Salam alaykum, please remember that even the first muslims had to practise their faith in secret when the prophet Muhammed pbuh had proclaimed that he is a prophet. Keep strong and inshallah Allah SWT will grant you the highest reward.

Which means he had Gold and Silk, not Silver. Men are allowed to wear silver rings.

@mufti Menk I am confused, about Silver. i read The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) used to wear the signet-ring on his right hand. Book 29, Number 4215: Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) used to wear the signet-ring on his left hand, and put its stone next the palm of his hand. Some places mentioned silver ring with stone, or was it different material?
I'm not a scholar but I think Mufti Menk accidently slipped on the word and said Silver when he wanted to say "Silk". Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah Almighty has made lawful silk and gold for the women of my nation, but he has forbidden them for men.” [Sunan al-Nasā’ī 5265] May Allah forgive us all.
In my Islamic class I learnt that men are allowed to wear a silver ring, either on the pinky finger of their right hand, or left, if it isn't excessive or numerous (more than one). Hope this helps.
Im really confused Mufti. According to all Islamic schools, silver is permissible in some kind of way. Scholars discuss a certain limit of weight in silver or wether its just a ring what is permissible and ofcourse the intention. I think its necessary to mention that when we talk about haram or not. I wear a silver bracelet and wanted to take it off after hearing your speech,, but after some research I knew that it is not Haram to wear it. We should not label things as haram quickly especially when that is false, because that will make us no different than the jews who prohibited many things that are not included in the Torah. Remember, Allah loves the ones who use the permissions and hates who makes the religion unnecessarily hard for themselves. At the end it is said (in a hadith, correct me if I am wrong): when in doubt follow your heart even when you have been advised 3 times by mufti's and you are still in doubt. (Istafti qalbak, wa in aftook, wa in aftook, wa in aftook)
Asalamu Alaikum. My take on this is that Allah (SWT) is referring to real gold or silver, and in particular when they are intended by the wearer for 'bragging' or 'showing off.' That is certainly Haram. But not all gold or silver are real. Some are just plated to look like it. And also not everyone that wears such intends them for boasting (of one's wealth). For example a ring could be a wedding ring, or a university ring, and is worn by the wearer to symbolize as well as to remind himself or herself of those relationships. So in such cases I don't think it's Haram. Pls share your insights too brothers and sisters.

The hadith is gold and silk. Not silver
Silver is halal for men to wear
عن عليٍّ رضي اللَّه عنه قَالَ: رأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّه ﷺ أَخَذَ حَرِيرًا، فَجَعلَهُ في يَمينه، وَذَهَبًا فَجَعَلَهُ في شِمالِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إنَّ هذَيْنِ حرَامٌ عَلى ذُكُورِ أُمَّتي
As for Gold and silver. They are haram as eating utensils for both men and women

Brother U have quoted the hadith incorrectly. He didn't take gold and silver in his hand. It was gold and silk.

Correction: It was not ‘SILVER‘ - but GOLD and ‘SILK‘ that is prohibited 🚫 for men.

@mufti Menk I am confused, about Silver. i read The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) used to wear the signet-ring on his right hand. Book 29, Number 4215: Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) used to wear the signet-ring on his left hand, and put its stone next the palm of his hand. Some places mentioned silver ring with stone, or was it different material?
I'm not a scholar but I think Mufti Menk accidently slipped on the word and said Silver when he wanted to say "Silk".
Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah Almighty has made lawful silk and gold for the women of my nation, but he has forbidden them for men.”
[Sunan al-Nasā’ī 5265]

In my Islamic class I learnt that men are allowed to wear a silver ring, either on the pinky finger of their right hand, or left, if it isn't excessive or numerous (more than one). Hope this helps.

Im really confused Mufti. According to all Islamic schools, silver is permissible in some kind of way. Scholars discuss a certain limit of weight in silver or wether its just a ring what is permissible and ofcourse the intention. I think its necessary to mention that when we talk about haram or not. I wear a silver bracelet and wanted to take it off after hearing your speech,, but after some research I knew that it is not Haram to wear it. We should not label things as haram quickly especially when that is false, because that will make us no different than the jews who prohibited many things that are not included in the Torah. Remember, Allah loves the ones who use the permissions and hates who makes the religion unnecessarily hard for themselves. At the end it is said (in a hadith, correct me if I am wrong): when in doubt follow your heart even when you have been advised 3 times by mufti's and you are still in doubt. (Istafti qalbak, wa in aftook, wa in aftook, wa in aftook)

Asalamu Alaikum.
My take on this is that Allah (SWT) is referring to real gold or silver, and in particular when they are intended by the wearer for 'bragging' or 'showing off.' That is certainly Haram.
But not all gold or silver are real. Some are just plated to look like it. And also not everyone that wears such intends them for boasting (of one's wealth). For example a ring could be a wedding ring, or a university ring, and is worn by the wearer to symbolize as well as to remind himself or herself of those relationships. So in such cases I don't think it's Haram.

But even if you're inside your house with no one seeing you (and you don't want to show off), you still cannot wear Silk or Gold (as a man) because that's what the Prophet (PBUH) said so, you cannot wear them at all.
Wedding rings made of silver should be fine. Its just Gold and Silk that's prohibited.
