- Friday is the warmest day we have left before the arctic cold front arrives Saturday morning, and next week holds the possibility of a winter storm followed by a hard, pipe-burstin
Make sure to drip your faucets to prevent ice from building up and busting pipes. I drip them with the hot water handles also engaged to move water into and out of the water heater. Cover your outdoor spigots/taps with insulated covers from Lowe's and Home Depot but if they are out, you can run those taps too. On my first freeze, I didn't have any of those purpose-made insulated covers so I just dripped my outdoor taps but found that even the drip speed which was like 1 drip every 2 seconds wasn't enough. Had to get a kerosene lantern to heat it up and remove the ice in the tap and had to let it almost do a constant/faster drip.
or you can just shut your water off if you can
@@jwvideos7011 That too but I would only do that if i needed to leave my home for a certain amount of time. Really irritating if you can stay at home, need to use the bathroom, flush and then no water refills.
I'm extremely scared if losing power during life threatening cold
What does TGF mean?

How to deal with under ground sprinkler systems?
You are the best!!!!
Max velocity has better information not being hidden by the local news. Prepare for lower temps than what these guys claim
@JacobBitner 🤔
@@JacobBitner they have to play it conservative this far out. Travis Herzlg already said lows can get into the teens. Forecasting is more nuance than just looking at computer model data.
We use to love hearing snow coming & now we weather watch.just hope we keep power
There are battery solutions out there that are cheaper now that could protect your home for at least the first 24-48 hours (or longer if you conserve energy well), they can plug right into the generator inlets if you have one. If you add solar panels it can keep you going longer, too (and you can take advantage of the 30% tax credit on the batteries & solar because you got solar with them). Or, combine the batteries with a small generator that you can use to charge the batteries up, so you're not constantly running a smelly and noisy generator for the whole house. The batteries are nice cause they can stay plugged into the house, charge from the grid before a storm, then act as like a UPS for your whole home, where the lights may flicker but not actually go out, and you'll be notified that you lost power and how long the battery will last, usually through an app on your phone. And you can disconnect circuits to conserve energy as needed. Might be worth looking into for some peace of mind, especially if you or a relative rely on that power. We got some home-mounted batteries installed after beryl along with our solar and it's been nice having that peace of mind during storms. Some newer batteries don't require solar and are fully modular as well, where you can start small and add as you need more, or roll it with you somewhere else like camping or for powering shop tools and stuff like that
woo hoo I will be building a snow man !
Do you think the schools will be closed?
Most likely
Either way we going to get snow ❄️
