This movie has everything drama and suspense. A very heartwarming family and longtime friendships. Until a cold chill moves onto the rolling hillside. Unrequited emotions stirs of a forbidden desire rises from beneath. It's like my "life story". Born straight, a heterosexual man from the Islands. Had a bad childhood growing up. Was afraid of saying anything to anyone. Had joined the Navy to get away from home. Kept it buried for 40+ years. Never said nothing to my closest friends or family. It eats away at me everyday. Still have strong feelings for a woman but more so for a man...💔💔💔 Your movie touches on both. It's hard to think looking back in my life. What life would be if I had a choice to love. Coming out is one of the most courageous moments of transformation we can go through - and there is beauty and wonder and a sense of being fully alive in ways unimaginable before because we step into truth. The new courage can carry us forward in all aspects of life because we've been tested by the fire and strengthened. I hope you'll consider sharing with one person - and it doesn't have to be the person you're most scared to tell. Gosh, it took me ages to find this movie again, now I finally did! The chemistry between Charlie and Dan is insane, wish they had more scenes together or even ended up together, but I see the vision for the actual ending! Great movie!
@@Border2BorderEntertainment That's a completely fair question . I cannot see Chase and Nathan as romantic partners, much as Nathan really cared for him. The age difference would be really challenging. I also think it would be hard for Nathan's son to cope with having a peer dating his dad. Having said that, I feel really sorry that they would probably not work together.

Hitting Nathan with the golf ball. Perfect. The kiss in the kitchen at night. The scene on the log. (Saw the extended version. How hard it must have been to cut the dialogue in your big emotional scene, but it's a much stronger choice if he doesn't acknowledge you at all. Made me cry.)

I had to Google when this was made. 2008. I thought it was much older than that . For some reason I thought it was made in the 90s. Just me getting long in the tooth I guess 😀😀
It definitely has a throw back feel to it! We wanted to make a film that explored bisexuality and gay themes and that would also have a high likelihood of being licensed to mainstream TV broadcasters so that these conversations would happen in a broad way within society. We were lucky to license Mulligans to 6 broadcasters in Canada alone - HBO Canada, Hollywood Suite, Sundance Channel, OUTtv, Movie Central and Movie Network. But we knew in order for the story to be more palatable to a larger audience, we would need to show some restraint in some areas in how we told the story.
The awesome thing about sexuality is that it doesn't dictate anything about us - we can choose to be any profession, follow any passion, and wear whatever makes us feel great and respect other people's choices for what makes them feel great!

See, gay feeling is not about who they really are... it's about the things the people around brought to/influenced us as we were growing up, the things missing in us, the thoughts and ideals, that later in adulthood we tends to misconstrued...

I loved this movie and have seen it several times. I have always been sad with the conclusion that Chaz and Nathan could not have a future together. I wonder what would have happened to Chaz.

Yes unfortunately it was removed for language so we’ve made edits to remove those words and reposted. ;) it was confusing for us too for a film that had a 14A rating on television but RUclips has its own set of guidelines that are separate from traditional television ratings.

@ Hey thanks, Charlie for replying. I’ve just watched 4th Man Out …I guess the algorithm is sending me movies with gay themes and romance! Not sure if you happen to know a relative of mine, Phillip J Bartell, film editor. I had to chuckle when Eating Out 5 ‘appeared’ on my feed having watched the Mulligans deleted scenes and bloopers. I’m sure I am not the film’s usual/typical demographic! I was more in to Dear White People once I could even see it here in New Zealand. And more recently, Fellow Travellers and then the moving performances of Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal in All of Us Strangers. I hope you and your immediate family are safe … not sure if you live in LA. I did see the video of yours of the reenactment of the two saints as a living work of art. maybe a person dies suddenly when he finds out that he is gay...then he will not channel the desires of a gay person, but if someone is just pretending...even after 50 years he will definitely come out too...because of the desire from within his heart no one can stop him whoever he is...ordinary and many just because he follows his nature, family, and shame from within himself he does all that...has a wife...marries and has children...but with all that it won't change what's in his heart.....and in the end many things like this happen happened...for me...even though my country doesn't recognize LGBT...but I admit that I'm gay...so I'm happy...even though there are many challenges and obstacles

Artwork photography for posters and promotion is generally done outside of filming days. It's not a normal convention to simply pull screen grabs from shows for promotion and many distributors and broadcasters don't allow it. That's why we do separate photoshoots. Hope that's helpful in answering your question.

In 2024 I d'ont understand do people speakes differently about hetetosexual and homosexual relation ??? What is the most important is love and desire. What else ? And to be happy. That's all.
But they are different because of hostility in some quarters to romantic relationships between men. Navigating the social reality of being a gay couple presents challenges that straight couples don't generally face. What will happen to the mother in law's treatment of Nathan when she finds out what is going on? What will his friends say as he starts coming out? What will Chase's mother say when she finds out he was with Nathan, if that happens?

Chase is a homewrecker.He knew the older guy was married and the dad of his BEST FRIEND but still went with it.The dad was at fault too ofc. It's surprising to see people finding the affair beautiful and romantic . The characters become accepting and forgiving real quick , that's hard to believe.
While I agree with what you said about tearing family apart, I suppose you missed the point and the message of the movie. It’s about love, betrayal, and forgiveness, especially how their family dealt with the affair and the values they possessed. It’s about second chances hence the title of the movie. It’s about falling in love like it’s the first time, meeting someone somewhere down the road but at the wrong time. Exploring sexuality and being true to yourself and having people around accepting and supporting you. Like one character in the movie said, maybe Chase was meant to be there that summer to meet Nathan. I also think why this movie is beautiful to me is bc of the beautiful shots of landscapes as well as the actors who did an excellent job, music, and to all the team behind this movie.
@@IainTheJust I agree with most things you have mentioned. I am not sure at least what Nathan and Chase had was love. Was Chase just a tool in the story for Nathan to explore his sexuality?...it was both the wrong person and wrong time. Cheating destroys relationships. Broken trust is very hard to regain. It's never a mistake ( as Nathan said) ,it's a choice. I have seen many movies/series in which married men have an encounter that questions their sexuality and whether to come out of their closet. I just think it was selfish of both Nathan and Chase involved in the affair to not consider the hurt they are causing to the people who love them. It hurts more when both of them are the people the family know personally and trusted. Idk if they would've come clean if nobody found out. In most cases, people accept but not forgive. Maybe I should suspend my disbelief . If u have read this to the end, thank you for your time and sorry for the long reply.

That's exactly what I struggled with most while writing Mulligans. How to contain this story I wanted to tell into 90 minutes. What was a realistic lead up time to the affair (the time we spend in the 'ordinary world' of the characters) and how much time and conversations we have between characters after the affair to get to a point of resolution. There are actually additional scenes post-affair that were cut from the final film due to length concerns and needing to fit into a normal time frame movie that TV broadcasters would license - ie: 90 minutes at that time. Some of those additional scenes I think originally really helped the journey of characters and audience get to the place of understanding the forgiveness that happens. At any rate, we knew that we couldn't have Chase and Nathan together at the end of the film - as much as many, many people want that to happen - they want them to have a happy ending. We knew that realistically as you point out, it would take a longer time to heal from the betrayal the family felt. Appreciate your thoughts on it!
@@bluepill153 Hi, I appreciate your reply. Yes, cheating isn’t right and never will be and that’s what makes this movie sad and beautiful at the same time. Nathan had a beautiful and loving family, I love them too from Mrs. Davidson to Tyler on how accepting they are and I think their characters are well written and it shows that there are still people who won’t treat you any differently just because they find out you’re gay. They’re there to continue loving and supporting you, fully accepting who you are. That’s one of the reasons why this film is so beautiful. And it’s heartbreaking that Nathan finally found himself in someone, but that same connection became the reason his family fell apart. Yes, it’s selfish, but sometimes we do things we know are wrong because of love. You can see how Nathan acted like a teenager and experienced love as if for the first time. It’s a bittersweet ending-there’s closure, but their relationships as a family and as best friends can never go back to the way they were. Yes, they should have known better, but they’re fortunate because the love they share and receive with their family and best friend are stronger. And that’s what makes this film so special and beautiful.

This movie has everything drama and suspense. A very heartwarming family and longtime friendships. Until a cold chill moves onto the rolling hillside. Unrequited emotions stirs of a forbidden desire rises from beneath. It's like my "life story". Born straight, a heterosexual man from the Islands. Had a bad childhood growing up. Was afraid of saying anything to anyone. Had joined the Navy to get away from home. Kept it buried for 40+ years. Never said nothing to my closest friends or family. It eats away at me everyday. Still have strong feelings for a woman but more so for a man...💔💔💔 Your movie touches on both. It's hard to think looking back in my life. What life would be if I had a choice to love. @@Border2BorderEntertainment That's a completely fair question . I cannot see Chase and Nathan as romantic partners, much as Nathan really cared for him. The age difference would be really challenging. I also think it would be hard for Nathan's son to cope with having a peer dating his dad. Having said that, I feel really sorry that they would probably not work together.

Hitting Nathan with the golf ball. Perfect. The kiss in the kitchen at night. The scene on the log. (Saw the extended version. How hard it must have been to cut the dialogue in your big emotional scene, but it's a much stronger choice if he doesn't acknowledge you at all. Made me cry.)

It definitely has a throw back feel to it! We wanted to make a film that explored bisexuality and gay themes and that would also have a high likelihood of being licensed to mainstream TV broadcasters so that these conversations would happen in a broad way within society. We were lucky to license Mulligans to 6 broadcasters in Canada alone - HBO Canada, Hollywood Suite, Sundance Channel, OUTtv, Movie Central and Movie Network. But we knew in order for the story to be more palatable to a larger audience, we would need to show some restraint in some areas in how we told the story.

I saw this Movie in youtube just a yr ago but its posted again 5 days back? Its really confuse me
Yes unfortunately it was removed for language so we’ve made edits to remove those words and reposted. ;) it was confusing for us too for a film that had a 14A rating on television but RUclips has its own set of guidelines that are separate from traditional television ratings.
Please fix the subtitles it’s delay, other than that thank you for keeping this movie here

But they are different because of hostility in some quarters to romantic relationships between men. Navigating the social reality of being a gay couple presents challenges that straight couples don't generally face. What will happen to the mother in law's treatment of Nathan when she finds out what is going on? What will his friends say as he starts coming out? What will Chase's mother say when she finds out he was with Nathan, if that happens?

@@Border2BorderEntertainment despues lo que sucede es que chase se da cuenta que esta muy enamorado de nathan y lo mismo le sucede a nathan! que gira en su auto y va a buscarlo! se encuentran y se declaran su amor,hay una escena muy sexy haciendo el amor , la familia muy bien el mejor amigo se casa y tienen un niño, la madre no confia mas en los hombres y se hace amiga de la profesora detenis que la corteja y la conquista,con escenas muy sensuales, se enamoran y de a poco nathan y ella comienzan a verse como buenos amigos, la niña ve otro pene y le da un beso a su chico.....cada uno es feliz a su manera
buena pelicula pero se noto la falta de erotismo y quimica entre los dos, ademas cuando el sr casado ve que se va su lover boy tenia que haberlo retenido!

Chase is a homewrecker.He knew the older guy was married and the dad of his BEST FRIEND but still went with it.The dad was at fault too ofc.
It's surprising to see people finding the affair beautiful and romantic . The characters become accepting and forgiving real quick , that's hard to believe.
While I agree with what you said about tearing family apart, I suppose you missed the point and the message of the movie. It’s about love, betrayal, and forgiveness, especially how their family dealt with the affair and the values they possessed. It’s about second chances hence the title of the movie. It’s about falling in love like it’s the first time, meeting someone somewhere down the road but at the wrong time. Exploring sexuality and being true to yourself and having people around accepting and supporting you. Like one character in the movie said, maybe Chase was meant to be there that summer to meet Nathan.
I also think why this movie is beautiful to me is bc of the beautiful shots of landscapes as well as the actors who did an excellent job, music, and to all the team behind this movie.

I am not sure at least what Nathan and Chase had was love. Was Chase just a tool in the story for Nathan to explore his sexuality?...it was both the wrong person and wrong time.
Cheating destroys relationships. Broken trust is very hard to regain. It's never a mistake ( as Nathan said) ,it's a choice. I have seen many movies/series in which married men have an encounter that questions their sexuality and whether to come out of their closet.
I just think it was selfish of both Nathan and Chase involved in the affair to not consider the hurt they are causing to the people who love them. It hurts more when both of them are the people the family know personally and trusted. Idk if they would've come clean if nobody found out.
In most cases, people accept but not forgive. Maybe I should suspend my disbelief . If u have read this to the end, thank you for your time and sorry for the long reply.

That's exactly what I struggled with most while writing Mulligans. How to contain this story I wanted to tell into 90 minutes. What was a realistic lead up time to the affair (the time we spend in the 'ordinary world' of the characters) and how much time and conversations we have between characters after the affair to get to a point of resolution. There are actually additional scenes post-affair that were cut from the final film due to length concerns and needing to fit into a normal time frame movie that TV broadcasters would license - ie: 90 minutes at that time. Some of those additional scenes I think originally really helped the journey of characters and audience get to the place of understanding the forgiveness that happens. At any rate, we knew that we couldn't have Chase and Nathan together at the end of the film - as much as many, many people want that to happen - they want them to have a happy ending. We knew that realistically as you point out, it would take a longer time to heal from the betrayal the family felt.

@@bluepill153 Hi, I appreciate your reply. Yes, cheating isn’t right and never will be and that’s what makes this movie sad and beautiful at the same time. Nathan had a beautiful and loving family, I love them too from Mrs. Davidson to Tyler on how accepting they are and I think their characters are well written and it shows that there are still people who won’t treat you any differently just because they find out you’re gay. They’re there to continue loving and supporting you, fully accepting who you are. That’s one of the reasons why this film is so beautiful.
And it’s heartbreaking that Nathan finally found himself in someone, but that same connection became the reason his family fell apart. Yes, it’s selfish, but sometimes we do things we know are wrong because of love. You can see how Nathan acted like a teenager and experienced love as if for the first time. It’s a bittersweet ending-there’s closure, but their relationships as a family and as best friends can never go back to the way they were.
Yes, they should have known better, but they’re fortunate because the love they share and receive with their family and best friend are stronger. And that’s what makes this film so special and beautiful.
