“I enjoy teetering on different genres,” says Casey Luong, the Houston native better known as keshi. In the last year, the guitarist/singer/producer’s amalgamation of delicate alt-pop and neo-R&B has exploded in popularity. Half a mil followers on the Gram. A slew of tracks with 9-digit numbers on Spotify. But all of it almost never happened. When the duties of adulthood called after college, the John Mayer die-hard answered and took a position as a nurse at a nearby hospital. As time went by, that passion to create music proved to be an inoperable condition. Inspired at the time by the lo-fi hip-hop subculture, keshi started producing in his bedroom during off-time. Tracks trickled onto streaming platforms. “Most of my contemporaries were shocked that I had a day job,” he says. Eventually, after a bad day at work, nurse Luong resigned and the rest is keshi history. While a proper album remains in the works, 3 EPs and plenty of singles populate an already impressive CV. Try “more,” for instance. The recorded version leans on a drum break and acoustic guitar loop. In this DSCVR at Home sesh, keshi sets the mood with a verbed-out electric guitar and dreamy vocals. Medicine for the soul.

I discovered keshi recently, and I haven't been able to stop listening to his heavenly vocals and amazing compositions, the lyrics, the sentiment, everything he does feels really warm, I hope he is truly able to experience love in its higher form and continue to share his talent with us

It's crazy because a lot of latin/urban "hits" have similar chord progressions (SinBandera, Sebastian Yatra, I'm not a specialist, in fact I avoid such music lol), but Kenshi's blessed voice brings SOUL to the mix, and the depth of the lyrics is also above what is done here in latam.
