that's a cool multimatic mustang, it'll appreciate like the multimatic gt did. their engineering and builds are world class.

It is a very sharp car but everyone seems to be always chasing Porsche and it has twice the hp as a Porsche. If you look at the 911 it's basically stayed the same over the years but has just gotten faster with a 6 cylinder. I gotta give it to Ford but the PDK transmission is one of the best in the world. Plus the Porsche 911s turbo has AWD and they are adding electric motors. So it should be interesting how these 2 cars will compete with each other.

I would love to see a comparison test between the GT3 RS and this Mustang GTD. It would be interesting to see who comes out on top regarding performance, driver involvement, and appointments.

Ford continues to chase and fall behind Chevy. Chevy continues to chase and inch closer to Porsche especially with the tbr new ZR1. If all it toke was massive hp numbers to make a great car then Dodge would lead the way. Yet Porsche has proven it can do more with modest hp properly balanced and insanely tuned vehicle that no American car can....when the ZR1 is released into the wild that may change.

Porsche has always underrated their cars. There is no magic or voodoo with their performance. Same for BMW. Look it up then we can talk.

    I'll "settle" for a GT350

Excellent point! The GT350 from around 2019 is a fantastic sports car. The flat plane crank NA V8 is a high-revving classic. And the chassis and handling is awesome.

I sure hope that wing is removable. This car would make Aston Martins jealous of its looks without the wing.

You ask an interesting question - "is it worth $300k?" I see two different perspectives:
For some, it will be. You take a $80-90k car, and add 200k+ in upgrades, and .... it may come close (who knows?). This is obviously far more than just enormous brakes and a trick suspension. But, is it worth it?
The other aspect says that $300k is about where you'll be with the Porsche track star. Highly refined but brutal track monster. It's highly likely that the Porsche will be built better, have better materials on the inside, and won't likely be misrecognized for your kid's Mustang.
$300k is also a starting point for some Ferraris and other brands. But, can you get a factory built race-ready & street legal track car from Ferrari for $300k? Not likely (that's good GT money, but not track money).
I've owned a Mustang - many, many years ago. I now own a Porsche. But, I'm getting up there in age, so *I* am not looking for a track star, as I'll likely put it into a fence, and my back won't be able to take that solid suspension. If I was spending that kind of cash, I'd likely go for either a GT-class Ferrari, or a 911 S/T.

      You make excellent points here.
I agree, the Porsche is likely built better with better materials inside (the GTD on the stand was locked with black tinted windows so no peek inside).
And you are so right, "worth it" is very subjective. As you cite, not everyone is looking for the ultimate track weapon. A GT-class vehicle in this price range will be more user-friendly on the street and still provide thrills. I love the concept of the 911 S/T. That is one of my dream cars. It has the GT3 RS engine, manual transmission and, a street-tuned performance suspension.
I still remain impressed that Ford would build a gas-powered halo performance car in this day and age of electrification. A supercharged V8 engine producing 800 hp on a chassis meant for those who love track driving? That is a rare combination from a mainstream auto manufacturer. As a performance car enthusiast, I applaud Ford for even making this product. But you are so right, answering the question, 'is it worth it,' is another matter.

@Joe Hutchinson Considering the Ford GT supercar that sold for $500,000 and after two years is selling at auctions for 1 million plus tells me that this car is Worth the investment. The problem is waiting for Ford's approval to purchase one it's like the Ford GT supercar with carbon fiber and Aluminum wide body panel mustang that uses Multimatic State of the art Active aero and suspension not yet used by IMSA, WEC or any other racing series.

I love the gt2 and gt3 but you can’t pretend like this car it’s t going to be competitive against it. With what we know so far the mustang will have the power advantage and plenty of downforce. It’ll easily fit into the same class as the gt2 and gt3rs
