“Bugatti is now owned by VW, and is planning to make big saloons like this”. Just savour the wrongfulness in that sentence. 5 years after this, Bugatti would show to the world what Clarkson defined “the greatest car we will ever see in our lifetime”. And that also would be proven wrong 11 years later by Bugatti.
4:50 the song called On Days Like This, was used in the opening sequence of the 1966 movie The Italian Job written by a brilliant, young American composer named Quincy Jones... cheers and rest easy, Quincy... you've given us the perfect theme song for driving a supercar on a mountain road...
"Imagine parking stealth bomber on your lawn today...." And then in around 2000 he put F1A jet fighter in his garden(it was for speed show but still count) :D
I agree and disagree with this at the same time. The F-40 was something more than the supercars of those times, however you have to remember, that it was just as much of a "racecar with indicators" as the GT-40 and 250LM. The only difference between it and the aforementioned two is the fact, that the racing series the F-40 was designed for never came to be (a circuit division of group B). In nature its similar to the CLK GTR Straßenversion (a homologation special), while the F1 was designed to be a roadcar first, but was much quicker. And to be honest that would sum up hypercars nicely as well: supercars that are even flashier, even quicker and way more expensive.
Jay Leno drive his black Countach to work everyday for 6 years. He called it the most reliable car he ever owned. It is always trying to kill you. ( which is why I want one, when I hit Powerball) Someone wrote now that they have ABS, Lambos are no fun anymore.
1990ish you could buy a 160mph spyder type, V6, 2 turbos, all wheel drive for $22K USD, the Mitsubishi 3000 Gt VR4. Brand new for the price of a Town Car
It's a shame that the money left the socialist shithole we live in called Britain. We could have had the best enduring car industry in the world, but we make cars for foreign companies now. Because money and politics and stupid people.

Yeah. It was actually 2001.
It wasn't an F1A - it was an English Electric Lightning.
I remember when this was lost media
But now you can watch it here!
The full episode was on RUclips like 10+ years ago, im glad you bring it back!
Twenty-five years on from its release, this series feels dated with the facts Jeremy is moaning on about...
Been looking for this lost episode for ages
The best supercar ever is the Macleren F1. But I’d still rather a Regera.. or the finest super saloon ever made the HSV GTSR W1.😍
Actually, this is the very first episode of this series.
Fixed it now.
@@jacobrumens9601there is a playlist for clarckson car years actually
Actually
I think episode one in the title sort of says that, anything blindly obvious you want to point out next
@@alanwayte432 You're really too late boarding the train. 😂🤣🤣
thanks for uploading! is the part about the mclaren f1 missing?
I love my bugatti veyron saloon.
Thank you for this upload 👌👍
The F50 is stunning.
The F-40 wasn't a supercar. it was the genesis of the Hypercars, the XJ220 and the McLaren F1 followed in it's tyre marks

was no such word in the 80s.
How wrong jeremy was
How?
@@jacobrumens9601 he said supercars were dissappearing but now look at bugatti, koenigsegg and Ferrari
@@sprite9869 That makes sense.
@@sprite9869But then again this was 2000. So obviously this was outdated information by Clarkson.

Still waiting for a lyric video to not have mistakes in it 🙄

why so much music. think the same production team do homes under the hammer in 2024
Was a bit odd to hear the intro to If you tolerate this then your children will be next put over footage of a Lamborghini... very... choices
British cars are rubbish except for McLaren but wait its not even from Britain...its new Zealand 😂😂😂
Not all of them were rubbish.
Bruce Mclaren was a New Zealander but founded his racinh team in the UK.
And where are they built??
