- I dive into why this new N7 is probably a rogue AI based on another one of Director Gamble's tweets, the second Andromeda book, Initiation, and by pulling together all the plot threads I've examined to this point.

That makes so much sense. I did think the helmet was way to small. It looks way too much like a mech head. If this is what they're going for then we'll be dealing with a very badass robit as the antagonist
I'm very here for a humanoid AI baddie compared to the hulking Reapers.
My theory: Paragon7 is a BioWare plant to get us hyped because these theories seem too spot on. 100% agree hot n7 person is villain + AI. I'm not 100% convinced though that the benefactor is the villain/bad AI but could still be an AI but one that likes us.
Paragon7 is actually a high-end AI herself.

Your theory fits it perfectly I don’t think we’ll have a time warp but I do think your ideas here is spot on , I feel Femshep will return and I think EDI will also but enhanced she will be the good Ai.

I agree it's AI (have been thinking that for a while after giving up hoping it was Aria) but........why would a top of the range AI robot limp? I'd want a refund or exchange for that model 😂

Maybe that's the Shepard AI (Control ending), trying to sabotage alliance systems to prevent them from building mass relay 7, cause she knows it will lead to some major problems. Also Control ending is the most logical ending for letting Shepard to be alive in the far future (in synthetic form).

Liara's line about human defiance could also make sense in context if she's referring to the development of AI by the andromeda initiative/systems alliance (Also initials AI... coincidence?).
P.S. a rogue AI would also fit the previous themes of mass effect in terms of what the star child tells us about the cycle and the reapers and especially what we learn in leviathan. The struggle of organic and synthetic life would integrate with the themes of the game and with the presence of geth as good guys ??? in this next game (based on the two posters featuring geth so far) perhaps they are involved some how. It could be interesting ethically to present both a negative AI supremacist villain and sympathetic AI characters like SAM, EDI and the Geth, mirroring EDI and Legion's foil of the reapers- particularly with EDI's arc in ME3. Honestly, this could really tie all of the themes form the previous games together in a nice little bow. Nice one, I really love this theory!

i love this theory! i said as soon as i watched the snippet that the white and red on the boots reminded me of the mechs for some reason too 😆😆 it felt odd to have such a small detail on boots of all things

I said in one of Kala Elizabeth's live streams that I thought this N7 could have been the one who killed Jien Garson. It was mostly a joke but you never know.
I’m going to need that coat as a mod for this new game.
I've also considered the dual player character's being Ryder and Shepard! Gamble said not to worry when somebody mentioned they connected with Ryder and crew.
I'm hoping we get both back in the next game, but quite honestly, I want to play as Shep only. It'd make sense to play as both though.

I've been doing another playthrough and these videos are *so* in depth! I really hope that we get to be (or at least encounter) Shepard in the next Mass Effect!
Another theory. What if we are an AI in the next game, giving us a chance to be Shepard "their personal shepard" or we can be a random self built AI.
Would be cool! I'd prefer to be an actual human, but with the synthetic plot threads flying around, it's 100% in the realm of possibility.
@@paragonseven You know, if you consider the uploaded lore bits from the first games, it's possible that there's an AI version of Shepherd around when you consider the, I believe, president of the alliance who was uploaded or something like that in the various bits of news going around in game...
@@AzraelThanatos OH?! I had no idea that humans had uploaded themselves. I personally wouldn't want to see an uploaded version of Shep back, but it's definitely possible if humans have done it before.
@@paragonseven It was a weird thing where it was someone in an elected office and it was one of the in universe news stories, and about a controversy about if the upload counted as the same person or if it was a breech of the AI laws...
There were a lot of odd things that the devs put in that were hinted at there
Just found the reference, the story starts in the March 2010 Cerberus Daily News stuff that the team had put out with the Ford v. Huerta and is more of a AI/Cyborg reconstructive brain thing at the start. There's also the upload from Firewalker and I'm pretty sure that Cerberus had a partial if not full copy of Shepherds mind at that point anyway from their reconstruction that might have been copied into their clone as well...

There's a lot to be said about the ties here to the kind of story threads explored in Cyberpunk 2077, especially the Peralez 'puppet on a string' themed missions.
I love that Mass Effect is exploring the AI angle deeper, it's the most natural way for it to go, especially in the 2020s.

I'm also saying that there are story/thematic parallels, so it could be interesting to see how Mass Effect adds to the stories surrounding AI - maybe like the rogue AI idea that features in both series.

There's no way they are gonna confirm anything with the game years away from being released, specially when gamers are so obsessed with the "they said x 6 years ago and now it's not true, they lied and now the game sucks!" crap. They aren't gonna reveal story beats until everything is locked in place.

I obviously need to readjust the Benefactor being a Jardaan theory because I think them being a rogue AI makes more sense. THAT update video will be sometime next year. :)
that was also my 1st guess when i watched the teaser for the 1st time but i dont think thats a really bad idea
for example it could an extentsion of a real person controlling this IA by using some neural tech because hes paralysed or some sort ^^
So what if this AI was fooled to think that it's Shepard. I know I am on copium mode right now but still. An AI imitating Shepard could also be as capable as Shepard.
Here for the copium lol. It could think it was Shep, but it'd feel too 'Citadel DLC clone' to me, if that makes sense.
@Paragon7 @Mark-zo1hs Have you seen the snake/lizard face on the character's right foot on the poster? (You have to really zoom in around the fingers.) It made me think that this person (?) wears someone else's skin. I wonder when it will shed it off. Then pick up a new one? So we will chase a slythering ghost. (Although I read it in other's comments that it's a krogan face, but I don't see that.) Also when I first saw its hand in the teaser I thought it was metallic. Prosthetics or a robot? Then came the small helmet and I was like: it's a robot.

I see a wobbly looking line around the N7's right thumb, if that's what you mean by the snake-looking thing. I did have a potential theory that this N7 could shapeshift, but I'm not sure I've seen enough evidence yet to warrant pursuing it.

I haven't thought about shapeshifting in a literal sense but it is an interesting idea. What gave you the thought?

The main reason for the shapeshifter idea was because I thought the Benefactor might be able to shapeshift (the multiple faces on the Alec Ryder memories being the main foundation for that thought). And then I saw the strange swirl on the N7's coat arm...it might still be a thing, but I'll shelf this unhinged theory for now lmao
The issue I notice when using a Conrad Verner head is that the character being used has a more masculine head shape, making it challenging to fit into what seems to be a feminine-shaped helmet. If you had used a helmet designed for a female character like Ashley Williams or another feminine figure, it would have presented a more fitting argument.

I appreciate this take and had considered it, but FemShep also uses the same helmet, so I went with the classic one instead.
Regardless though, I used FemShep's head to test it as well, and the same things applied: the eyes and ears weren't matching up. A human head is a human head regardless of gender. :)

When I saw the trailer, my first thought was that it was either EDI or Legion in a new body. They want to tie the MW and AG together, but to do that, they'll either need to revisit the trilogy timelines or jump to the AI timeline - which means very few characters form the original trilogy will be alive.
Liara, Wrex/Grunt and...EDI and Legion/Geth. There's no mention of "Rampancy" in the ME universe so AI's could, conceivably, live forever. EDI's already swapped bodies once - from the Normandy to the Dr's shell, so who's to say she could not or would not do it again.
My first choice in ME3 was Synthesis, and that's kind of the direction MEA went - Organic and AI integration. I guess we'll see.
A much better theory to hear. Much more grounded befitting for a universe like Mass Effect.
If this is true, the Reapers worst fears (no i dont mean Shepard) have come true.
Ok seriously, this thought hadn’t even crossed my mind. And so far this theory makes the most sense. If you look up the word “Fulcrum” which was the password Ryder had to use in order to learn of the Benefactor in Andromeda. Fulcrum means “A THING that plays a central or essential role in an Activity, Event or Situation.” While I never put two and two together, we saw many different “people” as the Benefactor in Alec Ryders memories. Could that be maybe because that rouge AI was in control of a few certain people already? Or could it be that the reason why was because they don’t have a real face to begin with?
This Theory makes so much sense in which bringing Shepard and Ryder back to fight a rouge AI, who better than them to take down an AI threatening all organic species. Also, on that note, in your multiverse theory where the you analyzed the poster with the Mudjumper in a crater that looked like an alternate Geth. What if a Rougue AI Benefactor created an alternate version of the Geth, in which Liara believes she is talking to the Geth she knows, and gives away information to the Rogue AI instead, giving it system access.
So many thoughts in my head right and a long rant. But you always get my brain going down a rabbit hole. If this theory is correct, we as Mass Effect fans are in for a very brutal and terrifying story. Keep making these videos, they are spectacular!! Keep up the amazing work!
Appreciate your thoughts on everything. :) You mentioned that the Benefactor could have made the geth that's with Liara, but I don't think that's the case.
I have an ongoing theory (surprise, surprise) which I'll try and explain in the New Year on our new 'geth in clothes' friend.
Both Shepard and Ryder as the main protagonist would be the best of both worlds
What if N7 has become a more universal organisation so its got alien members?
Yeah like would an asari head fit in that helmet? Maybe its liara or a child of her's if this is the far future? Maybe they will let us pick non human protagonist in this game (something I have always wished for from ME franchise).
I was thinking a Salarian would fit in that helmet. But an A.I. would fit quite well too.
I'm not thinking villain though. Depending on what's happened since the last game, maybe there are more "good" AI in the alliance and one has managed to earn N7 status.
Another possibility, a cyborg in the armor wouldn't have to conform to a specific head shape. It would just need to be big enough for the person's surviving organs (*cough Shepard*).
An A.I. or cyborg character would handle issues of 600 year travel time much better than a typical human. A pure A.I. might even be able to just be transmitted via FTL communications / Q.E.C. Assuming the availability of hardware for the A.I. to run on at the destination.
Why would that happen? N7 is alliance and alliance is human only
@jr2904 The Reaper war could've showed them exactly what the other races could do so a select few members of other races could join there ranks.
Or maybe the Citadel Council adopted them to be a force similar to the Spectres.
While I thought this theory was definitely interesting and some parts I found to be compelling, I had a couple questions about your logic that I was curious to see if you could answer. (Keep in mind I haven’t read the book, and I played andromeda but don’t remember much of the key AI plot)
1. If the n7 in the trailer is the rogue AI, and the benefactor simultaneously, why would they require Ryders research? Their goal is to create a fully functional AI but they themselves already are?
2. If the AI research is really the initiatives goal, why the whole galaxy hopping thing? If they wanted to make that tech available in the Milky Way, then why wouldn’t they just fund Ryder independently, since I don’t think the Initiative ever planned on returning, so how would they bring back that tech?
3. That whole helmet test was silly and while I think that the helmet definitely looks strange, keep in mind that Verners head BARELY fits into the old N7 helmet so I don’t know if we should really be using the at as a point of validation.
4. The whole “what is a person” tweet does foreshadow an AI or human protagonist(imo) but I don’t know if I would link it so closely to the book, I think it just references it’s overall message.
1. Ryder's research is specifically about integratable AI's (i.e. SAM), which can allow for unshackling of AI's and/or the potential for AI's to be freely put in the heads of organics (which is obviously bad if the AI's are tampered with). If the Benefactor is an AI themselves, they'd want access to this type of research if they are shackled, or if they want a means for AI's to be put into the minds of the Milky Way species.
2. Legit this eludes me, but as the book stated, the Benefactor didn't care about the galaxy-hopping thing, simply the making of an integratable AI. I have an ongoing theory that the only purpose of the galaxy-hopping was to create loopholes for the writers to make our choices matter from the endings of ME3, but I'll divulge those thoughts in a future vid.
3. I used FemShep's head too in a community post, it still didn't work. The divots at the top of the helmet in the poster can't fit a human head, unless I'm just seeing it really wrong.
4. Linking the "what's a person" tweet to the book was simply how I got around to the idea that the N7 could be an AI, nothing more.
I'm fully open to the AI theory, but I wonder, what if it's a geth? We know Legion had a fascination with Shepard in the original trilogy.
Theory: It's Liara or some other Asaei in an N7 outfit. The spooky music fits since she is the Shadowbroker. The too tall helmet fits for her headtacles (and it looks a bit long but I might just be gaslighting myself). It fits her general outfit aesthetic. She sneaks around and wouldn't be opposed to hacking into the systems alliance. And she has featured in every teaser so far.
So either it is Liara (or some other Asari), it's theory bait to stoke hype but IS just some human protagonist, or it's some rando."what is a person?" Can be about anything depending on how you interperet it.
I'd be interested how they could possibly bring Shepard back and have Angara.

Ooh this sounds like an awesome idea, but unfortunately I haven't heard news about VR being a thing for the next game. If news comes out that the next game will be PSVR compatible, I'll for sure cover it.

Specifically an integratable AI though, like SAM. EDI can't help enhance biotics, strength, etc.

I still think that we won't be sheppard, but either a protogé of them OR a relative down the line.
Sheppard did survive the ending of ME3, making the red ending canon, but I don't think they would be an active field agent anymore, being praised as the saviour of the universe.
Will we see them? Maybe. Will we be them? I'm not so sure about that.

At the end of the day, we all don't know and have to see what really happens. :)
So if that N7 is an AI and the Benefactor, that means it was an AI system made prior to SAM and encouraged SAM's creation. Immediately my brain went to the Angara AI you find in a cave that was ANCIENT and honestly a little terrifying. She would make an amazing villain and in my game I chose to bring her back to the Hyperion where she literally sat next to SAM and had some pretty sketchy conversations. I was expecting something big to come from that choice but was dissappointed. What if if her story hasn't concluded? What if she is the Benefactor? You mentioned in another video that Protheons and Jardans are the same but with a synthetic twist. What is this AI/Benefactor is from the protheon wars?
Why is a bad thing? Wouldn't be the best way to bring back Shepard in the Synthesis ending. Organic and Synthetic no longer matter.
If it is an AI that has gone rogue in N7 armor, I wonder if it'd be an Alliance project to create a Shepard VI (as opposed to the novelty version). After all, who better to advise future N7s than the best N7 who saved the galaxy, right? Thus leading to Liara's quest to find Sheppard, as only Sheppard can defeat Sheppard. And yes, it easily could have been built upon the SAM mainframe programing.
Reluctant to believe they'd go for Shep vs. Shep after the Shepard clone in the Citadel DLC, but anything's possible.

I'm just imagining if The Benefactor is a rogue AI, how is it possible that they can procure the resources for the Andromeda Initiative. This AI just so happens to have the biggest bitcoin mining operation in the galaxy ? XD
The weird thing to me about the helmet isn't even the wedges taken out of the sides, it's the neck. That neck is way too long to fit a human head there. I did a similar thing to you with the conrad head but i used a whole body image of femshep and if i match up the shoulders/arms/torso with the character on the poster Femshep's eyes barely even meet the top of the coat's collar.
Definitely starting to think this is a synthetic character. Also had the random thought that this could also be related to the long-necked figure on the balcony in the club scene on the same poster
Agreed the neck is definitely off. I had the same thought on the long-necked character actually! The one thing is the legs on that person seem thin.
@@paragonseven The domed shape of the helmet also reminded me of salarian helmets too so I tried matching them up with a picture of Mordin and while the neck and shoulders line up better, his horn stands too tall for the helmet
@@mamboonthetube7652 Yeah, and the only reason I haven't tried other aliens is because of the human-like limbs and general human-like proportion of their body.

@@cagednephilim3967 Idk anything can occur. Don't mind more debates about what counts as a person and synthetic vs organic. The only thing i do kinda struggle swallowing is the potential for the character in the poster ending up as the main villain, unless i guess the helmet is used as sort of a little screen akin to how they projected the emperor's face on to a red cloked dude in Battlefront 2.
I wouldn’t put so much stock in tweets. I feel like back in the day they also gave tweets nudging /winking at indoctrination theory and a bunch of other stuff and none of it ever ended up being true.

What of the rogue ai have got shepards memories? What is human / comciousness. (Im not being serious, just throwing ideas on the Wall)
It's very possible considering that virtual aliens exist that can literally upload themselves into willing organics (IIRC). I really want our Shep back in their human form though, just from a narrative standpoint.
So the humans might of made the same mistake as the Leviathan species by creating AI wow

Mass effect has always been about organics vs synthetics and mass effect have always hard Ai in there games now that Ai is the new popular creepy thing to talk about in the real world ...I wouldn't be surprised if the N7 character is in Ai ...I agree the head doesn't look like a helmet .
i wonder if they are gonna do androids identical to humans/other ME races, like a small portion of the geth/new syth race evolved themselves into that, and they make a Shepard imtation too or something, 600 years have passed so anything could happen about evolution of technology, but it would be too much stealing from Battlestar Galactica i think...

@paragon7ME You have no idea how long I sat here (not physically -- but more of a zoned out stage of mind, of course) and tried piecing everything we've seen, together lol that was the only logical thing I could think of (and come up with) in the 10 days it took to think of how to appropriately word the synopsis I formulated in the ol' noggin. I mentally exhausted myself in the process. I'd say "short circuit", but I dont want you to think I'm a geth or A.I. 😜😂 the new elephant in the room, though, is how are we feeling about the latest Dragon Age announcement? Could 2029 be more likely with Bioware saying, "we will fully reveal Dreadwolf summer of 2024"? I felt my soul leave my body temporarily after reading that because that means DA:DW could launch in 2025, knowing middle of 2024 is when they plan to (fully) reveal it. The only thing that is keeping my interest alive and well is how Gamble said, "The next mass effect game is one you will all love" (not sure of the EXACT quote -- but I know you know which one I am referring, too. I hope 😅😂
[Ps. IF the main character IS Shepard and is going after the benefactor in the Andromeda galaxy -- I want Shepard to say 1 line in the game (as part of my wishlist). "Official Milky Way business" I should go. 🤓

With regards to the DA news, I think the full reveal will be the official trailer, alongside gameplay, and the works. I'd be shocked if it released past 2025. Early winter 2024 would be my guess.
And 100%, WHEN Shepard is back (lol I'm back on copium) then "I should go" will be a guarantee.

Maybe I’m just stupid haha but I’m not understanding how the heads don’t fit in the helmet. With video games you always have to suspend belief a bit I’ll watch the video again but to me the “eye holes” on the new helmet could just be that entire black part could be see thru right?

Mass effect was my view i to ai and its potential i love how mass effect portrayed the geth and edi how ai isnt just this unrealistic boogie man and playing a an ai that has to handle the worlds view on it and maybe the anti ai beleifs that may come post reapers would be cool
