Thank you. How do you stay legal using Canva templates and elements?

You're welcome! I'm no lawyer, so I recommend reading this page on Canva's website for the lowdown on what you can and cannot do with graphics and elements you find in Canva: www.canva.com/help/article/licenses-copyright-legal-commercial-use/
Just to note, the biggest issue I see is folks using an element set they find on Canva and because it is "free" they assume they can resell it as say, stickers on Etsy. This is a big no, you can NOT resell any content as is and claim it as your own.
You CAN use elements found on Canva and in templates in your own branding however! You just would never be able to trademark a logo that uses elements you found in Canva, because someone else might also be using that, and it isn't created specifically for you.
You could create a logo using basic shapes, like lines, squares, circles, and trademark that, since the design itself is original.
You also CAN absolutely USE a logo in Canva that you purchased on Etsy or somewhere else, or even one that comes with Canva legally, you just must be aware someone else might have a similar logo. If you're just starting out and just need something, I still think that's just fine and the way to go! You can pay a designer later on to create something totally unique if you grow to a point where you want to trademark. Just make sure the designer you hire is actually doing original work! ;)
