DC Presents 26 is from 1980, so direct editions are quite a bit rarer than newstand, with only about 10% of the print run being direct. However, you are correct that it is harder to find higher quality newstands in general because they tended to sit on shelves or racks and get rifled through. Either way, super nice book!

As a former jeweler, I encourage you to re-size your ring. If it's that tight it will slowly cause permanent nerve damage and you won't know until it's too late.
Never sleep with your wedding rings on too, that's very dumb.

Also, 'direct edition' doesn't mean it was mailed to your home. It means it went directly to comic stores dedicated to selling only comics.

Thanks for looking out for me! Yes, you are right about direct editions. I realized afterwards that I had a brain fart and was describing subscription service, not direct editions. I deal so much with golden age books, that was just in my mind for some reason. Thanks for clarifying that!
