I think it is because many youngsters did not experience the flip fad back in the day, so were not prepared for when the honeymoon ended and it becomes more of a chore to keep opening and closing compared with the mature design of a candy bar phones.

Literally EVERY flip phone had this solved by adding a slight ledge to the top and bottom of the phone so your thumb can get leverage between them to open it.

Fabulous, fun, flawless Friday video! I liked the writing on the posterboard with the markers, that was a nice new touch! I love the pocketability of the Flip 5 but the camera is a real letdown! Another thing i have noticed is that the flip has way better sound both recording and playing back video than the fold or the 23. And sound is king in media. The cameras are more of a user thing. I can take amazing photos on any device depending on light and composition. So that to me really depends on what, where, and when you are taking photos. If i am looking to take amazing images my first thought is never a cell phone no matter what brand or model. I think the market for this phone is more for creators and the fact that you can record yourself on the phone in flex mode instead of having either a bulky stand or a second person to help with traditional slab phones.
Getting so close. Down the road in the next five years I feel the folding smartphone solutions are going to get to the point where I would purchase one.
How hard do you have to scratch the screen with your nail to cause dents? I'm afraid that if I buy the Flip 5, you will have dents (scratches) in your screen from those nails.
Did you worry about the screen cracking at the seam like the Flip 3 and Flip 4 had before buying or did they make the screen better on the Flip 5. Thank you for any helpful feedback.
Time will tell, but as you say, the Flip 3&4 both had this issue and is one reason Samsung nearly gives you a Flip5 free if you trade in the Flip4, to get older devices out of circulation before the screen has issues (not all but more than acceptable).

I'm so happy you pointed out lacking features like the camera when the phone is folded. These are things other reviewers may have otherwise not have noticed. I've seen quite a few reviews of this phone and this is the first time I've heard of this. Man are you good, girl 😎
But mind it that only the colors look different. I don't really know why, probably processing. When you take the photo folded they look more cold, while open they look more warm. So your skin looks more white folded versus more tanned open. But since it's only colors that change, almost everyone edits it a little bit before posting so you can customize it how you want. Of course, im commenting from my Flip 5
With Good Lock you can add any app on the cover screen. Unfortunately Samsung doesn't make it easy to access. Cameras are fine if you don't want a telephoto. I rarely use the internal display now.
Hi, i dont know if it's just my flip 5, but every time i take a video, especially outdoors on Max Brightness, my phone gets hot very quickly, and my video begins to lag? Does anyone have the same issue?
Well well well, this was a great live on the street report which is certainly make a change to way other reviewers are reporting on new phones. I do like the quick change of different location and environments to show the capabilities and the shorts commings of the flip 5. Jacklyn you have obviously have that key ingredient that gives a pinpoint report in all of your videos and this one is is another prime example. Keep up the great work.
So, the unfair advantage of them being in this space is only because they were ready to take risks on foldables, and the customer support, no doubt. This Samsung has one of the best customer support out there.
Initially Samsung's support on the Flip and Fold was patchy. But the bad news soon spread to social media and Samsung reacted by improving their process and by giving customers the benefit of the doubt rather than the other way round. So, I think overall customer support is A- if Apple is A+.

I have a doubt for the flip 5 users.. once we charge for 100% how long will it to drain completely.. I feel like my phone is draining very fast from the day one.. it's like for 4 hrs my phone is draining to 40%

Yes, it would be even better if the Flip 6 is made 76.2 mm (3") x 76.2 mm (3") closed, so the aspect ratio when open is 18x9, with the option of rotating the outer screen when the phone is on it's side. and has a 3rd camera across the top. These phones are tall, so the narrow main screen has an odd ratio. That said, I like my flip 4 although I rarely use the outer wiget screen, and so the 5 looks like a real upgrade! Tent mode looks useful too.
Hopefully future updates will allow more apps on the cover screen. I think right now there's only five or so available. Good lock is an option but some of the apps aren't optimized for the cover screen.
There will not be too many future apps per se, but more widgets. A lot of apps simply do not translate well to that front screen and I doubt devs will be quick off the block to make them! In any case, only 60Hz, a relatively tiny screen with low resolution, I am not sure that it is an experience worth using for £1050.

Fyi, the Flip 5 can also run all apps on the coverscreen if you install Samsung's cover screen launcher which is accessed thru Samsung's goodlock app...

As a flip 5 user so far my experience had been good but recently after 6 months of usage there was a green line in the phone for which the servicr centre change the display under insurance then afrer 3 days there is a black dot i cant say its a reliable phone. Buy only if you are careful and use phone less otherwise other models are far much better
Finally a REAL review for this phone and its flaws! Thats why I myself returned it in 48 hours! Not my cup of tea, and it still needs improvement! It will be awhile before I get one of these flip or fold phones!

Actually I love the compact form factor, then if I'd rather choose out from these 4 phones the iPhone 13 mini, Samsung S23, AsusZenfone 10 or the Samsung Zflip 5 hmm then I would choose the iPhone 13 mini and the Galaxy S23.

@@andreharper7127 A foldable camera is not going to be anything close to your s22's camera capibilities. In a few years, hopefully foldable will improve enough to try and compete in the camera department.
The SD8G2 is very efficient so 5-6 hours SOT with light use should be easy. I think for the demographic buying this type of phone that is more than enough.

When I answer a call and the phone is closed . It is on speaker phone . When open, it can be switched .
You do not have to open it to take a call .
