The “puck” looks kind of like how a “Popsocket” sits on the back of a phone. An original “Popsocket”-like design doesn’t seem practical for a picking case, but there might be some modified versions that could be interesting to adapt… like a folding stand. I would bet that people will also design some 3D printed pucks for personalization… like, instead of a patch, you could buy or print a puck with whatever design someone wants on it… for totally or mostly aesthetic purposes. Maybe a hook puck? (Like for use on a fence when picking love locks). Who knows? Maybe I am looking at this “puck” concept the wrong way… maybe it will have completely different purposes… Maybe it is going to be used to add two cases together to form a 4 section case (1x Tensioner tray + 3x Pick trays - for a total of 15 picks). LPL - Just a gentle reminder that 1 in 12 males are red-green color impaired. So when choosing your pick handle colors, please try to follow widely published guidelines on choosing reds and greens that are easier for us to see. FWIW - the 'green' ones you showed just looked light gray to me.
Using a color picker on the video, they *are* light grey with a little less blue - so it's more "green as in camo" rather than "green as a color code".
I'm not colorblind, and I can confirm that the pick handles are a beige green. I don't think your description of them being "light gray" is wrong. I would lean more towards green-grey, beige-gray, green-brown, etc but that's subjective. They're certainly not green like grass or limes.
For color blindness, the perceived colors would be black, medium grey, light grey. However, depending on the severity of your visual challenge, simply use a sharpie that you can readily see and mark them so you can set them apart. Problem solved. The whole world does not revolve around 1 difficulty.
@ Most of the 1 in 12 are not 'color blind' as in monochromatic only. That's why I said 'impaired', not 'blind'. We have reduced sensitivity to reds and greens, so light reds and greens look more like gray. And most of the world does attempt to accommodate people with difficulties all the time - especially businesses trying to attract customers in cases like this when the target audience is very likely predominantly male.
I have never picked a lock, had a desire to pick a lock, and certainly never felt the need for any lock picking tools. Despite that, I still watch all of the Lock Picking Lawyers videos because I find it fascinating. Seeing this video, I knew immediately that this was a new line of lock picks that I absolutely will never buy and never need. And yet, I watched this entire video anyway.
I’ve noticed lately a resurgence of 3d printed lock picks . Not just handles but the business ends as well. With the cutting edge engineering filaments that are available it’s easy to see why. The set I saw yesterday , looked like basic hook and rake profiles but printed out of high temp PPS-CF filament. This material actually feels and sounds like metal. I’m was hoping you’ve tested or plan to test this next generation of home brew entry tools. But don’t get me wrong, they are bush league when compared to these beautiful tools.
Dammit. Love your work, of course, but still (if they are still available!) my best pics ever came from "Peterson". Still have a bunch of theirs, which "just bloody work".
If the handle really is made of fiber reinforced nylon, I think a notification that, if the coating is damaged or the tool broke, hazardous fibers which may cause skin irritations will be released upon touching the broken area. This is a common issue with fiber reinforced 3d printing filaments and only now gets more attention.
I have never picked a lock in my life. I have shot them open, pried them open, cut them open, and used explosives once or twice. I do not know how to pick but love these videos. I feel like I should buy these, but I know I'd never use them. I'm already a licensed ham radio operator, own multiple motorcycles, have a full-time job, a daughter, and I do all kinds of tech things. I literally have $10,000 servers in my home. Still, these are NICE...
The trays should be labeled on the edge so you don't have to pop each one to find the one you want. I assume they snap together face-to-face as well, like the rubber strap demo, so you can make one of them a lid when you have a big stack.
They stack like plastic utility boxes, one way with the front/opening bigger than the back/base it goes around. The rubber strap is what's holding the pair together when they're face-to-face. It wraps around the lip that surrounds the front/open side, in order to close. I don't think that strap would work with more than two, as-is. A lid for the front sounds good, but it would have to be almost as thick as the boxes, in order to be easily opened but not fall open. Don't be surprised if more options are on the way, though.
I'm I the only person looking at all the bits above the Covert Instruments logos, where there is a pair of round holes in the handle exposing a pair of smaller round metal holes and imagining a line of LockPickingSolders all staring at me?
Nice. I just got my first cheap set last week. I'm getting the hang of it. Guess I should consider this set. Although I've been eyeing the gravpick because I just like the fidgeting factor that comes with it. Decisions, decisions 😂😂
Very nice tools and very nice cases in which to carry them. I think you said the picks were made of 301 SS. The 300 series of stainless steel is austenitic and normally not magnetic. Or was there something special done to them to make them suitably magnetic? Did you mean to 401 SS ? The 400 series of stainless steel is ferritic and normally magnetic.
These look amazing and hopefully someday I'll be able to justify picking them up. In the meantime, my practice sessions often end early because of strain. I'm a big guy with big hands and they cramp easily because the handles are too small. Unless you have something I missed or can come up with it, I'll have to fab a bigger slip on handle to see if that makes it easier for me.
You should release the cad files or geometries for that hole in the back of the case so that us with 3D printers can print custom holders for the cases
I'm not LPL, but I'm happy to suggest or answer the question. If you're interested in these particular picks, then yes, begin with the Evo 1 -- the basic five picks. They are .0025" and sturdy, good for beginners as you learn to control your urges to "bitch pick" aggressively. If you're confident and have the money, get the Evo 2 as well. HOWEVER, if you're ADHD and therefore prone to dropping newfound hobbies, perhaps opt for less of an investment, but all of the power. The FNG kit at $10 is a great deal, with a couple basic picks and a clear practice lock to get started. If you're more confident, get Genesis set: a great standard at $28, or grab the Learn Lockpicking Bundle for $65 that includes the Genesis set plus throws in a nice repinnable practice lock.

I have a Genesis set, and men, i've used it quite some times. This new set looks comfortable, I want one.
get grips from 44delta for your genesis
I’ve noticed lately a resurgence of 3d printed lock picks . Not just handles but the business ends as well. With the cutting edge engineering filaments that are available it’s easy to see why.
The set I saw yesterday , looked like basic hook and rake profiles but printed out of high temp PPS-CF filament. This material actually feels and sounds like metal. I’m was hoping you’ve tested or plan to test this next generation of home brew entry tools. But don’t get me wrong, they are bush league when compared to these beautiful tools.
This looks like it solves my complaint with the genesis set, which was I didn't like the thin metal handles.
I notice none of the cases have a lock on them
I have never picked a lock in my life.
Looks like you have yourself a well set of tools. And have a nice day as well.
LPL spent more time presenting these picks than it takes for him to open several locks. 😂
1:00 - "...would take an act of violence to break."
Sounds like a future video, LPL.
Wow, very nice product design. Hope this will be a success 🙏♥️
Seems to be super quality picks i'd just like that they do a special turning tools case that can include the southpaw turner for lefty pickers
Very nice looking set 👌.
The real trick is finding them when they're not sold out.
You should release the cad files or geometries for that hole in the back of the case so that us with 3D printers can print custom holders for the cases
just picked up a tubular pick, worked amazing and I bent the tension bar like an idiot and it had 5 replacement bars :D
I thought the lockbox I lost the key to opened to the right, but it did not xd
That's some peak product design
Which ones would you recommend to someone just starting out? I love your videos and it looks like a hobby to play with
I'm not LPL, but I'm happy to suggest or answer the question.
@@douglasbrandt4068 Thank you for the reply. I am just a retired guy that needs things to challenge myself. I don't mind buying quality tools if I know what they are. I will check out the items you described. I think a clear practice lock would be a logical first step. Thanks again and stay safe.
I don't even pick locks, just always loved your vids but will be happy to pick some of these up to support. *cheers*
the 2 dots on the handle look like googly eyes
I love seeing people still asking for the carrot ever since that video about picking with one. 😂 Love this community.
You mentioned the fidget factor, when shipped are they wrapped in bubble wrap as a bonus fidget factor?😇
They look to be a step up from the the great Petersons picks and I can't wait to get mine set!
Now we just need a video of you opening a master lock with the case itself
Would be nice to be able to snap one of these grips onto existing CI lockpicks.
They look dope sir!!! Hope to snag some.
Ahhhhhh I just ordered an echelon set and 3 other bundles last week 😭 I was looking for a set like this with ergo handles from yall but looks I was one week behind
Looks like I’ll have some options for when I reach intermediate level lol
