I feel like Illumination should’ve brought back Vector for this film. It’s weird how the film revolves around Gru and gang going into hiding because a past villain is after them yet this “past villain” is a completely new character. It just feels like this role was originally written for Vector
You never know, maybe They are keeping him a secret, like Doc Ock in Spider-Man ITSV.

Something I find weird is the amount of inconsistencies already in the trailer.
1. Dru is nowhere to be found.
2. The gorls didn’t age even a bit despite Gru being able to adopt kids, get married, and have a kid already.
3. If Gru’s first name is Felonious then Gru Juniors name makes absolutely no sense.
I worried that Dru might not appear and will be forgotten about I hope not

I’ve been saying for the longest that if they ever made another Despicable me the villain should have been Vector’s dad. Out of all the villains that guy seemed to be the most threatening even a little bit. And he would’ve been perfect for this movies plot about a past villain coming for Revenge. From the first movie it’s clear that despite the way he acted he loved his son, so you’d think he would want revenge on Gru and his family after they SENT HIS SON TO SPACE!! You might even be able to get a parallel between Gru and the dad and the relationships that they have with their sons. Idk it just feels like a missed opportunity to make this new villain someone we’ve never met.

Despicable Me 1 was crazy good for what illumination is now. It’s almost like it was made by an entirely different studio to be used as reference for modern illumination.
The style is so different that it feels like anything after 1 is set in another universe.
That said, you’re right Illumination has been getting better at their craft and Mario movie deserved that success

Honestly my biggest issue is probably the villain. Despicable Me villains are carried by their theming, you’ve got funny nerd man, funny orange colour filter country man, funny 80s South Park man, but this new one is… bugs? Maybe? The villains are pretty consistently memorable, but this new one looks really forgettable so far.

Unless they plan to have them be suprise villains, I feel like they really should have brought Vector and Director Perkins of The Bank of Evil back as antagonists
For a story so focused on a villain reforming and becoming a family man, we see suprisingly little of the criminal underground he used to be a part of.
Plus, you'd think Gru would face more real consequences for leaving the villain world, especially given how many trade secrets he knows.
I'm half convinced that the people at Illumination are kind of getting sick of doing Despicable Me stuff.

Looks like Dru is not gonna have much to do with the whole plot of the movie. So my guess is maybe at the start of the movie we get a catch up scene to tell us what Gru has been up to since DM3 and so maybe they have a little fight scene or something and then maybe turns up again in the final battle with Maxine to help Gru idk I just hope he isn’t ditched and has at least some involvement in the movie
Dru’s story was told in despicable me 3, I wasn’t expecting him to have a big roll in it again.
10:25 The 1st poster is ovbiously fake; Gru Jr. doesn’t have the big nose in the final product, and said nose looks photoshopped, and they forgot to remove the background from in-between the left minion’s hairs.
The 2nd poster is just a standard promo image for the series in general.

How would they even go from there? 3 had the dragons ALL leave to HTW. Would it instead be a movie of the shitty dragons nine realms series? Would it be Hiccup and Astrid’s eldest leaving to find THW or the dragons leaving THW for some reason or other, making the gang who were around their 20’s very early 30’s apparently according to the wikki at the end of the movie now have to continue dragon riding because of some larger threat? While I’m all for new HTTYD content, this is my childhood series and I will happily be that 18yo with her boyfriend and friends in the theater watching the 2025 live action, I just don’t know where a 4th movie would even go
It was confirmed that the third movie is the last. Also, I think the developers were getting sick of the show which is why httyd 3 was rushed.

The vending machine joke was actually funny, I hope Illumination learned after the success of the Mario movie that they don't need dry humor to make money or be entertaining. This has a bad trait of other failed animated franchises like the over blown celebrity cast and adding characters.

If Vector truly is back on Earth and wants revenge, what if Despicable Me 5 (because we all know that’s gonna happen) will focus on the Girls after being put in the background these past few movies?
Vector would clearly want revenge on Gru, and he was also duped by the Girls in the first movie as well. Maybe they hear about Vector’s return or overhear his plans and try to preemptively strike back with the Minions’ help? We could even see the return of Vector’s dad as an antagonist!
Or begin a TV Series on Peacock or something. That’d help the cast bloat, but removes the mass revenue movies give. Hmm…
They should listen to the fans, people want the old villians again. Whenever they make the final despicable me, it should be despicable me 5, and have vector return from mars, having become emperor of the martians or something. Or maybe a time travel plot to somehow bring back all the old villians
In my opinion, these films deliver what they say on the tin. They're silly, fun films and they're at a consistent quality.

I really do think that the collab between Nintendo and Illumination really changed both of them for the better. In Illumination you can see it in the better looking graphics and style, and in Nintendo you can see it in the sheer increase of animated cutscenes and more expressive animations!

I don't know if Illumination has gotten better. They still are not really putting a lot of effort into their work and get away with that. It's really just a business scheme to make movies for as cheap as possible by exploiting animators offshore and not putting any money into development or writing. And they aren't even hiding that. But audiences love to reward them for that somehow. I don't get it.
It's because they aren't putting "messages" into their films. Families see them has a safe option for their children, unlike Disney. We'll see what happens with inside out 2

Fun Fact: Dantible Povenmire, co-creator of Phineas and Ferb and series creator of Hamster and Gretel, is the man behind the original concept of the Minions, and though he has personally requested not to be mentioned in the credits due to being upset that Disney didn't take his pitch for them, he has had a part in the making of every movie where the Minions have been involved.
I personally am pumped for this movie! Despicable Me is my favorite movie and I enjoyed the other 2 so I'm super excited for this new one!

I feel like the best thing that could've been done would have been to have Vector, El Macho, and Bratt all join up and go against Gru. All three villains have been pretty fun to see Gru go against and a triple threat on the 4th film would've been awesome. Maybe even have Vector's dad be the one who leads the team on and helps them get their gadgets. They could've actually brought it in a fun direction but this just looks bland. Even the animation looks worse than DM 3...

i’m kinda surprised people don’t enjoy these films along with the minions as much, when i was 13 i saw despicable me as a goofy film, not exactly my flow but it was a good movie tbh, same with the rest but obviously as i grew up i didn’t willingly watch em, mainly did with my sister, still silly enjoyable fun.
