I guess.
Nice restoration . I know it takes a lot of time and effort for a project like that . I have restored a couple of industrial air compressors . What kind of VFD is that ? Look forward to some more videos !
Thank you! It is a kbac 24d they are great vfds good because they have a sealed box and an easy to use interface
What songs is this? Congratulations from Brazil
Thanks
Great job, man! Do your drill press have a 1/2 HP motor?
1hp
Also, where did you get that lamp you installed around the quill? Nice!
I think I got it on eBay. It was listed as a milling machine quill light
Lovely job! I'm planning to add VFD to my drill press - did you just leave the belt in (say) the middle pulleys?
I keep the belt in the lowest setting because I use it for tapping a lot but I can move the belt if I needed to go faster faster
can you post a link to the "bel aire" style paint you used? It's beautiful.
I don’t have it sorry
Great video! I’ve restored one of these and have three more in queue. They are quite fun.
Question; did you buy or build the motor adapter? I could use a few.
Thank you I build the adapter plate. It was pretty easy to make if I remember right
Nice work overall! May I humbly suggest that your next restoration be a hydraulic/pneumatic frame press? (It's killing me to watch those bearings get hammered on!) Also, your paint work is fantastic, on both this and your lathe, but MAN would you save a lot of time and effort if you would just use some hand cleaner, brother! 😂
Thanks man. I need a press bad for sure. I know more know than I did but still need one. Which hand cleaner would you suggest. Are you talking about paint stripper?
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair NOT paint stripper!!! God Lord, you don't ever want to put that on skin! Heavy rubber gloves when using that. I just noticed all the greasy fingerprints on that fresh paint that you then have to clean off... Just keep a bottle of GoJo or Goop or the orange-smelling stuff that I can't remember the name of right now... Ten seconds with that and a paper towel and most of that grease will be gone. Too much work to clean later!
O I thought you meant on the machines. For my hands lol. Yes I have Gojo. Lol. Glad I cleared that up. Thanks
Your face looks like a russian singer Decl(Дэцл).
Lol
Is there a reason you use the filler ? the base surface looks fairly good.
It wasn’t bad but I wanted to get the surface as smooth as possible
You would be happier replacing that Jacob's chuck with an Albrecht.
I like both. I have both
@VanoverCustoms In reading on various machinist websites recently I have read so many bad things about the quality of new Jacob's chucks it has spooked me on new Jacob's chucks. That was what prompted my comment.
@@herbholmberg4474 you are right. The one in this video was made in US but I have also read those comments. To be honest I like the keyless chucks but have mostly been using the keyed super chucks these days they have more gripping power especially for taps and less likely to spin drills. I do not buy the new Jacob’s super chucks I try to find new old stock units on eBay.
Nice work.. Question, I can't get the drill chuck of my delta. Any ideas on how to accomplish this with messing things up? I don't have any wedges so that's another question lol. Where can I get some or what else can I use to do the same thing? Thanks. And again, liked the vid and how you restored yours..
Wedges are best they are cheap and work
I got mine on McMaster Carr or Amazon
You can also use heat just need to be careful
Is that Dream Theater?
No it’s not
Great work and I do like the colour, what shade of blue is it?
5365 is the color code
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair Thanks, which colour chart? It almost looks like the blue Myford used on their late cylindrical grinders.
Hi! Can you specifi the color ?
I don’t remember sorry
Really well done, where you based out of?
Thank you. Chicago
I am recently restoring a lathe and I am not happy with the paint that I chose. What type of paint have you been using on your restos?
Automotive paint
so u welded the cast-iron table whit a migwelder...no preheating or anything?
Yep. I preheated, not ideal but at the time I didn’t have a tig, I do now but it worked at the time
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair u hade me worrying there for a bit😆
Lol
Music,video,job.O.K!
Thanks
What is the model of the VFD
genesis by kbc
video would be better if you explained what you were doing, with what, and better camera angles that allowed the viewer to see more detail.
Thanks
How did you mount the column to the drill at 3:01?
With a hole saw of the same dimension as the column and some electrical tape
Did I mis the details on the light at 13:11 ?
No I just installed it of camera. It’s a magnetic quill light from eBay
Can you post the link on eBay?
Music?
Yeah
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair name song?
It's a wonderful work you've done. However, the music is headbanging awful. Had to mute most of the video.
Thanks
i did the same thing on a old drill press take a look to my video
Great
