I have seen seagulls do the same thing stand with their wings wide open and then jump up into the air and catch the current and glide away freaking awesome
It truly was a sight, however, there was no reason at all not to continue the video if it was a good flight, so one has to wonder if things went, let's just say, not so gracefully as a result of the beautiful take off.

I watch birds fly every morning here in New York City park. You must not pay attention to the wonder of birds in flights, otherwise, you won't compare clumsy humans to magnificent birds.
If you know how to weld and had access to a hardware store you could. It's aluminum tubing and canvas. The wheels are the same as you would find on a dolly or a utility trailer.
A friend and me tried this when we were in high school. I had a scab on half of my face for over a month and the apparatus we built crumbled like toothpicks when I went rolling down a hill.
The slope of the sand dunes create an updraft from the wind. The camera angle made it look like there was almost no difference in height between where she launched from and the beach.
Do you really want to take off over the ocean and in LA? What if you come down a mile, or ten offshore? How about in the middle of the 405? Or high voltage power lines. This seems like a really bad idea. Go out to Victorville.
There's something to be said about already being in a big open parachute. Still, there's something about a hang-glider. It's fascinating to watch the hang-gliders at Torrey Pines just step off the cliff into the rising wind, and just fly away. Landing is just as graceful. They just lightly touch down, and put the nose on the ground.
Chris would be right up there with you in his hang glider. But he passed from a severe crash. He loved to fly! And learned right there at Dockweiler. That’s where we had our first date.

@zacharyharris438 That's how I felt about walking. I had a perfectly acceptable mode of mobility that was much more stable and safer than walking. Crawling was working just fine. 😊

Меня после одного полёта так рванули думала всё,но приземлилась на пятки и в кусты шиповника,долго не могла ходить,хирург сказал ещё такое приземления и рожать не сможеш и я оставила это занятие.Мне 72,а до сих пор тянет в небо,но за то у меня прекрасная дочка.Так,что вначале надо подумать,а оно этого стоет.За мою жизнь на моих глазах погибло 3 человек один из них инструктор😢😢😢
I almost bought a glider years ago, good deal too! $700. Used. But lack of instructors,and reading horror mishaps,steered me away from it. So I started riding motorcycles instead. Which in my experienced opinion, is more dangerous than the glider! People don't cut you off up there! Maybe I'll try it some day, I hope!!😂😂😂
Yep horror stories...even on the beach...several years ago ? Pro Kite surfer got a gust of wind took him 100 feet high in 5 seconds then dropped him on the shore rocks where he died.....Had a friend try this...was real good...soaring off a cliff in Utah...gust of wind came up and slammed him against the mountain...almost died still walks funny will forever...

I was able to hang glide, with an instructor in Rio de Janeiro. Scariest thing to jump off that mountain! But awesome to fly like that. ❤❤❤. As a child I jumped off our shed with an umbrella 😂. I didn't know you could just get a running start from the ground. Beware of those who try to do this at home: I landed in several inches of the soft beach sand! Thanks for bringing back the lovely memories. ❤❤❤😊😊😊

Меня после одного полёта так рванули думала всё,но приземлилась на пятки и в кусты шиповника,долго не могла ходить,хирург сказал ещё такое приземления и рожать не сможеш и я оставила это занятие.Мне 72,а до сих пор тянет в небо,но за то у меня прекрасная дочка.Так,что вначале надо подумать,а оно этого стоет.За мою жизнь на моих глазах погибло 3 человек один из них инструктор😢😢😢

I almost bought a glider years ago, good deal too! $700. Used. But lack of instructors,and reading horror mishaps,steered me away from it.
So I started riding motorcycles instead.
Which in my experienced opinion, is more dangerous than the glider! People don't cut you off up there! Maybe I'll try it some day, I hope!!😂😂😂

Yep horror stories...even on the beach...several years ago ? Pro Kite surfer got a gust of wind took him 100 feet high in 5 seconds then dropped him on the shore rocks where he died.....Had a friend try this...was real good...soaring off a cliff in Utah...gust of wind came up and slammed him against the mountain...almost died still walks funny will forever...

I was able to hang glide, with an instructor in Rio de Janeiro. Scariest thing to jump off that mountain! But awesome to fly like that. ❤❤❤. As a child I jumped off our shed with an umbrella 😂. I didn't know you could just get a running start from the ground. Beware of those who try to do this at home: I landed in several inches of the soft beach sand! Thanks for bringing back the lovely memories. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
