    Imagine its 1975 to 1980 and there's the unsunk, unscrapped and unused RMS Titanic rusting away for 50 plus years

      Without it's original history, that ship would not have the sentimental importance that it does today, so your supposition is kinda pointless.

    Hollywood should buy this thing ! It would be great for some older movies !

    From Deb Sims…I loved sailing on her in the mid-sixties, our Air Force family was stationed in England 3 years and returned stateside aboard her. She towered over the village of Southampton; a gobsmacking sight. Her paint scheme was so elegant; her raked red stacks just beautiful. Most people don’t know her glorious history; a national treasure gone to ruin. Heartbreaking! Stunning passing the Statue of Liberty at her rails. Quite the welcome home after three years gone.😭😭

    All the money spent on visiting Titanic which is basically rusting away anyway and apart from its sinking isn't really an important ship at all tbh , here we have a ship that's still afloat , seems to have a rich history and nothings being done to save it . Why not just offer it to the UAE , let them restore it like they did the QE2 and let it sit alongside as a hotel . They seem to have done a good job at keeping the QE2 alive .

      Or they could offer it up to long Beach because I think its on the list of ports this ship could be sent to

      I totally agree. What a shame it would be to see this ship sitting at the bottom of the ocean rusting away. There she sits and is salvageable and they do nothing. Why can't the government step in with all the money it is spending?

      I don't think we should salvage the wreck of the Titanic. It's an important piece of maritime history, and we should leave it as it is. The shipwreck tells a story, and disturbing it would take away from that. Preserving it in its current state honors those who lost their lives and keeps the memory of that tragic event alive.

    I'm at a loss to even what to say, but once it's gone, it's gone ! maybe Biden/Gov should throw in a few bucks, I would use this ship to unify a divided country, and make it a work project to create jobs, for America's 250th Birthday in 2026... I dunno, probably not realistic

    • @J.M.Chadwick6
      @J.M.Chadwick6 2 месяца назад +2

      Yes you are realistic! If the ship gets sunk or sent for scrap, they will all "cry" and say "we should have done something"! Remember the late, great Pennsylvania Station? It will be lamented forever but Grand Central was saved from the wreckers ball and restored. And yes, do something for the 250th. After all, she is called "United States"!

    • @tony--james

      @@J.M.Chadwick6 totally. at the very least, Gov, should get it out of there for now, at least to save it from this looming threat, park it in a gov navy waters, anything, it's too rare and precious to destroy,

    • @J.M.Chadwick6
      @J.M.Chadwick6 2 месяца назад +2

      @@tony--james Absolutely! After all, it has sat abandoned for how many years and what's a few more? The ignorance and lack of caring of so many people today annoy me to no end. But if the time should come to sink her as a reef (which I am totally opposed to), they will take pictures and film it and you will see it everywhere. Maybe they can make a movie out of it featuring a tawdry love affair like they did with Titanic. (That annoyed me too but I will drop it!)

      @@brucefye3778 If enough politicians could get on board, I believe something could be done. But with the upcoming election occupying everyone's time, that is currently not feasible. Moreover, with the division we are currently experiencing in the country, I don't have any faith in help from politicians when the elections are over. What has happened to the patriotism that used to exist?

    And the ship is being sold for $ 3,000,000 i know some billionaire could buy this. Or the government could chip in to save this ship. I am not wealthy but $3,000,000 is not a lot for a ship like this especially in todays world. i know someone could buy this i just know it, it's just being ignored sadly.

    Even if it was used as a warehouse storage facility for now would generate income until it could be restored.
