      Haha, it wasn't so far from the truth though. I did duplicate one of the earlier gate grooves to cut the extra grooves out.

    The RPM Range is green for low, or safe... yellow for higher but still safe, red for about to reach the rev limiter... typically flashing red is rev limiter. You want to shift before flashing red.

    6th gear is near enough useless in a normal rally stage. The shift lights are an indication on when you're redlining the car (Reaching the limits of the rpms) and a recommendation to change gear. However, because its a rally car, you dont really need to pay attention, you want to stay in a good rev range, green to yellow, downshift when you drop out of green, and upshift when you move into orange.

    Dude, You're awesome. Beyond the intelligent designs you've constructed, Your videos has a soft humor. Here. Thank you for sharing knowledge.
    I have a problem to solve regarding SIM RACES..
    I have a cockpit support, a Logitech g29 and I pay in a PS4.
    The problem is that I need a handbrake for playing really games such as dirt rally. However, in PS4 I don't have a cheap option.. I see a lot of DYI videos using the joystick to activate, but none has a soft solution that doesn't female de joystick as you have done.
    I need a 3d printed handbrake that activates pressing any button or the joystick and that can be fixed in the cockpit support or table..
    Please help us PS4 dirt rally player games..
    Have a nice day

      thanks!
      I believe you can’t use multiple controllers to control a single player game on the PS4, right? In that case it sounds pretty difficult.

    You should try the air link via wifi, or using a program such as virtual desktop (20 usd), it does require a good wifi connection, but it's much more stable and it doesn't disconnect.
    Thank you for this project, I was searching for this to upgrade my driving setup.

    Very smart design, but not a clear instructions. I watched the video 100 times, just to figure out, where the second rubber connects. And there are a bunch of holes in the body, I do not know what is the purpose of those.
    I still need to wait on the switches to arrive on mail, but over all, mechanically it is working perfectly

    @Akaki Kuumeri is it possible to modify the arduino programming and thus remove the potentiometer and make the handbrake with a microswitch? so it can be used on arduino nano boards.

    • @AkakiKuumeri

      Sure, should not be hard. But you still can’t use it with a Nano because the Nano can’t emulate a gamepad

    Why not set up a table... ie: Add up the values like chmod and access a table... a big if / else if tree can be just as slow as a for loop of known length. But if you have the table, then it is just more overhead ( memory in use ) and direct access. Less code too - just more setup data. Should respond faster too.

      There is a hole for a screw near the far end of the right hand wall. You must put a bolt in that hole and extend a rubber band from there to the dent in the rachet piece. You can see the rubber band ready at 3:38

    The fifth and six gears are cruising speed and first gear is a starting speed you only us first if going from a stop sign and such, 2 and 3 and 4 are like for going faster and you don’t look at the light to switch gears it’s in the revs so if it’s a high rev you go to a higher gear and so on but if your in 6th gear and wanna go faster drop down to 5th or even 4 to go faster

    • @madmax2069
      @madmax2069 4 года назад +1

      In a race car, you do use the lights to know when you're at the optimum RPM to go to the next gear to remain in the engines power band.
      Shift too early and you will be out of the engines power band and won't have the acceleration you would if you stay in the engines power band.
      While you don't look directly at the lights, you can still see them (vs the tach) in your peripheral vision as to not take your eyes away from the track but still be able to see the shift lights which is why they're used.

    • @robzu1010
      @robzu1010 4 года назад +1

      Also, in racecars 5th and 6th are not cruising speeds, as they use all of the gears available to have optimal acceleration for any given speed (not to mention they don't need cruising speeds). Lastly, when you're driving a racecar, sometimes you do indeed have to drop down to 1st gear, because you're always looking for the gear with the best acceleration. This is especially true in rallying, when you're driving through a hairpin for example.
