Yes, Polygamy is legal in Indian CONSTITUTION but only for Muslims. Constitution discriminates between people based on their religion. One group is allowed to create and live according to their own religious law. And another group is discriminated, forced to live according to what the creators of CONSTITUTION believes to be good for us.
Example: If Hindus do Polygamy. They will be jailed. Your explanation like, our Religion doesn't bar us from Polygamy or our Kings had many queens, doesn't matter to Law.
So, CONSTITUTION forces you to CONVERT to ISLAM, if you want Polygamy.
FUNDS SCHEMES SCHOLARSHIPS and other Government support is also Guaranteed.

There's no problem with polygamy or monogamy..in Mahabharata we have seen that draupadi had 5 husbands including arjuna. Even throughout history we see evidence of kings having multiple wives not just in Islam but other religions too. There's nothing wrong about it if you're taking consent of the other person, you're not forcing or lying to anybody. You communicate you thoughts freely. I don't think government has any right to interfere in a person's relationship especially when they've done nothing wrong.
