I believe that’s because quilava evolves later than both bayleaf and croconaw. Quilava evolves at level 36, bayleaf at level 32, and croconaw at level 30.

In eight years of playing the Johto games, I never knew you could have a battle with Silver in the Dragon's Den. In the originals, I found him there, but there was no multi battle back then. I never knew that was possible. Also, Silver was being so rude to Clair. Makes you not want to battle with him. Also, I can't believe they put the part where Silver tried to return the stolen pokemon back. That made me start to like Silver, other than his background story between him and Giovanni.
I don't necessarily mind him being rude to Clair especially when Clair herself refused to give the player a badge after beating her and having him go to a den just to "prove" the player won
In the original, I don’t think you battle him in the Dragon’s Den. It’s only in the remake. And I think that also leads to the Elite Four going into rematch mode.
I just realize but when you fight Silver i thought the only change of his sprite was just his hand get up next to him but when i look closer i saw his facial expression changes a little bit it's like a mean face he's doing
As much as I love Sneasel no thanks to Silver's, I honestly wish in the remakes that he at least evolved it into Weavile. And ngl the design of Sneasel at least makes it look tough and thankfully in Gen 4's context, can take advantage of physical Dark and Ice STAB in spite of its shit movepool.

You know it’s a really cool detail about Silver that a lot of people have missed? If you look carefully you’ll notice that Silver doesn’t have a Crobat until the final battle you truly have with him. It shows that he didn’t understand friendship with Pokémon, but now that he has his Golbat has finally evolved

Trading EXP boost is a huge help with this! All traded Pokémon get a permanent EXP boost and, if you happen to find a Lucky Egg and equip it to said Pokémon, the boosts will stack
I feel the same personally x) I really like gen 6 in general because nostalgia, mostly because X/Y were my first pokemon games (I already played Pearl when I was younger, but it wasn't my cartidge and I didn't really liked the game, so I don't count it as my first pkmn game lmao).
In my opinion, there is so far no other rival theme that can top SIlver's from HG/SS. Marnie's theme from Sw/Sh is in second place for me so far. ...And we don't talk about the actual Rival's theme in Sw/Sh.

Silver's starters are kinda suckish in terms of moveset... (what they should be) Meganium: Giga Drain, Earthquake, Body Slam, Energy Ball Typhlosion: Flamethrower, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Focus Blast Feraligatr: Waterfall, Ice Punch, Earthquake, Crunch
You can get scizor validly in two ways: grab a scyther at the bug contest and get a metal coat at the pokeathlon or use thief and steal one from a wild magnemite. Trade for a scizor You can get a Larvitar from the safari, make sure you get the mountain area unlocked

They really missed the chance to update Silver’s team to gen 4 Pokemon and make it reflect Paul from the anime. At least evolve the Sneasel and Magneton.
i literally still had my level 33 quilava by the time i was fighting him for the 4th time and he already had a whole level 32 feraligatr that almost knocked out my level 31-33 team 💀

I think that Tododile is best starter for defeating Silver because he knows Ice Fang after beating Bugsy.

You can get scizor validly in two ways: grab a scyther at the bug contest and get a metal coat at the pokeathlon or use thief and steal one from a wild magnemite. Trade for a scizor
You can get a Larvitar from the safari, make sure you get the mountain area unlocked

There’s a key item you get in celadon that allows you to change the music back to GSC music. The 8-bit doesn’t actually perfectly convert, but if there’s a GSC equivalent that will play.
