Talk about "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"...what a classic WWOT video!! Check out that opener, with a beautiful shot of CN power leading NS 15M...love the engineer silhouette in the cab. "Eye 165" motoring with a "capital M", Jack!! Awesome chase of NS 315..."reverse direction" along Progress Rd from the "driver side"...beautiful finish with the unmistakable New York sky in the background. Wait a minute..."stop the presses"...look at that Triple Crown @24:51 tucked behind the "DPU Alright" on "Eye-Oh Seventeen". 👍👍👏👏

0:25 We are at the Norfolk Southern tracks at the Lake Road crossing in Pomfret, New York on 24 February 2023. We are looking east at Norfolk Southern train #15M which is powered by a Canadian National engine and two Norfolk Southern engines. AT 0:56 Norfolk Southern train #15M starts across Lake Road. At 1;56 Norfolk Southern train #15M passes Lake Road. You follow Norfolk Southern train #15M as it continues west past the Norfolk Southern Milepost 46.9 signal. At 2:46 Norfolk Southern train #15M passes the Martin/Willow Road crossing which is about one mile west of Lake Road.
2:59 We start to walk north on Lake Road toward the CSX tracks to see if any CSX trains are coming. At 3:37 we looked east along the CSX tracks, and we saw no trains coming. At 3:42 we looked west on the CSX tracks and saw that there were no trains coming from that direction. At 3:56 you zoom in on the CSX Milepost 47 signals which are all red. In the background we see the I-90, New York State Thruway, bridge over both the CSX and Norfolk Southern tracks. At 4:11 you start to zoom back to a normal view and then you turn back east along the CSX tracks. At 4:20 you start to east along the CSX tracks to see if we can see the signals at CSX Control Point 42 which is about four miles east on Lake Road. It is too hazy, and we are unable to see the CSX Control Point 42 signals.
4:39 We are at the east end of the CSX elevated tracks that go through Dunkirk, New York. WE are standing on West Third Street close to Robin Street and the pedestrian subway under the CSX tracks. CES train #I166 is making an appearance to our left on 24 February 2023. CSX train #I166 is the daily Canadian Pacific run through double stack train that originates at the Canadian Pacific’s Schiller Park Intermodal Yard in Schiller Park, Illinois. The train makes a stop at the CSX’s North Baltimore, Ohio Intermodal Yard where it works the yard. After working at the CSX Intermodal Yard in North Baltimore, Ohio, CSX train #I166 makes its way to the CSX’s Seneca Yard in Buffalo, New York. At the Seneca Yard, the CSX crew exists the train and a Canadian Pacific crew takes over the train. At that point the train becomes Canadian Pacific train #132. Canadian Pacific train #132 proceeds to Niagara Falls, New York where it crosses the Niagara River into Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The train then proceeds to its termination in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. At 5:13 a mid-train DPU appears. At 5:48 CSX train #I166 passes our location. You zoom in on the end of the train as it continues to Buffalo, New York.
6:08 We are still along West Third Street near Robin Street on 24 February 2023. We are looking east at the next CSX train to appear. We see that this is CSX train #I165. CSX train #I165 is the daily westbound Canadian Pacific double stack train. CSX train #I165 starts of in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as Canadian Pacific train #133 and terminates at the Canadian Pacific’s Schiller Park Intermodal Yard in Schiller Park, Illinois. Canadian Pacific train #133 follows the opposite path of CSX train #I166 but stops in the same locations to transfer the train to CSX and then works the CSX’s North Baltimore, Ohio Intermodal Yard before terminating at the Canadian Pacific’s Schiller Park Intermodal Yard. This train has to Canadian Pacific engines on the point so there will not be a DPU on this train. CSX train #I165 must have met CSX train #I166 at some point to the east of Dunkirk, New York. At 7:13 some mixed freight cars appear on CSX train #I165. At 7:32 CSX train passes our location on West Third Street.
8:03 We are on Progress Drive west of the Werle Road crossing. We are looking at the Norfolk Southern signals that are along the Norfolk Southern tracks at this point. I do not know what the Milepost number is for these signals. At 8:15 we are moving west on Progress Drive as Norfolk Southern train #315 comes speeding alongside us on 16 March 2023. AT 9:40 The engineer blows the horn to warn of the train’s approach to the Middle Road crossing on the east side of Dunkirk, New York. At 9:58 Norfolk Southern train #315 starts across Middle Road. After stopping at the intersection of Progress Drive and Middle Road, you pull over to the south side of Progress Road to watch the rest of Norfolk Southern train #315 pass. At 11:25 Norfolk Southern train #315 passes the Norfolk Southern Milepost 40 marker and it continues on its way to Norfolk Southern’s Moorman Yard in Bellevue, Ohio. Since we are looking at the Norfolk Southern’s Milepost 40 marker now, I would think that the signals that we saw at the beginning of this portion of the video are near Norfolk Southern Milepost 39.
12:35 WE are at the CSX Berry Road crossing in Pomfret, New York on 24 March 200223. Are looking east at CSX train #I157 which is about to split the CSX Milepost 44.8 signals. CSX train #I157 is on track #1. WE see that there is a green signal for an eastbound train that will be coming on track #2. At 13:01 CX train #I157 warns of its approach to Berry Road by sounding its horn. At 13:22 CSX train #I157 starts across Berry Road. At 16455 train #I157 passes Berry Road. You zoom in on the end of CSX train #I157 as it continues to its destination.
17:42 We are at the Norfolk southern tracks at Temple Road on 21 March 2023. 17:43 a piece of Norfolk Southern Maintenance of Way equipment speeds west on the Norfolk Southern tracks. AT 18:49 we see the Norfolk Southern Milepost 43.5 signals. At 18:10 another piece of Norfolk Southern Maintenance of Way equipment passes Temple Road.
18:23 You start to walk north on Temple Road to see if any CSX trains are coming. At 18:55 you zoom in on the upper signal on the CSX Control Point 42 signals that govern eastbound trains on track #2. We see that there is a green signal for an eastbound CSX train that will be coming on track #2. You then pan your camera to the west and at 19:04 we see the headlight and ditch lights on an approaching CSX train on track #2. At 19:28 CSX train #I158 starts across Temple Road. At 21:52 CSX train #I158 passes Temple Road. You move closer to track #2 as we see CSX train #I158 continue east around the CSX Milepost 41 curve. After going around the CSX Milepost 41 curve, the train will start to go up the west end of the elevated tracks through Dunkirk, New York. At 22:18 you zoom in on the end of the train as we see that the train is going through the CSX Milepost 41 curve. As you zoom back, we see the crossovers at CSX Control Point 42 that are protected by the Control Point 42 signals. You continue moving the camera to the west to show us that there is no train coming from that direction.
21:24 We are at the Berry Road crossing in Pomfret New York on 2 July 2022. CSX train #I017 has passed by the CSX Milepost 33.8 signals and is approaching Berry Road. At 23:29 we heard the first horn blast to warn us of CSX train I017’s approach to Berry Road. At 23:46 CSX train #I017 starts across Berry Road. At 23:42 a mid-train DPU appears in the train. At. 25:23 CSX train #I017 passes Berry Road. You zoom in on the end of the train as it continues to the Belt Railway of Chicago’s Clearing Yard.
At 25:52 your Outro begins and ends at 30:36.
Thank you for capturing these trains in the Dunkirk, New York area in the latter part of March 2023. It was nice that you brought that last train from 2 July 2022 out of the “vault”. It was great to see a summer scene in one of your videos to remind us of what we can look forward to as the warmer weather starts to appear in our part of the world.
      Amicalement
Indeed, this length is the reality here in France. Already the country is very small compared to the US.
The question that comes to me when viewing these 2-mile convoys is the time it takes the driver to go and return to the end of his train in the event of a technical problem!!!
Probably 1 hour 30 walking on ballast.

Triple Crown was the name of a RoadRailer service, consisting of truck trailers that were initially equipped with a single set of train wheels, later mounting points for placement atop modified freight trucks. They would then travel in dedicated trains without the need of flatcars. With the discontinuance of the service, the remaining Triple Crown trailers were repurposed as regular trailers.
