Liverpool team who had an off year/season and the rest of the time are usually title contenders domestically and in Europe isn’t really a fair comparison. Liverpool were always gonna be better this season as last year they underachieved whereas Newcastle overachieved.

@@Sh23-hv7sn Maybe everyone’s expectations of Newcastle were different before the season. The way I saw it was that it a team who overachieved last season, still have championship quality players, and also many more games to deal with. On top of that with the injuries they’ve had 10th in the league doesn’t seem so bad. I reckon they’ll still end up finishing top 6

I'm all for stats, but having the best stats doesn't always guarantee that you win a game. Quoting only possession and shots stats after a game to claim a "total demolition" is poor punditry and a poor argument.
City dominate games against pretty much every team, but sometimes they lose.
Applying the same logic, based on using possession and shot stats, would mean that you would have to say that city demolished teams even when city lose.
The fair neutral analysis of that game would be; The better team won, but needed the substitutions to win the game as they couldn't break down Newcastle in the second half.

I feel like Lewis always backs Newcastle whenever they show some success but as soon as it starts going downhill it’s a squad depth problem or he’s never said his team was good. He literally was saying Newcastle was better than City but since they lost he’s never claimed those sentences ever according to him and blames everyone else for telling him what he said originally. He’s stupid.
