This is an amazing guide Tim. I was wondering if you’d ever do a tutorial on creating planets at all? I would love to learn what Houdini could do there
@@TimvanHelsdingen a view of planet earth from far away, or maybe like Jupiter. I’m actually curious now, could Houdini make rings like that of Saturn?
At 6:00 you can use quadrilateral grid option within the polyfill node with deform patch and smooth options unchecked or you can use divide node, check bricker polygons and set the size to 0.5 * radius of the patch
quadrilateral grid gave straight lines, divide will create triangles. Bricker will create ngons. I'm sure there's a way to automate this but this was a daily render for mardini challenge and just doing it manually was faster then trying to get it to do it automatically.
@@TimvanHelsdingen i've tested it on the same tube geo with 12 columns and both worked. bricker is not always reliable, but on 12 columns it works really well. you gotta uncheck maximum edges option. then it doesn't create triangle nor ngons in this case. for some reason polyfill gave me the same mesh you created manually
I do the same thing you did in COPS but .... nothing happens. I extract emission pass and try to apply redshift postfx bloom on it but nothing. but when I connect entire source exr layer to redshift postfx bloom it works... what's going on, do you have any idea why? and I ofc can't find any info on the internet about it
HELP TIM. I set a geometry light in karma, and in the karma preview I see it affecting my volumes . When I go to render though, it's like it's turned off. I only see my object with the material and the emission, but nothing of the geometry light that affects the volume. What can this be due to? Thanks
A huge thanks from a beginner learner of Houdini.
Beautiful work ! ✨

thanks faber! when you say planet, you mean like a view from planet earth from far away or something else?..

Amazing ! Many thanks Tim
hope you learn some new things from it Djalili!
