I know I must sound like a broken record by now but my word, all of the amazing launches, updates and information that has come in thick and fast this week has astounded all of us. So much happening with SpaceX’s Starship development. These week a range of booster catch testing. Indeed this is SpaceX's Boldest Starship Test Yet and The Countdown Begins as we head toward flight in a few weeks. Falcon 9’s blasting off all over the place, preparations for multiple Crew Dragon missions, including of course an extra surprise one. Not to mention astounding stuff from Blue Origin and Rocket Lab. Yea, this is a big one. Starship Updates, Starliner Return Info, Progress MS-28 (89P) Resupply, the announcement of Fram2, Falcon 9 launches with Starlink Group 8-3 and 10-7, the Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission or ASBM, WorldView Legion 3 & 4 and Transporter-11. Along with that a gigantic Everyday Astronaut Blue Origin Tour and Rocket Lab - A Sky Full of SARS. What an insane week!

What I don't get is what market are all these launch companies getting into? SpaceX is putting up Starlink but what other companies are trying to compete with them? So many launches and yet there is also a great deal of concern about all the junk in orbit already, it's making manned missions increasingly dangerous. Aren't they worried that the UN might have to put a stop to most satellite launches? Seems like most of these companies are getting into the market too late to really make a profit before being shut down. Reminds me of Wall-E when he is leaving Earth, the amount of crap in orbit is so thick it makes Earth look like a Dysons Sphere.
My guess as to way it took so long for the second chopstix upgrade was to see if this new actuator was up to the task.

I have a question about TPS tiles. I believe that there are materials that generate a magnetic field when heated, can these be incorporated in a TPS design to help keep the plasma away from the surface of the tiles. Not an engineer here. I have posted this years ago with no interest. Please enlighten.
Is that starlinks I see at 15:16 onwards just above (below) the horizon?
It's still pretty crazy they're actually going to catch a rocket.
Thinking positive. They will totally nail it. 🤞
Those catch pins look small and I suspect the grid fins will need to be strong enough to be used as the backup should there be a miss. I also question the effects a crosswind or any significant wind would have with catch accuracy. Seeing will definitely be believing.
@@mii747 they've landed falcon 9's on an X at florida and at sea. i doubt there will be much interferance by wind
What are the odds of them catching it in the first attempt itself, for me 5 to 10 %
@@clashgamers4072 i would say 30%. they probably catch it but something will certainly break
Tim, Marcus, and Felix are the original go to guys when it comes to SpaceX. Marcus is very easy to watch.
Thank you! ❤
... and he is the most sympathic of them (no offense to the others).
Marcus is the less click-baity of them, though.
You forgot NASASpaceflight (NSF)
Plus Scott Manley. He might not feed the "what's going to happen" itch (other than lay out the facts). But his after the event analogies are gold.
Has to be said, almost repetitively, the skill and realism of the animations and renders is incredible.
right? and its just by enthusiasts, not SpaceX themselves
@@witzont made on earth by humans 🤩
Great update Marcus! Loved Tim's Blue Origin tour with Jeff, we got SO MUCH information!
It was amazing. I didn't even want to show anything specific other to tell everyone it was worth spending the time to see. I need to watch it again.
@@MarcusHouse Indeed, I am happy Blue Origin allowed Tim to visit.
I really hope it means that Blue Origin will also try to be more open in the future
I find it strange that you would tell one channel how much you liked another channels video.
I’m gonna go tell Throttle House how much I liked a Hagerty video.
@@TJ-W Marcus literally told his audience to go watch the video of Tim's and provided a link in the video description. There is nothing strange about commentating on the video that was recommended.
@@teaser6089
Bozos all but invited Tim to Alabama engibe factory too.!
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how crooked that Falcon 9 was when it landed successfully just a couple minutes into this video? Holy moly.
I always look forward to Marcus's Saturday morning updates. Your upbeat and positive attitude just makes me smile.
I'm really surprised that this channel doesn't have more subscribers than what it has! This content is so informative and consistent. New information released timeously every week! Surely there are more space buffs out there who should subscribe. Everyday Astronaut has 1.64M subscribers and 445 videos (ok, a bit more than Marcus), but this channel definitely deserves more support!! Keep it up @MarcusHouse !! You're doing a GREAT job!!
Just spread the word! I don't use "social media" (besides youtube). However, every chance I get irl I tell people about Marcus House and his wondrous Saturday videos! Grass roots baby!
I think Tim's channel has been around for a lot longer so it had a lot more time to accumulate viewers. He also has slightly different type of deep dive general space technology kind of videos. Marcus house is a very nice round up of the news of the last week. But I've seen Marcus channel grow since it started.
In general, sadly, "informative and consistent" doesn't win like bot generated click bait and sensational stuff.
Yes i like the bot and ai ones which shocked insane nasa 😂@tiagdvideo
Might also have something to do with Musk not being flavour of the month lately, but yes, Marcus does an awesome job.
New glenn looked Amazing on Tim Dood's video.
I have a lot of hope for them.
Hopefully it will be amazing eventually. That engine looked overly complex though. Too many pipes and fiddly bits like the original Raptor engines. All I know is, more rockets is better so I wish them well.
@@Kelnx in comparison to Raptors 2 &3, yes, the BE-4 Engine definitely looks like a birds nest.
But in comparison to all other engines to ever make it to space, especially gen 1 engines, it looks completely normal.
@@WeAllLaughDownHere-ne2ou Yes, but all of those completely normal engines aren't designed to be reused. "Rapid" reusability is the key goal now, and they'll need to simplify the BE4 to reach that goal. I don't doubt they can get the current design into space.
@@Kelnx Indeed, but you get there by iterating, and you never iterate if you look for perfection.
Ballsy to test the whole rocket on first launch. Just like the "all up" tests of the Saturn V.
Falcon 9 is an amazing launch system.
I hope Falcon Heavy is better utilized. It can be used for Dream Chaser.
Falcon Heavy’s low use is why New Glenn will struggle. There just aren’t a lot of demand for launches in this weight class. Then an smaller subset that will need the larger diameter vs Falcon Heavy.
Once New Glenn is finally ready to fly payloads companies may build heavier & larger payloads. But these types of projects take many years to build. By then they will be competing with fully reusable Starship.
Blue Origin’s best bet might be to buy Sierra Space and use Dream Chaser to develop a fully reusable upper stage.
FH actually launches a lot compared to other rockets. Out of 26 rockets that launched around the world last year, FH was launched the 9th most. Falcon 9 is just a beast that is launching drastically more than anyone else by far.
I don't believe heavy is human rated. I know it's about the capsule. But I think nasa tries to fly with abort zones when carrying people. Dragon has a lanch escape. But on falcon heavy, you have 3x the fuel, 3x the thrust, and the flight path is probably vastly different depending on payload weight and booster landing zones. I don't think the dragons' launch escape can outrun falcon heavy.
If you think about it, dream chaser is just a mini starship with a trunk instead of a frunk.
Keep in mind the single main reason for FH’s ‘low’ use: and that is the incredible increase in capability of Falcon 9 from v1 to the fully operational v5. If you had told me over 10 years ago about this I would have told you it was a practical improbability at the very least; a honestly think its unprecedented in essentially the same form-factor launch vehicle, the improvement made. FH’s main competition over what was originally intended……has been F9, v5, which has stolen a majority of its payloads! - Dave Huntsman
I don't think there's ever been a crewed flight that screams Fantastic Four more than Fram2. :D
im calling it..they will be ...unhappy with the results
Once more, well done Mr House. Clear and straightforward data dump with information trimmed down to minimise time and maximise important aspects of what you where conveying
Marcus, I've probably missed maybe 1 in 25 of your episodes and for me this was BY FAR the best one yet. Your enthusiasm is wonderful and feels completely honest. Your video composition is as usual, excellent, and your script is always both technically spot-on and, and easy to listen to. I worked at NASA Houston from 1965 to 1978, from Gemini to Shuttle, and I think your videos have done more for our common cause, than my work ever did. I can't thank you enough!
Thanks Don. What an amazing career you've had. I'm constantly in awe of amazing humans like you changing the world. Thank you for being incredible. 🤩
This is really in depth analysis with video I haven't seen anywhere else. Nice work
I'm absolutely blown away by the quality of your footage, keep up the good work!
So that FRAM 2 mission is pretty much the origin story of The Fantastic Four.
I love how the Starship landing animation shows the stainless steel skin getting a nice shiny blue and brown color near the base of the rocket to represent heat stress weathering. Stainless steel at the right high temperature gets a nice beautiful patina when it's exposed to hot steam and carbon dioxide gases
yeah, you could see some of that happening on the flight 4 ship fins before it started burning up too!
25 minutes of 'Wow'. Another Saturday started off right. I'm always surprised when the credits roll. Like, 'the end already?' Thanks again good Sir.
It’s crazy how much work this takes …making new aerospace technology right before our eyes..thanks to you guys
This Liebherr crane is enormous
I believe the crane is a Sarens CC 8800-1 :)
@@mdeasy ahh Terex? but they have some Liebherr somewhere too
I'd love to know what it cost SpaceX, or what they pay to lease it.
J
@@stevejones1318definitely a lease.
I understand that it's actually bigger than they need for this job but ones more appropriately sized were not available.
Marcus, you always start my Saturday on a high note!!!!
We are truly living through a Golden age of space travel ! exciting !!
These Rocketlab mission names… 😂
And holy crap, was that two boosters with 22 missions flown??? Awesome. 🎉
I love the way Marcus seems to shout excitedly in a stage whisper----audibly soothing and mentally stimulating. 😊
I give them a 30% chance of success catching the booster. It will look awesome whatever happens. Just don’t hit the tank farm.
Success is uncertain. Excitement, guaranteed.
Rocket go boom
Whatever happens, it will be a hit.
I'm sure they have an Gulf water abort area reserved near Starbase.
The final decision will be between Shotwell and the mission director, called a few minutes before the final catch commit or a water abort.
The Booster should be almost empty of fuel, the deluge water system can be used as a extinguisher.
@@djohannsson8268 Exactly, and they will still have an operational flight termination system aka an onboard bomb. Maybe that’s not so desirable.
Love your saturday space updates ❤
Greetings from Norway!
Me every Saturday: "Hey hey Harcus Mouse here!" 😅
Dats funny 😂
Mr Harkus Mouse, should stick
This is what we all wanted to see back in the 70's and 80's.
I am so grateful to Space X for doing this at a time where I could still see it happen. Just wonderful work.
That was a massive amount of writing and editing. Great job Marcus.
I just wanted to thank you and your team for this channel. Seriously. Thank you. I always look forward to Saturday morning coffee and a reliable, credible update on all the topics you cover.
Thanks for the great video. I love the pacing and that it's little to no fluff. Please keep them going! :)
Transporter-11 also carried the biggest yet satellite constructed in Poland! 💪
With the tower clapping its arms like that, this catcher tower could be called the Seal 1.
Marcus, I genuinely appreciate your thoughtful enthusiasm for the entire space industry. I love the comprehensive overview from everyone’s accomplishments. This time reminds me of the early days in the personal computing revolution of the 70s / 80s and every day brings more marvels right from the pages of science fiction.
Thank you for brining it to us each week
A real breath of fresh air….compared to watching and listening to all the doom and gloom from Europe and, in particular, the UK. Thank you Marcus
SpaceX made great improvements in the power of the new engines. Seems they could reconsider having landing legs added back into the design.
Almost guarantee that try will be throwing raptor 3’s on S26 for testing.
Yup! That was my similar speculation a couple days ago on either the NSF or WAI video.
S26 is an enigma, and I like the mystery of provides! 😅 Is it tanker, a moon lander, or just a test bed for random things?! 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Let us hope that SpaceX will add more than one actuator piston to deploy the catch rail in the final version of the system. SpaceX does not seem to be very big on backup systems. They seem to forget that backup systems are the thing which overcame the "probability of failure" equations all through the history of space flight. When it comes to critical systems, like the crew, you have to have a system that "fails gracefully" or better has a backup system to prevent failure in the first place.
"That subscribe isn't going to push itself." 😂😂😂
Cheers Marcus that was an EPIC program!!!
I always look forward to your Saturday morning productions, but Wow! This was Awesome!
I wish that I had a Teacher with your characteristics, maybe then I would have been interested in school.
Several of the things you covered could use more exposure, like that big carbon-fiber machine. Amazing!
Thank you for being on my screen, and I look forward to Next Saturday!
Nice to see the Medzella catching the rocket!
The earliest I've ever been!!! Marcus House notification gang!!
Thank you, you cover a lot of information. I appreciate that. It would be nice if you told us which launch of the year you are talking about. The number of launches during the year is an impressive number in itself. Please include it.
15:57 Do we know which one of them is going to turn invisible, super stretchy, super strong, or able to ignite themselves?
Thank you for your excellent reporting of space news in general and not just myopically focusing on a single company. Kudos!
Great updates Marcus. Thank you!
thank you Marcus, your updates are nothing short of awesome, really appreciate you and your teams efforts, thank you all.
Great update, Marcus.
Those detached raptor engines moving around like that - they look just like Dr Who’s Darlects.
Apart from the expense, if the arms were made of Titanium they would have less mass and be easier to move quickly.
Do you realize how hard it is to make large titanium parts?!?
It could be aluminum or CFRP.
However, if this works, cheap steel is best.
@@External2737and most of it comes from Russia too
@@Likeaworm that may have been true when they built the sr71 now it's China at 36% , Mozambique at 18% . Australia has equal reserves to China.
@@External2737 not really, but I figure if it's smaller than a submarine they can probably do it. Good idea for crfp. Might get a bit toasty.
As far as I know, the newer ones address the problem just by being shorter.
I guess the longer arms give a larger target for these early tests and the boosters are just prototypes anyway.
im thinking they will succeed, but i will say that when my phat ass lands a motocross jump the suspension is built for a guy 100lbs less than me and sometimes it hurts lol... suspension travel is a thing and should be amplified for the biggest rocket ever made! lots of love for your channel!!!
Falcon 9 really is the one stop shop space work horse for orbital delivery.
For when you absolutely positively need to put something 50km above your head, accept no substitute.
50 kilometers would make it come down pretty darn quick.
50km wouldn't be high enough to reach a stable orbit. I've been working on space simulation, and generally, you wanna aim for 300km-600km and around 7.6 km/s speed.
great update marcus - thanks for all your hard work preparing these, and also to your fellow contributors.
so i said this in a reply to the top comment but i think this is important to say again so more people can see it
it is possible to not like elon musk and like spacex at the same time. Elon is a figurehead and doesn’t really have all that much control over day to day operations at spacex. Starship is not elon’s rocket, it’s spacex’s rocket. People who don’t like elon musk are not anti-spacex, and people who like spacex are not pro-elon.
there are many things that can be true at once:
-spacex has been objectively good for the space industry
-elon musk can be considered to be a bad person by some and a good person by others
-people who don’t like elon musk are not automatically “woke” or “npcs”, there are many valid criticisms of him that go beyond his political views
-spacex/starship failing would be a bad thing, and spacex/starship succeeding would be a good thing, no matter who’s in charge
failure to accept that all of these facts are true at the same time leads to echo chambers and pointless debates
elon musk also isn’t black and white. He has done both good and bad things. Again, don’t get sucked up into an echo chamber
True.
Well said..there are always many ways to look at/perceive things..
Disagree, Elon has a hands on attitude and directly contributes to the engineering of the rocket. He's not a mere figurehead
Nah we love Elon Musk
Just look at all the other companies succeeding.... that don't have elon as a leader. 0
Look at all the other EV companies actually making money
It's so easy anyone could do it ( sarcasm)
Typical sad jealous person comment, typing in his mom's basement.
Two separate Norway-related stories, that's pretty cool for a small country. 😁

Starliner? We do not want a 3rd Shuttie event. We know Dragon can do the job.
No monopolies. A single company, and a single design, do NOT a space Industry make, ok? - Dave Huntsman
@@dphuntsman If Starliner can't bring the astronauts home safely, then either way, there is a single design.
Flying on Dragon is the safe option. And when failure means two dead astronauts, always go with the safe option.
Thanks Marcus. I missed a few of the launches, but I know I can rely on you to cover the ones I missed + extras and add to my personal folders. So much going on, it's a great help. My picture collection just for Rocket Companies, is now over 52,000 files and 72Gb.
I do hope the legal stuff gets sorted out. A starbase in Australia would be cool. There are probably corporate espionage concerns that would maybe hold it up.

Elon is an a$$hole. He is also not SpaceX. Starship isn't a "Project 2025 rocket", especially since the makers of Project 2025 wouldn't be smart enough to build a rocket.
(Also, Slava Ukraini, Harris/Walz 2024!)
the progress is insane! I can barely keep up
Good to see Rocket Lab in the little niche market still having vision and flexibility for bigger things, that new carbon fiber layup machine is huge, it just comes down to scalability.
Keep it up Kiwi's, "Kia Kaha" - "Stay Strong".
Honestly i hope they catch it eventually, but it would be rad to see a big ass rocket ram a launch tower
Gotta love hearing news about rocketlab. Also super excited for the New Glenn launch, love the trapezoid-ish fin design
While its better to be lucky than good, the audience is lucky to get Marcus quality delivery. It's like perpetual cake!
Man I love to get my SpaceX news every week with you, but I have to say this week I would have looooved to hear more about that giant carbon-printer machine from Rocket Labs 😮 That looks like something right out of a Skynet/Terminator future, printing out giant robots!!
Any chance of you doing a special on this?
I would call those added plates "Stiffeners."
Fram in Swedish means forward.

My guess is, in the future, Pad B (with a flame trench) will be for launch and Pad A will be for landing..
No, both are for launch
Wow you are right thanks for the information on the new manufacturing of space ships, rockets , watching that special carbon fiber machine rolling material on a future rocket part is amazing they are doing the same as Tesla in manufacturing cars and trucks by making new machines to do it better and cheaper ! Mjölnir orbits are harsh on the hardware, they must be tuff satellites, or they won't last long! :)
Passing through the Van Allen belts isn't much fun, especially for the solar panels.......
It's absolutely amazing to think how long NASA has been in the space business, and how quickly SpaceX has surpassed them in speed and capability in just a few short years.
This WAS an awesome report. Congratulations Marcus, another great vid. Thank you!
Wow! Great video! So exciting to see Private Space industries compete to get into orbit. Humans were created to explore and expand their world.
The new header tank honestly looks like the Tin Woodsman hung out at the buffet a little too long...
17:50 Looks like a Molnya orbit that the Russians use to keep a communication satellite staying near apex for useful long periods of time. (At far northern latitudes)
5 Falcon missions in one week, incredible !
I think I saw those Maxar satellites the other morning.
Those privately funded missions remind me of the James Bond movie Moonraker.
One good potential side effect is maybe one will develop & use a space shuttle?
The CGI on the rocketlab deployment was very well done! i thought it was real until the point it separated.
Markus: please mark CGI clips as such.
3:20 I am sure the design of those arms will evolve. That one hydraulic actuator connected directly to the arm won't cut it.
