Jermell Charlo vs Trout FULL FIGHT: June 9, 2018 | PBC on Showtime

- Undefeated super welterweight World Champion Jermell Charlo successfully defends his WBC belt with a majority decision win against former titleholder Austin Trout.
Charlo outmuscled Austin Trout to the tune of a 12-round majority decision in the co-featured bout on the Leo Santa Cruz-Abner Mares fight. Charlo retained his WBC 154-pound title with the win on scorecards 118-108, 115-111, and a garbage 113-113 score from judge Fernando Villarreal (who had also inexplicably scored McWilliams Arroyo-Carlos Cuadras a draw).
The fight opened with some heavy boos as both fighters looked to establish their offense. Charlo was able to earn the nod in the first two rounds with spurts of effective aggression. He landed lead rights and then Trout would tie him up, keeping him from landing follow-ups.
The fight picked up in the third round as Charlo landed a right hand that hurt Trout, and a follow-up didn't land cleanly but resulted in Trout being put on the canvas. Referee Jack Reiss ruled it a knockdown, and Trout was in a big hole early on.
Jermell just seemed to be too strong for Trout, using that strength on the inside to push Trout out of a clinch and land big shots that bothered Trout. Charlo bullied Trout in the fourth and fifth rounds, landing big right hands out of a clinch.
Trout had a bit of a renaissance in the sixth round, landed a couple flashy combinations that may have edged him the round. Charlo got a little frustrated in the seventh by Trout's veteran tactics, another close round.
The ninth round saw Trout visiting the canvas in the opening seconds, turning the fight back in Charlo's favor with one punch. Trout seemed okay but weary of Charlo's power.
Trout had a good showing in the 10th round, tagging Charlo with a four-punch combination before taking a Charlo punch with Trout between the ropes. Reiss warned Charlo for the foul and it seemed to stall Trout's offense.
The pace slowed in the championship rounds with Charlo doing slightly better work. Somehow he walked away only with a majority decision despite scoring two knockdowns.

No, Ray Flores, it was behind the EAR. Not Jermell's best performance. The few times Charlo used a jab he had success. Why he doesn't jab more is baffling.

A full replay just 2.5 months after the fight? That'd be unusual. They usual do the replays in the build up to the next fight, and that is exactly what they did. It was very good
115-112 Charlo. Close fight! I'm actually not mad at the 113-113 some of these rounds were razor thin. Charlo would start off strong and let off the action, that aloud trout to get back in the fight. I'd say "let's see a rematch" but I think Charlo has improved far beyond this level.

Its crazy a majority decision.. Its unanimous decision for Charlo. Trout might take 3 or 4 rounds tops Charlo had the 20-8 both and dominated the whole fight..

Charlo is definitely a b fighter. As much as tried to look for something special I just can’t see it. Easy work for canelo. Charlo best chance is to exchange blows with canelo toe to toe fight.

Maybe not ) But not scored a knockdown and which those two incidents caused Trouts momentum to fade till the last a bit he regained it , I wrote earlier and just finished watching it, Did before but not alone as I was with people and mucho brewski’s , Still watched but not alone as I prefer , Boo ‘s but a chess match with power mixed in , That’s Staples back then , As I was raised in that area and remember well.

I agree and believe Canelo will win as well. Jermell is a good fighter but an emotional one none the less. Not only will he need to be 💯 physically but his mental state will need to be equally as such. The counter to this short is the pressure, power, and defense Canelo possesses. Mell had a very difficult time with Castano’s constant pressure in their first meet. Now times that pressure by ten and add power, IQ, and defense. Canelo is also at ease banging in the pocket. How come when Trout got hit with an illegal back of the head punch in a fight he’s in that the referee and the commentators don’t help by supporting that call? In reality a point deducted from Charlo and 3 minutes if ya need it ? I had a dad that won in the north west corner in Golden Gloves and got to box as an all around athlete that never put all my marbles in one arena , But know boxing and when a man or woman trains their ass off and loses what they know they won it sucks the motivation outa ya if ya have to fight everyone in the circle, Imagine if you had after the fight 5 people that judged from above and one from each side which is five right ? And they didn’t move to the next round till they have all agreed and supported their points by highlighting each round, May of stepped on what I am trying to say but I hope at least one here’s me, That would eliminate the guy that loads up and looks flashy throwing bombs and every blocked punch is known as slow motion on each round being dissected , Need to come out of the dark ages on this , A persons livelihood and motivation are at stake , They then have let’s say 24 hours to overturn a decision that’s disputed or just do it anyway ? Dispute or not , Hope I didn’t blow it on making a point that I think that takes no time compared to what’s taken right ??? I like both these fighters and support them and hey Austin came in with more knockouts than Charlo ? I can guarantee you that most of those PPV buys for Paulina, more than 80% came from 10-year-olds watching the "fight".
Paulina sold more PPVs, but Canelo generated much much more revenue.
